I'm only 6-foot-7. You know how the league does it; you get to 6-foot-7, they give you two inches. You're 6-foot-2, they take two away.

Prince is supposedly 6’8 or maybe 6’8.25 is how he can look next to Rasheed max. Maybe Rip is 6’5 1/2”? 6’6 looks high but he has about 3.5 on Billups. Chauncey can look 6’2” or hair under the mark maybe
Canson said on 18/Sep/23
@Duhon: yea and the more I see Rasheed Wallace is tilting his head up a bit. Maybe full 6’7” or 6’6.75”. I can see the 6’6.75 only because his combine was 6’7.75”. Maybe they gave 1”? But 6’6.75 is likely a low for him if it is meaning equivalent to
When Kobe measured 6’4.75”
Duhon said on 3/Jun/23
@Canson in that group shot Ben Wallace looks to be standing slightly behind both Prince and Rasheed so is visually losing some height. I used to think those in line group shots were the best to gauge NBA players height but like I mentioned unless they are all literally standing in line shoulder to shoulder, it can be misleading.
Canson said on 1/Jun/23
@Duhon: even with an aged Magic who could be 6’7.25, probably no worse than 6’6.5-.75 range which is possible. 6’6 is too low. Rip Hamilton is an interesting case. He was supposed to be 6’6 measured but I’m seeing 6’5 here. He did look taller than Jordan with the wizards.

Wallace looks sub 6’7 with Rasheed Wallace 6’9.75 but maybe it’s the eye level

@Duhon: yea I agree. I doubt Green is less than 6’5 at a normal low. I also don’t rule out the listed height of 6’5.25” either or 196cm. All depends on how long he was on his feet before he made the video. He came out in the video at between 6’5 5/8-6’5 3/4 range. At 6’5.75 or a mm or so under. He could’ve been 6’6 out of bed or or 6’5 7/8 Or 3/4” if it were right after waking.

I can see the following:

Wallace 6’6.5-6’6.75 afternoon
Green 6’5-6’5.25 afternoon

@Basketball fan

There's a video of Draymond measuring himself barefoot and coming out at 6'6", now that is likely his high but it's unlike he falls under 6'5" during the mid-day based on that.
Canson said on 3/Jan/20
@Basketball Fan: I’d go more 6’6.5-.75 next to Russell or Rasheed Wallace. Draymond looks 1.5 maybe 2” max shorter. Draymond can look 6’5 flat at times but I don’t rule out an afternoon 6’5 1/8 perhaps 1/4” like he’s listed

@Canson I always doubt Bird is not over 205cm peak.
Canson said on 1/Aug/19
@Shane: looking at Larry Bird, would you say he dipped under 6’9” in his prime. I used to not think so but now i could almost see something like 6’8.75-6’9 or just 6’8.75. I always had Magic as 6’7.25ish maybe a bit over peak (6’8” or even a hair over out of bed). Magic hitting 6’7” tho would likely be an extreme low. He looked more a 6’7” and change guy than a regular flat 6’7” guy
Canson said on 18/Jul/19
@Shane: with Russell, he looks probably a weak 6’7”. Russell was probably closer to 6’9” at that stage
Canson said on 18/Jul/19
@Shane: that’s very true. And Some don’t even know that they’re claiming a shoe height either at times now a days since nurses and doctors measure in shoes today. They may forget that they didn’t take them off especially if they don’t pay attention to height or think about it. And doctors and nurses do it because they’re lazy now a days. They did it with my wife twice now. She went once in the morning when I took her and then once again in the afternoon recently when she went by herself where she was measured in shoes. She’s a tick under 5’7.75 barefoot when she’s been measured at a normal low (5’7.5 at extreme low) but the nurse measured her in her Sneakers she had on got 5’8.5 I believe. Chances are it was close to normal low but maybe slightly over as she was wearing Canvas shoes which are about 5/8”. The 5’8.5 may have been rounded up as well. She doesn’t bother to take her shoes off when they tell her not to. Her physical read 5’9 and the last one said 5’8” since it was barefoot and then the one before I think 5’9” since it was in the morning in shoes. She still claims “about 5’8” as she is aware of how tall she is and she even gets specific and says she’s 5’7 3/4” sometimes. But long story short, They probably just go with what the doctor measures them when they visit. As far as Wallace, he claimed 6’6/6’7” once too. I’m not sure how he measured 6’7.75 when he was drafted. That’s kind of like Dwayne Wade who Rob still had 6’3.75 until recently. He should at least reduce Wade to 6’3” flat as a start. He’s probably still at a low a weak 6’3”. My guess on Wallace for a normal low (afternoon) would be 6’6.5. Maybe at an extreme low 6’6.25. I don’t believe in claiming an extreme low myself. For example if someone is 6’1.75 out of bed and 6’1 at a normal low but goes to 6’0.75- 6’0 7/8 at an extreme low, I would still consider the flat 6’1” their true height for an afternoon height.
Shane Gray said on 17/Jul/19
All of us should keep one thing in mind as Canson and some others know: not everyone is lying about their height. In the United States, it is very common for young people AND many athletes to truly believe their real height is their height in shoes. It is also rather common just among the general public in America to claim shoe heights as their height. I know a lot of people who do not even think to measure themselves barefoot. So the point is, not everyone who claims a height that is obviously above their barefoot height is lying. Many are not lying. They just have a different barometer. Also, many people I know who claim a barefoot height claim their full, complete out of bed height. Their max height. I do this as well as there is nothing wrong with claiming your full height.
Shane Gray said on 17/Jul/19
@Canson: looking at the photos with teammates and Russell, there is no chance Wallace held 6'7" barefoot in afternoon. He MIGHT be 6'7" out of bed... maybe. This guy probably dipped close to all the way to 6'6" flat at an extreme low.
Shane Gray said on 17/Jul/19
No way was he 6'7" at an afternoon height. Closer to 6'6", Rob. One of the biggest height exaggerations in NBA history. Probably not much over 6'6" flat at an extreme low.

@Junior: definitely can’t trust every rumor but Wall is said to be that by everyone who meets him and looks to be only about Steph Curry size or maybe a tiny fraction taller like 1/4-3/8 max. Maybe 6’2 but I could buy as low as 6’1.5. This isn’t great but with Demar Derozan who I believe to be 6’5 I would say 6’1.5. I’ve heard 6’1-6’2 from more than one person

@Canson Meanwhile i couldn't think any worst than 6'6.75" for Wallace and Pippen both. I not even sure if John Wall is lower than 6'2.25" like people say from 6'1-6'2 in person, he seem to be level in height with Russell Westbrook and i know the draftexpress page previously had Wall by 6'2.75" without shoes i doubt it not that high but he seem a big 6'2 guy to me. Can't trust every rumors being told by others.

@Junior: the part about John wall I believe. I’ve heard from people who’ve met him that he’s 6’2 or less. I don’t know if I believe the others. Lebron and pippen are prob same size Wallace as well. All weak 6’7 to full 6’7
Canson said on 10/Oct/18
I believe his 6’6/6’7 claim. Weak 6’7” looks most plausible with a 6’9.75 Rasheed Wallace assuming this is a low for Wallace. Wallace looks shorter than Lebron in some pics honestly

Canson said on 11/Jul/18
@Duhon: that looks like an inch in the first pic and in the second, comparing Tmac to Duncan he’s max 6’10”. Duncan has camera advantage on KG in the 2nd pic
Canson said on 9/Jul/18
@Rising: I would give KG a full 6’11 but maybe he dips to something like a weak 6’11” at a low that’s always possible. I’d lean more toward 6’10.75 and Duncan looks “roughly” an inch shorter maybe that or could more likely be 2cm difference which looks feasible as well
Duhon said on 9/Jul/18
Duncan was always close in height to Garnett I don't think there was ever a full inch difference, maybe half inch if that. Click Here Click Here
Canson said on 9/Jul/18
@Rising: the 6’11” came after the 7’0”. I remember after Admiral
Left they tried him with guys like Rasho Nesterovic and others. They always had a center play alongside him. I can believe what you said 6’11” out of bed and 6’10” at a low. He at times could actually look shorter than Lamarcus Aldridge. LA could be like KD in that he’s grown a hair over 6’10” as he also edges Drummond and Brow. Yep I agree with you that Russell still holds 6’9” barefoot but Wallace to me looks more like a weak 6’7” with him. Wallace also looks sub 6’7” with Rasheed and with Hamilton.

Kevin Garnett was measured @ 6’11-1/4” barefoot.
Tim Duncan was 6’10” barefoot.
And yes, Bill Russell has held onto his height better than any pro athlete alive! In any sport, IMO!
Peak 6’9-5/8” & still 6’9” while approaching 80 years old! That’s impressive!
Rising - 174 cm said on 8/Jul/18
@Canson: I don't think Duncan was much different than many NBA "7 footers" even though you could very well be right that 6'11" could be a morning measurement. I really think they downgraded him to try to counter growing claims that Duncan had been playing center as he had the "greatest power forward" title. Certainly, we agree he's not 2" shorter than Robinson. Robinson could be 6'11.5", but I had always heard he was a 7 footer. Some of this may have been hyperbole based on what an athletic freak Robinson was before the back injury, but he was always a bit shorter than Shaq. I'm not saying Russell was still 6'9.5", but still holding 6'9" at 70+ is pretty amazing. KG at 6'10.5" is plausible with Shaq at a solid 7'0" and Garnett did look a tiny bit taller than Duncan.
Canson said on 8/Jul/18
@Rising: lol. You weren’t imagining it! He did say that before. I could agree with Rob that he’s not far below 6’7” but his 6’7” would likely be the equivalent to someone measuring 6’7 at a morning combine and dip to 6’6.5 or 6’6 5/8 at a low. That goes to show that pre drafts aren’t always the best source though because his shows 6’7.75 and he’s nowhere near that. I’d have an easier time believing that he measured in the afternoon in shoes at 6’7.75. I can’t see Duncan over 6’10” if anything maybe something like 6’10 1/8 but he may be 6’11” out of bed. They only listed him 7’0” when he played with Robinson in order to market them as the second coming of Sampson and Olajuwon. He got 6’11 every other year after that. But Admiral is said to be 6’11” range as well and he’s noticeably taller than Duncan. Russell didn’t still look the 6’9.5 or so with Duncan. He had lost height by then but I agree it’s prob not more than 1/2”. Russell also looked 6’9” with Lebron and Ben Wallace in pics
Rising - 174 cm said on 7/Jul/18
I'm fine with 6'7" flat as well, but I don't see him any taller than that and I do think Duncan could be anywhere from 6'10"-6'11", but Russell kept his height remarkably well. I didn't know Tayshaun was measured and thought he was one of the players who skipped the pre-draft camp, but I figured 6'9" was a shoe height for him. I think I remember the 6'6"/6'7" claim as well, but wasn't sure if I was imagining it lol.
Canson said on 7/Jul/18
@Rob: it’s not much I doubt. However, 6’6.5 can’t be ruled out if he said 6’6/6’7 and if he is that small with a guy who probably measures 6’9.75 or 6’10 although I believe that’s a low for Rasheed 6’9.75
Canson said on 7/Jul/18
@Rising: well said! Yes Ben Wallace played Center while Rasheed played the 4. That was by design as Sheed was a stretch 4. Way ahead of his time with that.

@Rob: I have to agree with Rising about 6’6” range because Wallace said out of his own mouth that he’s “small” and said he’s 6’6/6’7”. The 6’7” is likely rounded up a bit and he’s likely 6’6.5-6’7 somewhere in there. He surely is not 6’7 with Rasheed Wallace. Rasheed measured 6’9.75 when he was drafted. Also Tayshaun Prince measured around 6’8” when he was drafted. That looks close to accurate

With Bill Russell, he looks 6’6” range (6’6.5-.75). Russell had aged when he took that pic and looks 6’9” max with 6’10 Tim Duncan.

@Junior: Wallace played a lot more center during his first stint in Detroit, but he was indeed one of the best and one of the guys who could dominate a game defensively. Impressive he was able to play center back when the league was still big. It'd be an understatement to say he was undersized: Click Here He was closer to the height of a lot of wings like T-Mac: Click Here Just look at him next to Shaq and Ilgauskas in this all-star photo: Click Here Nobody would think they played the same position. In fact, a tweener forward like 6'7.75" Antawn Jamison is clearly taller there. Also, if Rasheed Wallace was 6'9.75" then Ben can look shorter here as well: Click Here It's possible he's only 6'6" range.
