Definitely around 5 ft 6, a smidge over I thought with Brynner. What did he claim, I could have sworn somebody quoted 5 ft 8 or 9!

Short guy. He looked under the 1`70 mark.

Finally got him on here! 5'6" range I think he could have been, fully grown I think he could have been 5'6"-5'7" range, but might have popped in lifts now and then.

Yes, Sal definitely looked longer in the leg than he did in Rebel when he was only 16.

I don't think when filming he was quite fully grown.

In google books I caught something which says he was very sensitive about his height and being short. If he was 5 ft 7 or 8 that would have been near average for his generation anyway. He had to be under average and look short with a lot of guys. There were a lot of big guys around in Hollywood during his era.

Thanks. in the ballpark anyway, definitely not 5 ft 8. Could look 5'6.5 with Brynner and a few others, but if he was height conscious you can never rule out a boost in his shoes. I think he had the frame of a guy this sort of height. He did look 5'5 flat with James Dean but he was only 16 and I think he grew a bit.
