I have been watching Joanne in a particularly caring role, befitting of her personal life (cheers Courtney!), playing the devoted psychiatrist of an extremely troubled young girl. The film is called 'Sybil', and it was an award-winning mini-series which I first saw when I was a youngster.

The young girl was played by Sally Field, who looked considerably smaller than Joanne. I expected to see 5ft6 for her! How small does that make Sally Field? I'll have to check that one out later...

I will put 5ft4.25 for Joanne because I don't disbelieve that she topped 5ft4 at her peak, as written in the 1988 article mentioned above. Great actress, by the way!

thanks for that info I've admired Mrs Woodward from a young age not only for her talent as an actress but also for how she conducted her personal life and cared so much for those less fortunate particularly sick/disabled children

Rob can you add a photo and films like The Long, Hot Summer (that's both one film of course), Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams (that's both one film), Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, The Fugitive Kind, The Stripper and A Big Hand for the Little Lady. Have you seen The Three Faces of Eve? Very good film, the lighting and staging of some of the moments in it are quite masterful, plus Lee J. Cobb, one of my favourite actors was in it. A well-deserved Best Actress oscar. I've been trying to move towards finishing the best actress winners. I've seen except the first two or three (which you can't get on DVD or online) up until Maggie Smith's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie now, I'd seen all the ones from 1958 to 1968 already!

a few of those films I've never seen yet.
