Rob, can Buchholz please be given 5’9.75”?

He could look a decent 5 ft 10 guy like Burton I think.

Rob can you add Fanny, Love from Paris, Nine Hours to Rama, The Empty Canvas, Cervantes and From Hell to Victory?

Yeah I agree that 177cm looks about right. He could have bee 5'10" earlier in the day but he really did look 5'9" range in 9 hours.

He does look a good 5'10" next to John Mills though but I think 177cm is fine for him.

Na I've changed my mind. Nine hours isn't a good film for judging in comparison as most of the actors were not famous ones and height is unknown but I got a good look at him in that film and proportionally he looked 5'9" range, and was shorter than another guy in the film who looked as if he'd be about 5'11. He didn't look over 5'10". I think 177cm is a fair listing actually. Possibly 5'10" but I think this listing is about right. The only comparison I saw was with that Marne Maitland and he looked about 3 inches taller, I think Maitland was 5'6" range near 5'7".

Watching Nine Hours to Rama now, José Ferrer his co-star was supposedly 5'9 and a quarter, I'll look out for any scenes between them..

Rob, watch 1 hr 27 and 1 hr 32 pause at 1:32:45 in particular. I don't think he looks under 5 ft 10 next to John Mills. I'd upgrade him an inch.

5ft 9.5 I still think could be close, he could be 5ft 10, Mills is about 50 there

He's pretty creepy looking isn't he, he reminds me of Taylor Lautner! Good actor though. I've got the Magnificent Seven on DVD, haven't seen it in years but I think he was taller than Bryner as Willy says.

My honest feeling is that he wasn't quite as low as this but I'll help you out with this Rob and see some of his films and leave you some feedback. I mean to think he was only half an inch taller than Brando for instance is very odd as he seems a good 3 inches taller on screen than Brando.

Watching Tiger Bay right now and he actually seems nearer 6 ft at times, but haven't seen him next to John Mills yet. He looks about 3 inches taller than Marne Maitland, a very notable character actor who you'll have seen in tons of films. I guessed him at 5 ft 7 in Bond but if Buchy is 5'9.5" I'd guess 5'6.5"

I read that he was frequently described as 180 cm on his German home turf, and I think that this might have been possible as peak height. In The Magnificent Seven, Buchholz looks noticeably taller than around 5'9'' Yul Brynner and a bit taller than around 5'10'' Steve McQueen. Naturally, the whole cast was in boots and hats, but I doubt that it was Horst of all people who had the biggest heel. I believe that he was the third tallest member of the Seven. Maybe an upgrade to 5'10.75''?

One of my teachers was a stuntman on "TMS" as well, put him at 5'10"-5'11" which makes sense looking at him next to Brynner & McQueen. Put him at 180cm

5'10 or 10.5 according to a stuntman on "Magnificent Seven"

He didn`t look much taller than Cagney in One, two, three. Cagney looked around 5`6. 5`9 at the most

Rob: my 2 references, 'Movie Encyclopedia' and 'Hooray for Hollywood' both state Buchholz's height as 5-10. I have seen him on an episode of Charlie's Angels and I have a fan mag that has a photo of him with the cast. I will get back to you if I find anything in the article! He was also in a mini-series called 'How the West Was Won' (1978). Maybe Frank2 knows him and/or can post some photos.

I could see 5ft 10 for him...
