He may have not ever been 6'4. Randy Quaid who is listed on this site at 6'4.5 and could very well be 6'5 had Chase by 1.5 inches it looked to me so 6'3.5 is my guess on him.

who can forget that in fletch? movie history! i loved that part.he was 6-4.though in my pics with him he can look 6-1,6-2.so yeah,i see what you mean,he can fluctuate.

Have anyone of you seen Fletch. When he is dreaming being a basketball player, they say he 6'5" and 6'9" with the Afro. He has referred to himself as 6'4" many times, which was his true height (not less in his prime).

real strange, i watched CADDYSHACK and he looked as short as 6'2 and sometimes as tall as 6'5
i am a legit 6'4 and i tell you Chase definetely looked in the 6'3.5 to 6'4 area, the difference is Chase was thinner than me, i got a bit of a wide shoulders ala JARED PADELECKI, Chevy Chase was skinny and this made him look taller than he is.
unfortuantely the TV has this bad thing that can make you shorter/taller depending on shots.
reality : i think Chevy Chase was really a 6'4 flat not rounding anything, although today he looks 6'3 to 6'3.5

Rob, I think he might have been 6'3.5 and rounding up because if Randy Quiad is 6'4.5 and not 6'5, he was always like an inch taller than Chase in all the Vacation movies.

Of course he is tall or at least 6'4! Look at him in "You can call me Al" with Paul Simon, he looks so huge next to Simon (who's like 5'4 or something)!

Chase was a truly tall guy in his prime. I recall him towering over fellow SNL castmates, including 6'1" Akroyd, but I don't think he was the full 6'4" he was always billed at.

From this video, it's plain to see that he's of very similar height to 6'3" Elliott Gould, just a smidge taller (4:55 gives a good angle). In Chase's defence though, I think Gould could be one of the rare breed who are actually a bit taller than listed. 6'3.5" is probably accurate for Chase.

I believe that Chevy was really no more than 6'3" in his prime and is probably a little shorter now. If you watch Fletch, he is only slightly taller than Tim Matheson, who was never more than 6'2".

Got an autograph that really just looks like a scribble from Chevy at the Vanity Fair party at Morton's in L.A. He was very tall but not taller than my 6'2.5" boyfriend. I think 6'2" is more accurate but still very tall, especially for Hollywood.

Just watched "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." While Chevy Chase looked tall, he was bettered by at least an inch by Randy Quaid, both of whom are said to be 6'4". In the 1989 film, Chase was 46 and Quaid 39.

Yea I'd say Chevy's 6'4 or 6'3.5 nowadays but he was always a tall skinny guy he sometimes seemed bigger cause he was so wirery but ^'3.5 I'd say is probally exact.
