Agreed. 189 cm max for a morning height, at his peak. I do believe in the 90s he was legitimately at least a 6'1.5" guy, if not 6'2".

Clinton traveled with Obama (first campaign) to my town and took pictures with everyone who would cough up a $1,500 donation for our President's first run at office. My friend's father was a high roller in the Democratic party so he bought his son and all of his friends (me included) picture time with Bill. I'll give Clinton every last inch of 6'2." (may have lost some height to age by now) He stands very relaxed and wears low-heel dress shoes that probably only add 1/2 inch. I've actually seen him listed at 6'3" quite a few times. That may be a stretch but he's definitely a tall guy and one of our nation's tallest Presidents. The tallest two are Abe Lincoln and L.B. Johnson who were both 6'4." L.B. Johnson looks HUGE in Youtube clips about the Vietnam war. When he was pictured in Vietnam, he looked like he was 7'0" tall next to the local politicians. That leads me to an interesting fact to end on. I heard, now this is totally unconfirmed, that only Navy SEALS 5'10" and under were allowed to go to Vietnam on missions where they tried to blend in with natives. Supposedly, anything taller would have been an obvious giveaway. I wonder if this is really true?!

Jake, the only thing I think could explain it is that he did have a either a triple or quadruple bypass, and those surgeries are known to age a person quite a bit. He was definitely 6'2" at one time.

I have stood no more than 2 feet away from Bill Clinton. I am an honest 6'2. I felt that he was at least 3 inches shorter than me. He was wearing dress shoes that had a decent sized heel, as well.

It amazes me how so many folks are obsessed with a persons height rather than the issues. We are talking 6ft vs 6-2 inch, come on folks!! Napolean did not conquer the Western World and go down in history as being tall. Being smart and confident is where it's at.

Just saw Bill on Letterman (October 12) and WOW, he looks downright tiny on Letterman's chair. He walked to his chair very slowly and he looked hunched over. I'm sorry, but this is NOT the same man who took office in the 1960's. I don't care what these people who only claim he was 6'1" or 6'0" flat. That's just plain WRONG. My uncle met him in Princeton many years ago (1988). She said Bill Clinton, with many probablity, was 6'2" (1.88 m) at his peak, so out of bed, and when she spoke with him was 6'1"-6'1.25" (1.85-1.86 m)...I don't know now, but i'm agree to say his real height was 6'2" in his youth!

We talked briefly in a concourse at the Mobile Convention Center about Arkansas football and whether it would join the Southeastern Conference. He said he was sure they would, and they did. One thing I noted was that Clinton and I were exactly the same size, not only in height but it appeared everything else, suit size, etc. I mean exactly. You can't always use the eye level formula to be precise in height gauging. The top of Clinton's head is still about 5 inches above Glenn's. This is inlight of Clinton's puffy hair. 6'1" is right.

Hi. I saw President Clinton a couple of times in Austin, Texas. Once I was about 5 feet from him and once closer. He looked 6'1.5" or so tall (minus shoes). He was heavier in both instances. I'm over 6'4.5" tall, and I would say he was about 8 cms shorter than me.

I think Clinton is and always has been a fraction over the 6'1'' mark (186cm). Would make him 189cm/6'2 1/2'' in his shoes, which is most likely how that measurement came about. The man said himself he's 6'1'', can't get a better source than that.

I remember him looking just taller than Boris Yeltsin (187 cm/6'1½"), and just shorter than Jacques Chirac (189 cm/6'2½"). So 188 cm sounds like a good guess, if I got it right :D
Presuming everyone's honest about their height – I think those are the official marks.

Don't worry about the eyes in the picture of Clinton and Blair, look at the heads! Clinton is considerably taller, then look at each one's posture, Blair: straight back, head back, Clinton: head foward, back arched. Maybe Blair is a little shorter than he lets on.

The man has thinned out over the years, that's for sure. He's lost an inch to an inch and a half and a good 25 pounds as well, if not more.

Lol, the king of Spain is 186cm. Was measured that in the army and still looks
it spite his age. I posted time ago some pics with him and president of spain Zapatero 6'. he looks an inch ore a bit more taller than the king. So a smidgeon over 6'2" looks posible.

Anonymous.. Notice Lacy is 5'11" on that Olympic page while he is now listed at 5'9".. so it can go either way.
Taylor is a solid 6'0", perhaps a smidgeon over.. I still think that propels Billy Boy to nearly 6'2"

Mr Awesome, judging by your parting comment, I'd say you are the one who has the emotional reaction as to whether Clinton is or isn't in office. I was simply commenting on his height. Personally, I don't judge someone's character or achievements by how tall they are, so if he's shorter than I've always assumed, I wouldn't care in the least. All I pointed out was that to be confident that he could be 6'1.5 and entirely rule out 6'2 was odd. Rant all you like, but one half inch is frankly nothing and difficult for anyone to judge from 30ft. If your eyesight is as well advanced as your ego, you might have a shot though.
I do think he's lost height in the last few yrs and recall him being clearly taller than Blair in the 90s - enough to put him at the 6'2 mark. The Jermain Taylor pic also suggests that. Of course lifts are a possibility, but that's hard to pin down.

I saw a picture of ray romano and clinton together, and they were eye for eye, but some how Romano is listed at like over 6"3 ( which is laughable) but Id say they are both are the 6"1.5 category

Yeah, Clinton has been 6-2 all these years with shoes plus lifts. I can beleive that. They just took his height with all that on his feet to give him an edge in 1992 against the 6-2 Bush Sr.

So from 30 ft you can say he's "at the very least a solid 6'1...probably 6'1.25-6'1.5", but completely rule out 6'2? That's some gift you have to be able to judge half an inch from 30 feet ;-)

My father's cousin lives in the same town as Clinton in suburban New York, right down the street from him. I've seen the former president a few times around town, at a local country club, and even once when I drove by his house. (You can't stay too long around there or they say the secret service comes out lol). The closest I've gotten to him is about 30 feet. He does look to be at the very least a solid 6'1''. He is probably 6'1.25''-6'1.5'', however, Rob since it's hard to judge a quarter inch I wouldn't put it past him to be a shade over 6'1''. One thing is for certain though; he's definitely not 6'2'' or over. No question in my mind.
