@Dream: he does now I think. He looks taller next to Doc Gooden in some pics at least then Darryl Strawberry does. Granted Strawberry probably has lost some from his peak, Deblasio May have been full 6’6 when he was younger as well

Rob, I really don’t see an issue with Bill claiming 6’6”.

I was watching TV yesterday and saw him.Without even being familiar with his face I immediately knew who he was because he was clearly the tallest, although interestingly many people people were not towered by him.I wonder what is the average for politicians in US?
Canson said on 6/Oct/18
@Dream: I agree! It could also be his style of dress shoe. If he’s wearing a shoe that adds 3cm to his height, he may really only be 6’5.75 at a low or somewhere around there but he over 6’7” in his shoes. He also lives in New York, a place where people are known to inflate heights and claim their shoe heights. I know several people who live in or are from there and they claim their shoes. That said 6’5 won’t fly for him if he’s that far over the mark especially when he’s around a bunch of sub 6 footers that wish they were 6’0”. They claim it themselves so they have to make their lies believeable by inflating others

@Dream: no benefit to claiming 6’5 when I’m 6’4 or any height that anyone is for that matter. That’s been my message since I began posting here
Dream(5'9.5") said on 5/Oct/18
@Canson Yeah. There’s going to be a lot of strong 6’5” guys who could claim 6’6”. Blasio isn’t one of them for sure. He can claim 6’6” as he wishes and get away with it pretty much every time.

Like I said, if anyone thought 1/8ths of an inch is inflating, then they haven’t seen guys like Brock O’Hurn claiming 6’7”!

To tell you the truth, I don’t really bats an eye of strong 6’5.25” guys claiming 6’6” because they will measure 6’6” flat in the morning, let alone someone who’s only a shade under 6’6” claim said height.

You could claim 6’5” and get away with it, but you claim 6’4”.

Could you also add Jim Justice rob?
Canson said on 30/Jun/18
@Dream: I’m thinking he never measured after a certain point or that he didn’t want to be that tall. I know if I were 6’6 as opposed to 6’4”, I would claim 6’6” but would be a pain in the a$$. My 6’6 friend and 6’7” friend let me know that every day lol!
Canson said on 28/Jun/18
@Dream: lol. Women have the hardest time and give the worst estimates of height for taller guys. She may or may not have you’re right. But I think the fact that others called him on it added to her suspicion. He really looks close to 6’6” more than most listed 6’6” guys maybe except Carmelo and Matseker
Dream(5'9.5") said on 27/Jun/18
@Canson I bet his wife didn't buy his claim! She probably thought he was taller!

It just shows how big a real 6'5 7/8" guy is!
Canson said on 26/Jun/18
@Dream: he used to be accused of downplaying his height. His wife demanded that she measure him!!! As a result Lol
Dream(5'9.5") said on 25/Jun/18
At this height, his claim is perfectly fine.

I would be much surprised if anyone took offense to his 6'6" claim.

Sure, he is a shade under 6'6", but he's closer to that than 6'5" without question.

He’s a terrible mayor but he’s 6’6.

This is a groovy listing
Canson said on 4/Mar/18
I think at his lowest may be this height or 6’5.75. At his peak likely was a full 6’6”.
Canson said on 17/Jan/18
@Rob: since you gave Rodgers 6’1 7/8 maybe this guy 6’5 7/8?
Editor Rob
Considering that is what his office supplied, it always sounded like that is what Bill measured in at.
Canson said on 30/Nov/17
@Christian: yea this guy is at minimum probably half inch taller than you are and likely about 1.5 taller than me. I saw articles where he used to claim 6’5” until his wife measured him 6’5 7/8 and said it lacked scientific precision but now see he claims it and the basis for the measurement was that people always thought he was shading short. That’s the world we live in though because i bet if the guy were my height or Tom Brady’s and claimed 6’5” instead of 6’4” there would be fewer people challenging it because it would allow them the liberty of lying up themselves

While it's true that high position politicians (like presidents, prime ministers, governors, mayors etc.) and CEOs are taller than average, I think once you're about 6'2" it's a cut-off. (meaning that being any taller gives you no additional benefit in those careers) I think Blasio at 6'6" won't affect his political career if he was 6'2"
Canson said on 28/Nov/17
@randomuser: height really doesn’t have as much to do with success as people believe outside of pro sports. More specifically when you are talking a 5’11 guy or 6’0/6’1 vs 6’2/6’3.

Some of these NYC corporate CEO/mayor/Bloomberg types are quite intimidating physically. Over 6'3" is pretty common for CEOs, in fact I'd be interested if they worked out the average height of an NYC based CEO. I always think that guys like this almost resemble the NYC buildings they work in in a way! You can just tell the guy is super wealthy by looking at him, even if you didn't know who he was. So there's a case to be argued about height in the workplace, and taller guys might get the higher jobs.
***************
lol De Blasio is not "super wealthy" in the slightest. Nor was he ever a CEO. Also most of the people on the Forbes Billionaires List are not giant at all: 5'8 Bezos, 5'9.5 Gates, 5'7.5 Zuckerberg, etc.

That 6’5 7/8 looks his afternoon height. Not a morning. I can’t see below maybe 6’5.75 and only because you have the quote above and the fact that a dress shoe at 6’5.75 can still make him just about 6’7”. 1/4” can be offset easily with footwear. I just don’t get when he claims 6’6” and was measured 6’5 7/8 why he’s listed 6’5” still on some sites
Canson said on 4/Jun/17
It's weird all over the internet he's billed as 6'5. I'd say he's not less than 197cm at his lowest
Canson said on 4/Jun/17
@JBS: he looks 6'6" so I'd say I agree. Maybe he dips to 197.5 like you said and only because I saw the 6'5 7/8 and because someone his size may lose a full inch in height in a day. He looks similar to gronk imho
O.J. said on 12/May/17
Bill is easily 6'6. I've stood next to Bill's disgraced correction commissioner, Joe Ponte, who is easily 6'2, and Bill has 4 or 5 inches on him.
Jbs93 said on 11/May/17
@Canson. Agreed. I still think 198cm is his lowest though. Definitely a downgrader for sure.
Canson said on 11/Apr/17
@JBS: so in your case you likely even come a fraction albeit a small one under 6'5". Like 6'4.9-6'4.95 (but of course still a legit 6'5"). I'd give anything really 6'4.75 or above a full 6'5. At a lowest. I'm a whisker over 6'5 out of bed (just under 6'5 1/8) and just under 6'4 3/8 at my lowest
Canson said on 11/Apr/17
@John: depending on when it is measured of course. If that's out of bed (I doubt his is), it's a legit to strong 6'5". Even if an hour out of bed it's still questionable enough to say strong 6'5" maybe the cusp of a weak 6'6"
Jbs93 said on 5/Apr/17
@canson yea thats true, thankfully the doorways in my house are 6'8". I wear mostly new balance shoes because there the most comfortable. I'm around 6'5"-6'5.75" in shoes - max 6'5.7" barefoot morning. It doesn't help that I have really bad posture which causes back and neck pain - plus 2 acl and meniscus tears in my right knee from HS football. man This reminds me to hit the gym again and build some serious muscle
Canson said on 3/Apr/17
@Jbs193: I think anything past your height maybe Christians height at most is where it begins really. You can say 6'5.5 is probably still ok but then you're in a 1" shoe and are 6'6.5 which is where many light fixtures in houses are and some doorways are only 6'7" without carpet although many are also 6'8". 6'6" barefoot at someone's lowest means in casual shoes they're almost 6'7
Jbs93 said on 2/Apr/17
I agree completely completely with canson as a 6'5" guy. After and up past 6'6" things get really weird. Even at my height I sometimes feel that way.

That being said, I really dont see de Blasio dipping below 198cm - maybe 6'5.75". He's got a solid 6'6" body.
John said on 27/Mar/17
6'5.875 is technically 6'6.
Canson said on 6/Mar/17
Looking at the pic I totally buy 6'6". So he's probably st least 197 barefoot
Canson said on 3/Mar/17
There was a time when 6'5 wasn't desirable either wonder if 6'6@' will ever get to where 6'5 is today where 6'3 guys claim it
Canson said on 15/Dec/16
6'6" is not desirable for a common person. Any common person not a pro athlete 6'2+ will say that much lol. It's useless height otherwise. Which is why those who lie up screw it up for those who are honest imho because a 6'4 or even 6'5" guy wouldn't want to be 6'6" in most cases but a 6'3 guy will claim 6'5 lol! What rampage said here is exactly why some people like this guy, Napier and even people accuse Howard stern of doing it, round down or possibly even lie down an inch. lying down an entire inch if someone is over 6'6 at night, is the same imho as lying up an inch. But if he were between 6'5.5-.75 at his lowest don't see the issue with it. This "So called rule" people need to claim 1/2" or round up is a rule some Napoleon complex person or insecure person who needs to get every inch or be able to gain one somewhere made up to benefit them
S.J.H said on 26/Sep/16
He had a well proportion can look shorter sometimes like 6''5 but also 6'6
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Sep/16
I can see him rounding down. 6ft6 is not a desirable height for some
MD said on 12/Sep/16
@Arch, I guess my point is that he (and Bloomberg) shows the problem with stereotypes, then, and why it's not good to rely so heavily upon them. Bloomberg is an ultra-wealthy financier and he's a little guy, and de Blasio is a upper-middle class (maybe) politician who is well above average height.
123 said on 9/Sep/16
rob he has claimed six-five in the past mayby take him down to 196cm?
Editor Rob: I think he must have rounded down, if he was measured almost 6ft 6 and now happily claims it, I think that is enough for the guy.
Arch Stanton said on 8/Sep/16
He's not a billonaire no, and not a finance guy, but what I mean he has that NYC executive look about him. And yes, there is a "look" a lot of them have.
MD said on 8/Sep/16
Arch, I don't get your post. de Blasio is not particularly wealthy and he certainly isn't a finance guy. The former mayor was Michael Bloomberg, who was did come out of the industry, and he was short. It's kind of a strange stereotype give whose risen to the top.
Arch Stanton said on 7/Sep/16
Yeah you're right, Bill does look taller with Obama than Felipe! I dunno whenever I see Felipe in photos he looks very tall, I think it might be his build with long legs and small head. I had thought he looked a legit 197 guy yes, though I see in comparisons he's not over 6'5 really. Like Del Potro, Blasio is a guy who can give a strong 6'6 impression.
Canson said on 7/Sep/16
Yes I'm with you Arch. If he isn't a full 6'6 he's at least a strong 197 guy that never falls below it.
Andrea said on 7/Sep/16
I totally don't know those guys, Arch... Maybe they're overlisted? :P
I'm just saying that Anthony objectively looks more 6'5 than 6'6 there, i discussed his height a lot of time ago, when Rob came out with his photo... Before that, the only things i saw of him were a couple of photos with Wladimir and i thought he could look near 6'5 as well! I can buy weak 6'6... Rob himself said he looked taller than Rick Fox in person and i think Rick is 6'5.5 range!
As i said, Bill gives me a more legit 6'6 impression...
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 6/Sep/16
"Bill de Blasio's Height: 6ft 5â…žin (197.739cm)"

Rob, should we go with that NY Times article?
Editor Rob: it's mentioned at the top, but I think if it was a .75 I'd have put him on that, the 7/8th is enough to get the full figure.
Arch Stanton said on 6/Sep/16
@Andrea, seeing Steve Redgrave with John Inverdale and Anthony Joshua with John Inverdale, Joshua really looked noticeably taller. He also looked taller than another 6'6 listed boxe, Joe Joyce in the interview. If he's not 6'6 he very close, might be 6'5.75 if measured.
Andrea said on 6/Sep/16
Arch, as i said on Derek's page, i think he's probably somewhere in 6'5 range, 6'5.5 is possible but he looks more 6'5-6'5.5 from what i've seen...
This guy generally doesn't really look less than 6'6 to me... Yeah, Bill gives me a taller impression than Derek!
But again didn't you say that King Felipe looked near 6'6 to you? Look at Obama with Bill and Felipe... Bill looks noticeably bigger to me! :)
I think there's a good chance that Felipe is more 6'4.5 range than anywhere near 6'6!!!

Arch Stanton said on 5/Sep/16
Yes, it's bleedin obivous just looking at his photograph, and I agree with Andrea on him looking taller than a lot of the other 6'6 listed guys on here and how a proper 6'6 looks. He can actually look 6'7-6'8 in the above photo!
Christian-196.2cm (6ft5.25) said on 5/Sep/16
Perfect listing. He's a good 5 inches taller than Obama.

Andrea said on 4/Sep/16
Thank you, Rob! He looks one of the few genuine 6'6 on here, certainly no less than this with Obama! This is how a real 6'6 man should look...
Editor Rob: looking at photos of him, he does stand out as near that 6ft 6 mark and slouches a fair amount with shorter people.
