How much can his boots give anyways? Max would prolly be around 2 inches I think. Highly doubt it goes beyond that. If you notice his footwear and his stance, you can see him leaning akwardly at times. As a lift wearer, I have seen pics of myself in akward poses as well as opposed to standing straight.

Hmmm...cant really rule out the lifts though. Coz i think when wearing bigger heels even for me, the length of the pants does not alter. The jeans will come accordingly and rest on the top of the shoe. haha does that make any sense at all? All based on a lift wearer perspective of course. I hvae noticed robert downey as well. He has really normal 5`8 proportions in normal pics. But at premiere events, the body proportions go way off. In pant length he can stretch from 32L jeans to 34L. According to Ian`s model profile, his leg length is of 32 I believe. Which is usually normal for most 5`9 to 5`10. Of course diff people have diff leg lengths. However, only at events, it looks like his pant length increases to 34 which is usually what a 5`11 or 6 footer would have. I am 5`9 myself wearing 31 or 30 length jeans. But with lifts on, I def stretch to 32.

After going through certain pics, the length of his leg pants seem extra long at certain events. As mentioned before, when I am indeed wearing lifts myself, I have to make sure that my pants are also extended by 2 inches to accommodate the lift. Hence, the legs look a whole lot longer for my proportions. I seem to notice that about him as well. Certain pics show a normal proportion. There was one pic in an award show where his legs seem extra extra long. lol

Agencies often lie about models heights (either rounding them up or down). Many models listed at 6'0" are 5'10". Oliver Cheshire a model has done runway for Dolce and Gabbana and many other designers even though he is 5'9". There are no rules, if a model has a unique or desirable look than they will accept them despite their lack of height.

Hey Rob I have a question to ask you, when I get up in the morning I'm 5' 91/2'' and during the day I drop down to 5' 91/4'' and by late night like 11pm I'm 5' 9'' sometimes 5' 87/8'' depending on sleep, would you call that a strong 5' 9'' ?

Hey Rob I have a question to ask you, when I get up in the morning I'm 5' 91/2'' and during the day I drop down to 5' 91/4'' and by late night like 11pm I'm 5' 9'' sometimes 5' 87/8'' depending on sleep, would you call that a strong 5' 9'' ?

Although, perhaps the photo is taken with Straithairn very early in the day and that accounts for Somerhalder looking taller. I was fairly shocked to find that when I measured my own height after a long hard day I was 5'9.4 when I am slightly over 5'10 in the morning, that means I could look as little as 5'9 or as much as 5'10. Perhaps the same goes for Somerhalder.

Next to David Strathairn (listed as 5'11.5 here) he looks to be only giving a way an inch at most, and even with heeled shoes, or with Strathairn standing straight, Somerhalder must be at least 5'9.75 if not 5'10 in my opinion.

Editor Rob you are fully entitled to believe he's any height you want him to be. I didn't need more than 5 seconds in my mind to realise the only way he'd be 5-8 is with lifts.

Editor Rob no, I say believe he's still five nine at night because, this was afternoon, he'd been sitting a lot signing, which puts pressure on spine so I think hed be near lowest height anyway and looked legit five nine at this time, maybe 176cm more than 175, but very hard to say. I was actually up since one am driving for six hours so I am at very lowest night height, I think.
But then from afternoon to night I barely lose more than two more mm anyway so most pics of me I'm ninety eight percent of the time in the 172.7 - 173.2cm range.

Well to name a few, freddie ljungberg(arsenal fc player) models for calvin klein and not like any part time thing, he's actually one of their top models and is big time into modelling and he is 175 - 176. Mark wahlberg used to be a supermodel and the best in his time and he's actually the guy who single handedly made calvin klein more popular then they every were and he is maybe a max of 175 but there is a dabate that he might be close to 5 feet 8 and right now is listed as 173. Martin henderson is a max of 175 but listed as 174 and he was a top model so it depends....you can say that freddie ljungberg and mark wahlberg were already popular and all cause of their backgrounds and their offscreen personna but that doesnt stand true for martin henderson and ian somerhalder to a large extent but ya you cant be 5 feet 5 or something and expect to be a supermodel unfortunately......that's how the world works, there are some careers where you have to be tall or atleast average to make it big....so if you are a little short like maybe like 5 feet 8, you still stand a chance to make it big.

Ian can look very good AND has a great posture. He does look 5'6'' - 5'9'' but I guess he's really 5'9''. His weight is 150lbs or something. That's what a Lost Fanbase had somewhen last year. There was a thread about the smokers on Lost and than Ian started chain-smoking again before his character was killed off but also that he worries to gain wheight when he stops, he's 150lbs and just 5'9''.

Alright people... you ALL need to get this through your heads!!!! You do not need to be any specific height or weight to be a model, or anything for that matter. It is not the LAW, most fashion designers like models to be tall and thin, but there are many many exception to the rule. What kind of world do you think we live in... will they throw you in jail if you are a model under 6'0"?
You cannot assume a person's height based on their profession.
