Looks no taller than 5.11 next to 6.1 Richard Crenna in 1973s A Man Called Noon.

He didn't look six foot with 5'10" Christopher Plummer in "The Fall of the Roman Empire".

It was mentioned on the DVD commentary. Both Boyd and Jack Hawkins were wearing lifts in "Ben Hur".

Everyone wear lifts for you.

Boyd was 6.

This james guy is always downgrading all the people. And please, stop the lifts tale.

He stacked up well w/h Heston, could look 2-3in shorter at times in Ben Hur and then other times barely shorter!

A very strong 6ft at least.

@ Rob, he got described as "a lean (180 pounds), well built (six-foot-one)" in a June 1960 edition of Silver Screen magazine. I got a good look at him in Slaves and also remembering him with Heston I think 6'0.25 might be on the money.

He looked 1.84m next to Heston , so, he really was rounding down to 6'.

Don't forget his great starring roll in The Oscur

I think 5'11. Unless Heston really was the full 6'3.
Arch Stanton said on 21/Nov/14
Seems about right, Heston had him by about 2-2.5 inches I think in Ben Hur.

I thought he looked a fraction over the six foot mark next to Charlton Heston in Ben-Hur, maybe a solid 2 inches shorter. Amused by the anecdote that Boyd and William Wyler decided to play it that Boyd's character was in love with Ben-Hur but didn't tell Heston because he would hit the roof.
