I met Randy Newman at the airport and he was shorter than me. Im 5’8. He’s listed as 6’0, no way. Love the guy.

Thinking of a contemporary who recorded an album comprised entirely of Randy's songs, Harry Nilsson looked like a pretty tall guy. Near Newman and John Lennon, Nilsson could look maybe a strong 6'1", maybe pushing 6'1.5".

Good addition, hard to say he was always a sloucher and can look barely 5'9" in the last decade (i.e. well edged by Neil Diamond). Maybe he once stood a strong 5'11" it's hard say. Short People was always meant to be a cheeky novelty song but he was bold to write it never having been six feet or over.

Yes, I remember it well, and never thought it was aimed at someone of my grand height! It was a funny little song, but I didn't buy it; I was already into hard rock by then!
