Annette Funicello is listed 5'1 here. I've seen 5'1-5'3 for her.

Even at 5'3, I would say Frankie's 5'6 is a bit of a stretch - Maybe its just their respective postures throwing me Click Here

Rob says
'the other scenario is Ladd really was taller than I give him, which isn't dismissed.'

You may remember many years ago i argued 5'7 for Alan. Well I've seen some You-tube clips of Alan in scenes with Elisha Cook and Virginia Mayo (no longer available) that suggests you have Alan spot on, or maybe even a cm or so too high.

Have a look with 5 foot June Allyson...your better at guessing heel size than me.

Check out this Ladd scene from 17-19 mins with Sophia Loren - notice the change in Ladds height from the full shot with the guy in the suit to Sophia's appearance in the scene

With her thin shoes (I assume) and his position he was looking near 5ft 9 there in that scene.

Rob says,
'I'd need to see that Guns of Timberland film, see if they have scenes together.'

Well i very much doubt the director would show anything that didn't favour Alan - check out the scenes of Alan with Elisha Cook in Shane. The director made Alan look 4 inches taller, whereas in reality they were pretty close IMO

Here's another behind the scenes shot from Guns of the Timberland Click Here

Looking at Rising's picture with Stallone Click Here I don't believe he was ever
over 5'5

He was shorter than Alan Ladd - pic on google

I give him credit for admitting to the elevator shoes, you can see he has big heels in this 1990 appearance on Good Morning America: Click Here Those are probably custom boots with an extra lift inside as well. Don't know how much height he's lost or if he still wears elevators, but Stallone towers over him in recent years: Click Here I remember seeing him as the killer in an early 80s slasher film, which I think was called "Blood Song" and they did make him look pretty close to average. Not big by any stretch and I'm sure he had his elevators on in hindsight, but he's probably pretty honest and was about a weak 5'7" or this listing.

He always looked really short to me. What I don't understand is that he admitted that he was barely 5' 7" yet he gets listed at 5' 8".

I just saw him on a 1975 episode of Celebrity Bowling. He was one of four bowlers, the others being Kate Jackson, Edward Albert (age 24), and Rory Calhoun. They were all wearing bowling shoes. Kate, who is listed as 5'7½" on some websites, was taller than Frankie by at least 3 inches. He is 5'4½" max.

More like 5'4. Rosemarie Frankland was 5'6 and appears 2 inches taller standing next to Frankie Avalon in 'I'll Take Sweden'.

Here's 5'6.5 Frankie Avalon next to Alan Ladd. Frankie in my opinion is 5'3-5'4, never taller than 5'5.

Avalon is 5'3" flat, based on his film and television appearances.

A lot of box work through the years, he isn't even 5' 6".

Oh, he was definitely lying. It was so obvious on screen. I just saw a Patty Duke rerun he guest starred on. He was only a couple of inches taller than the 5' Patty. It changed a little from scene to scene. In the static scenes, where they stood still next to each other, he looked maybe 6" taller; but where they were walking around, he looked 3-3 1/2 inches taller. In scenes with Jean Byron (5'9"), she was about a head taller than him. He was 5'7" maybe in lifts and standing on a box!

Him saying he is barely 5'7" would pretty much confirm to me that he is under 5'7". I think he should be downgraded to 5'6" or 5'6.5" at most.

Rob is there a chance he is the 5ft 6in range now he is 71 nearly 72 he must have lost a inch by now he was defiantly in the 5ft 7in range when he was younger.
Editor Rob
that would be probable

Total lie, met him 6 times, 5' 6" might be generous, 5' 5" is correct, wears elevators is correct, nice guy..doesn't age.

He always looked really small to me? I think he was a weak 5f4 in his prime :S
