In Predator Arnold was closer to the Camera and I'm starting to think Carl Weather could be 0.5inch taller than Arnie. Also Arnold's hair can look he was taller and maybe he had a thicker shoe.

Sorry but knowing how tall is Carl Weathers is impossible to believe a flat 6'0 for Arnold or 6'0.25. I know Carl Weathers was minimum 185.5 cm or 6'1 in his peak and they were about the same height. Arnold was minimum 184 cm max 186. 6'0.5 minimum for Arnold 6.0.75 max

After seeing him next to Cena he does look 5'10.5" today. He seems to be shrinking more and more since hitting his 70's.
The more you look he does look my height at peak. He only had an inch or so on Brigitte Nielsen who was always claiming 6 ft but actually had a 182 cm listing at one point. The 6'0.5" claims are starting to not look so crazy afterall.

Yeah too many evidences out there. I've always thought he was 6'0.25 range in his peak 6'0.5 max. Nowdays he is in the 5'10 range. I don't understand this cuurent and peak listing

@viper I remember watching him in movies as a kid and he always looked massive to me. As for now, he looks like he's shrunk near 3 inches so I wouldn't discount 5'10 range, especially if he wasn't much over 6'1 in his prime.

I've gone back and forth on Arnie over the years. I now believe Arnold was 6-1 minimum. I believe the 6-1.5 night measurement.
But today I think he's 5-10. He has shrunk an insane amount.
Partly because of bodybuilding and age.

Big Rob says he was minimum 186 and 187 max (his guess) and this really intruiged me but I think in this case he is wrong, because photos and people who met him doesn't lie. My eyes also tell me Arnold was 183-184 at absolute best. I know Rob usually is right and I usually agree on his guess with other people but I really find hard this listing...

The Vince Basille email has always intruiged me. Is it possible that the Stadiometer wasn’t accurate?
We all know that 2.54cm is 1 inch, but a lot of places list 1 inch as 2.5cm (Im thinking for buying things in lengths like buying cable where exact length isn’t important)
My father called himself 6 foot when he was 180cm tall (2.5cm x 72 = 180cm)
Is it possible the measurement of Arnie used a Stadiometer with this (I agree incorrect) scale.
That would mean if Arnie measured 183-184cm in his prime the reading would be about 6’1.5.
It would also be lined up with the measurement he gives now at a ‘worrying 6foot 0.25’ Which by the same scale is 180cm give or take, which most people can agree he looks these days.
I think it’s entirely possible. In some parts of the UK I’ve seen 6 foot Christmas trees sold with 180cm written on them.

You have to take into account how height aware Sly is. He is closer to the camera than both Arnie and Willis and as you said in whoppers. Sly is a guy who regularly used to rock 3 inch footwear. He used to pass for his silly 5'10.5" claim when wedged up.

At least 6'1" in his youth. There is a full body shot in 'Stay Hungry' where he is standing directly opposite Jeff Bridges. He is barefoot and Bridges is wearing shoes. He is only slightly shorter. But he has lost a lot of height now.

I think the big comparison here is with 6'2 James Cameron. I see at least an inch there.

Arnold was for sure between 6 ft and 6ft2. Who says he was under or above these marks has some problems, I'm sorry to say that. A 6ft1 guy can look both, 6 ft with poor posture and thin sole or 6ft2 with good posture and good sole. If you check photos over the years, he was one inch under with guys like Cameron, Bush Sr, Ronny Cox (you can check photos). He was the same height (although some can argue that, and for sure he edged them at one point, but we cannot see theirs shoes isn't it?) Tom Arnold, Carl Weather or Evander Holyfield, 6fte1 guys (on this site, which shows pretty accurate height). It's funny to argue about 0.6 cm (this is what we the height freaks, are doing, no? :) ) because it's very little visible, but imo Arnold wasn't more 6ft1.25.
I can see his height fluctuate between 6ft75 first thing in the morning, 6ft25 in the noon and 6ft1 in the evening. He also declared somewhere at the beginning of his career that he was 6ft1. Plus lets not forget that NABBA has proven to overestimate heights. All the clues bring to the same conclusion, Arnold was 6ft1. Of course Rob, you can maintain this peak but I don't think it reflect the average height that Arnold had. Although you received that mail from Basile,you weren't there to see. Humans can always be prone to mistakes and a 1/4 (maybe 1/2?) error I can imagine. For example my doctor doesn't pay attention when measures me, just from distance sees the peak and puts it on paper.

I had the chance to meet him at the Arnold these past days. It was like a quick handshake and I couldn't take a pic with him but I wanted to watch him and make sure how tall he is and how tall he could be in his prime. I'm just over 5'11 at morning exactly 5'11 1/8 but go down to 5'10.5 at night. I can say I'm slightly taller than him not a full inch but half inch easy. I'm sure he is in the 5'10 range more 5'10. He shrunk I could see he has long legs and I stimate he could lost 2 full inches but this is the most I would say overall he looked pretty good and fit. He was in the 6' range and maybe Arnie was 6'1 right after bed in his 20's but honestly is impossible he was over 6'1. He was more a very strong 6 footer. My guess is 6 and 3/4 in his heyday

Editor RobIn 2016-2018 I think Arnie at 181 range was still feasible. In 2019 maybe the 180cm is what he is beginning to look more often.
In his peak, 187 is the max I'd go with, 186 the lowest.

I was was in Columbus, Ohio yesterday, March 1st, for the Arnold Classic again. I had the fortune to high five Arnold as security brought him through the crowd. Again, Im 5 ft 11.5 . I was wearing Adidas ax2 trail running shoes and he was wearing those white sneakers that he has been photographed in a lot lately. We were basically eye to eye with mine maybe slightly higher. So, I would put his current 5ft 11.25 listing as fairly accurate. I will say this though, his head, neck, and shoulders were noticeably rolled forward like a a lot of normal elderly people tend to as they age, so age and injury seems to definitely have affected his height. Another observation was how big his head and hands are and he had thick fingers. I generally wear a size large glove and his hands were noticeably bigger than mine when he high fived me and grasped my hand. All this and my experience from 2006 standing face to face shaking hands with lends evidence to that fact that in his prime he was a big guy. Shinking 2 inches by the age of almost 72 for a guy with his list of injuries is realistic. I would be curious to see how tall he is if stood up straight, feet together, shoulder blades pulled back. Also looking at a of old photos of him I noticed that he tended to have a rather slouched posture when relaxed. My dad, who is 6ft 1 idls the same way, he has poor/slouchy posture which depending on my footwear can make us appear thr same height but when he stands up straight is noticeably taller than me.

If he lost more height than you initially suspected, does that lessen your admiration of the man...? It shouldn't. I think aging actors feel they still need to maintain a certain image; even if they don't want to wear lifts, they do it more for their fans' perception of them...

Below is a clip of Arnold and Jeff Bridges in the movie Stay Hungry which came out in 1976 (after Arnolds 6th Mr. Olympia title). I've timestamped the clip at around 50 seconds. If you pause the clip at about 50 seconds right away, you can see Arnold and Jeff Bridges standing face to face and they are nearly even in height with Jeff slightly edging Arnold out. Arnold is even barefoot in the scene and Bridges is wearing shoes (tho the shoes in the scene don't look like they add much height to Bridges height). If Jeff Bridges is listed at 6'1.5" peak then, I could see Arnold at right around that height for his peak as well especially if they measured bodybuilders in the morning during their peak height.

I was just at the doc the other day and at 11:00 am I was 5 ft 11.5 inches tall. I’m 37. That’s the same height that I’ve been since I was 15. Again I met Arnold face to face and shook his hand at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio in 2006. I was wearing Harley Davidson motorcycle boots and he was wearing his trademark cowboy boots so it’s difficult to say if there was a footwear advantage either way.He easily had at least an inch at minimum on me. Let’s just say that Arnold “busted a gut” stretching out to get that 6’1.5” measurement that Vince Bassille reported and allow for a slight deviation in the accuracy of his stadiometer. I would say that still makes Arnold a strong 6ft 1 at his peak in his early 20s. Also, as a kid I was always taught the concept of rounding up. So I don’t feel that Arnold was ever being deceptive claiming 6’2”. They do not llow me to put 5ft 11.5 on my drivers license so it says 6 ft. Believe or not the average person isn’t obsessed over exact height. When people ask me how tall I am and tell them 5 11 and a half, they say” oh, so you’re basically 6 ft.” Arnold ‘s height loss can easily be attributed to all of the heavy lifting, especially deadlifts and squats, that have compressed his spine overs the years as well as his broken femur, at least one knee operation , hip replacement and I wouldnot surprised if he has some vertebrae fused too. Editor RobYeah, I think in most cases if you go to a 1/4 inch for an estimate, that is all most people need to go to.
Sometimes a 1/4 inch can also be a kind of indicator that you might think that somebody is between a range, like 5ft 11.25 could mean you think they might be roughly in 5ft 11-11.5 range but not sure which is the better figure.

My brother stood next to him in a college bar when Maria was attending Georgetown University about 40 years ago. He said that Arnold looked about 5'11" to my brother's 6'2". That stuck with me because I believed that Arnold was 6'2", like most people.

@rob On swedish news television many years ago, maybe around the time when Arnold was first to become Governor they for some reason mentioned a news about Arnolds height that suprisingly he was not very big/tall man but actually just 178cm. I remember seing this at the news and thinking it was not true. I dont remember at all why they did mension this on the regular news in Sweden but they did. Maybe he had gotten measured when becoming governor or something?. But now I have actually read that in some old bodybuilding text he was said to be 178cm so who know.. But I would guess he was and still is taller then that.

My dad told me that he saw him back in either 90 or 92 and said Arnold definetly didn't live up to his big guy personna. My dad, a legit 5'9" guy, said arnold looked at most 3 inches taller than him. So 6'0", could definetly be a posibility for arnold for his peak. Arnold is most likely 5'10" right now at the age of 71

To be fair he looked pretty much 2'' smaller in both pics , so looked near 6'1.5
We can't say anything 100% . He may have been , or not , there were occasion that he looked that tall , others not .

We all know trump is taller than him by probably 1in , you can see that by looking at thier shoulders , but arnold has longer neck and bigger head , but he is not closer to the camera , and abt the pic of stallone and trump , they don't look the same height at all even if sly is closer , maybe you mistake him with his brother franc who is on left of the pic lol

I think that at this point Arnold is 180.5cm in the morning and 178.5 at night. And at his peak he was probably around 184-185cm.

Brigitte is quite clearly taller than Loken in that pic and I would never trust a movie height chart since some are real, but many are just props so it's a guess. Loken looks a bit below the 6' mark in shoes there and there's a very good chance Brigitte has lost height since 1985. She was a legit 6' back then. 182 cm at the absolute worst case. Remember, solid 5'9" Eddie Murphy inflated her to 6'2" to back up his 5'10" claim.
