Roy Kinnear's Height
5ft 5 ½ (166.4 cm)
British actor, best remembered for appearing in films like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. He was quoted by the BBC as once saying "At five feet five-and-a-half inches, fat and balding there aren many juvenile leads for you, and so I became a character actor quite quickly."
Why "The Five-Foot-Nine Show"?

I saw Roy this morning on George and Mildred. He wasn’t much taller than Yootha Joyce, who was 5ft4.

My, I must admit that seeing a male’s height like Roy Kinnear’s at only 5’5.5” makes me feel very fortunate to be a full 5’10”. I’ve always been disappointed at never getting anywhere near that 6’2” mark I’ve always wished for, but I should just be thankful that I’m already taller than so many of the celebrities on here.
Arguably, Kinnear hardly looked a full two inches shorter than Don Knotts in Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, so 5’5.5” would definitely be the lowest I’d have gone with.

Ah! So he says that it's down to his proportions that he became a character actor. That's often the way with the vast majority of actors. I remember at 15 reading a success story in Slimming Magazine about an English actress who had been on a diet and completely reformed her look, then she bleached her hair and got a part in 'Coronation Street' as Mike Baldwin's 'trophy bird'! Before then, her parts were most unglamorous, but it was the losing of the surplus pounds rather than dying her hair which impressed me. She was a medium-heighted 5ft5, so looked tall in high heels.
I feel it's far more unfair for a shorter male actor in the world of showbiz. Roy could lose some weight for the sake of his health, but there is nothing wrong with a man with thinning hair, and far too many suffer desperate anxiety as a result. One of my friends had long hair with a bald patch, and he tried on my 'fun wigs'. Then he didn't want to take his favourite one off! 🤷♀️
Baldness is down to an excess of testosterone, so it shouldn't be frowned upon!

However, in Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Kinnear looks a good few inches taller than Jacques Marin! In Charade, Marin looks about as tall as Audrey Hepburn when she is wearing heels!
