I remember laughing when they said, ‘Six feet,’ because me and about 20,000 other people in the arena knew that was a lie. I'm Five-Foot-Ten on a good day.

5'10 seems like a stretch, 5'8 more likely especially when you see that picture of him with Jalen Brunson (6'0) and Seth Curry (6'1). Also Jason Terry (6'1) his teammate looked considerably taller when next to him.

Dallas News:

Well, Barea got measured on Monday. The verdict?

“Five-ten,” Barea said with a smile. “I thought it was going to be a little bit less, but I got to 5-10, so I’m good.”

Rob here is a photo of Barea and Jose Alvarado. Alvarado measured 5'11 barefoot at one point. Do you think he is 5'10 5/8 to 5'10 3/4 before bed?
Editor Rob
Doesn't look much in it between Alvarado and Barea. If he got 5ft 11, I would think he drops under it at least 1/3rd of an inch.

@Editor Rob: he himself thought he was 5’9 or closer to it so it’s definitely a better fit. That’s a perfect fit
Canson said on 3/Aug/21
@Editor Rob: 5’10 3/4” in sneakers? That’s 5’9.5” barefoot given the 1.25 the sneaker gives you. Signals a morning measurement this time if he’s 5’10”. He’s max 5’9.5”. A 5’9.75 guy isn’t usually gonna say 5’10 on a good day. If you remember Doncic got 6’6.75 and he’s listed 6’6.25” here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Doncic is 6’6 flat afternoon

5ft 9.5 could well be a fair figure for JJ

See below. He was scared he was only going to measure 5’9”. This has to be a morning measurement (his 5’10”)

Seth curry is not 6’2. He’s under 6’1 as Andyshi said. Probably a strong 6’ or weak 6’1 and 6’1 early morning
Canson said on 14/Feb/21
5’10 morning height. He could be as low as 5’9.25 perhaps or 5’9.5 more than likely
Andyshi said on 28/Dec/20
Seth Curry measured 6'1 and Jalen Brunson measured 6'0.5 at the combine and more than likely that was morning height.

Here is a pic of Mavs Legend JJ with 6'1 Jalen Brunson and 6'2 Seth Curry, looks like JJ actually holds up pretty well compared to those guys. Any chance JJ could be a bit over 5'10?

5’9.5 afternoon

Even 5'9.75" should be fun, but 176 cm sounds good anything.

Top guy, it would have been so easy to lie! 👖🔥🦷!

Honest for admitting he's nowhere near 6'0".
truthtellr said on 16/Oct/19
Barea is telling the truth he is 5'9 even I like his down to earthness. Jason the Jet Terry was 6'1 or 6'2 and towered him by about 5 inches therefore he couldn't be near 6'0 :)

@Rob, how come Dirk Nowitzki hasn't gotten a height page yet. Listed 7'0" throughout his nba career but I see him as 6'10.

Most likely 5'9.5:

You really have to appreciate this guys honesty. Steph Curry should take notes as he just claimed to be 6’2.75” barefoot!
Jjbareais5-8andhalf said on 11/Oct/19
If he's measured 5-9 and 3/4 with shoes on means he must be 5-8 and half without and he looks it. Rob can you downgrade his height to 5-8 and half ?? Looking at the pic he doesn't even look like a legit 175cm guy . He looks more in the 173cm range to be honest with all of you. I think all of you agree with me.
TheBat said on 9/Oct/19
Thank god he's honest. He can definitely reach 5'10" flat.

@Johnson: they did for certain players. He likely was very close to 5’10” (3/4-1”) if he got a 5’10” listing versus 5’9.75. He did say on a “good day” so he is likely 5’9.5” afternoon height. Some of The Sixers players had exact whereas some of the Mavs players like Luka Doncic got 6’6.75 for his. He doesn’t look as tall as he was measured physically. There are multiple pics with Harrison Barnes and he’s shorter. Barnes is now listed 6’6” so likely he got measured a few hours after waking and was more 199 and rounded down

It's really impressive he's made the league and had a lot of playing time at that height and with below-average athleticism (in NBA terms). He's listed at 185lbs, but I think that's an exaggeration by about 10lbs. NBA usually list weight rather accurately, but gives in-shoes height listings. NFL usually lift height rather accurately, but the weight listings can be quite misleading (in either direction). For example, while not a huge deviation, Adrian Peterson is listed at 220lbs, but he has said that he is mostly below 210lbs in-season.

I like how Rob picked the right photo for the quote below, lol
Johnson said on 7/Oct/19
I meant 5'9.75 perhaps he was measured at that
Johnson said on 7/Oct/19
I wish they reveal the exact fraction for this season

Yes he will be listed 5'10 they say but we need the fraction revealed, on the dot 5'10 75 or what
OnabillC said on 7/Oct/19
He still get billed at 5 ft 10, which in my opinion will make no differnce, Mike Conley is 5 ft 11 / 5ft 10 3/4 with out shoes and he's one of the best of the 2 way PGs
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 7/Oct/19
He's not too tall compared to the last basketball player I commented on! 11.25" is a BIG difference.

5ft9.75.
