I've met him a few times back in the mid 90's when I was still living in the Sherman Oaks area, and I'm certain he is nowhere near 6ft, what a liar if he said that. He was rather average height and moderate build, I don't think he is as low as 5'8" but definitely no taller than 5'10", so 5'9" actually sounds about right.

@Rob, How tall do you think his brother James (L) is exactly?
Could be an inch or so between them

Van Patten is approaching 60 and was a professional tennis player in the 1980's. Because of the wear and tear of the sport, I would assume that he has lost some height. I would estimate his current height at 5'8".

I remember Vince being taller (as the bionic boy) than Lee Majors, back in the 70's. I know a family that met him, while they wwere filming that show in Utah. I remember them estimating him at 5-11. One of them said that he was as tall as she, and she was 5-11. They said that Majors only appeared as 5-9 or 5-10!

All of the Van Patten brothers (Nels, James and Vincent) are approximately the same height at 5'10". Their dad Dick has shrunk a few inches, since he is now in his 80's. I'd guess his height is now hovering around 5'8".

I think 5'8"-5'9" is accurate.

I met Vincent van Patten in when he was playing Ivan Lendl in an exhibition tennis match in near KL, Malaysia [in Petaling Jaya] in 1984. I asked him how tall he was - he said - 6 ft. He looked exactly 6 ft as well. We're both the same age, born in 1957 - so he would be the same height today - 6 ft. I am sure Tom Cruise is only 5 ft 7" - how on earth can he be 5'11"?
