I read an article which said he was 6'1" once, which is definately out of the question. I did see him at the Biltmore in Santa Barbara a few years back and I would have guessed he was about 5'10", it is difficult to analyse when someone makes a brief entrance then exits, so 5'9" could be right

There is a scene from Disclosure where Douglas and 6 foot or maybe 6'1'' Dylan Baker is standing next to eachother. Shoes look normal. Douglas is max 2.5 inches shorter, that would make him 5'10'' barefoot. He must have been 5'10'' until a couple of years back. Maybe he is 5'9'' now.

i believe hes 5'10. He's slouching a bit and could have 2 inches on Glenn. He could be a little less-by a centimetre or so but i don't see him shrinking an inch. not while his wife his keeping him young, if you know what i mean!

Based on the pic with Glenn, Michael has become hunched back. He's not leaning his neck forward on purpose. It looks like it's being forced that way by his posture. It's clear that this man can't stand straight anymore. He's lost height as a result of this for sure.

Michael Douglas was next to me in the commissary at 20th Century Fox in the mid 80's. I was shocked at how short he is. I am 5'10" and had 2 1/2" heels on, and he was MUCH shorter than my husband, who was 5'9" (deceased). I would say he might be 5'8" with shoes on, and perhaps even "elevators." I would have guessed him to be 5'6-7" in his bare feet. Intrigues me that many times men give their height with shoes on, and women in bare feet, which definitely makes a difference. A surprising amount of actors wear elevator shoes or inserts too, because many of the actresses are quite tall and height is often seen as power.

Mr. Douglas was kind enough to hold a door open for me, when he was visiting a Spa where I then worked. This was in the mid-eighties. We both had flat shoes on, as I passed very close to him. I am 5'8", according to my MD. I say I'm 5'9" to pad it. Anyway, he was clearly at least an inch shorter than myself.

Met him and CZJ recently playing golf in Bermuda. I spoke with both while we were all together at the turn. Douglas is NO taller than 5'9" and C.Z. Jones is 5'7". Both were very pleasant and decent (not great) golfers.

His height varies because he is know to wear lifts. In the pix above next to Glenn, Michael was wearing a suit which makes me suspects that he was probably wearing dress shoes with hidden heels. He probably wears lifts in the movies too.

All I'm saying, Dave, is that my husband is 5'9", and that Michael Douglas was significantly shorter. Don't put words in my mouth - I never said "my husband towered over him." But as someone who has spent the last twenty years standing next to a man who is 5'9", I can tell you that Michael Douglas didn't even appear close to that height. Also, why are you so upset about this. It's supposed to be a fun website. Perhaps the stars wear lifts so much that we refuse to believe that they're really shorter than they are. Or perhaps we refuse to believe that the movie stars that we admire would knowingly deceive their adoring public.

Each time I've seen Douglas he's only appeared to be about an inch or so shorter than me. I'd say he'e 5'10". Watch Michael on the old TV show The Streets of San Francisco. He's not that much shorter than 6'1" Karl Malden. And Karl was 6'1" back then. Today Karl has packed down to about 5'11". I saw him back then and I saw him a few years ago.

In that film with viggo mortensen you mention Rob, I think it was Perfect Murder or something, Douglas had a very strange walk, really looked like he had lifts in his shoes the way he was walking.

Michael and I trained the the same gym for years (Santa Barbara Gym and Fitness). He is taller than I thought. My guess is that he is 6'. I'm 6'2" and although he wasn't as tall as I am, he is not short. Looks and sounds like he is a very heavy smoker.

I believe that Kirk Douglas was 5 ft 9 at his peak. He has admited that he wored in a lot of his movies lifts. Michael Douglas could have been 5 ft 10.5 at his peak, but really don't more than that.

Catherine is 5'5". I have seen her and Michael in Telluride Colorado. She was small, even in ski boots. Also, she was too short (and short-looking) to model when she was young.
