Rob, can we compromise on 6’1.75” peak for Clinton?

I’m drawn to 6’1.5” peak; Clinton and Jacques Chirac were basically the same height in the 1990s, and 6’2.25” George Bush Senior had close to an inch on Chirac in the 1980s. All other users here also seem to agree on a weak 6’2” for Clinton.

i read somwehere that he had 48 in shoes size ( europe) thats 14,5 in us size. That seems alot for a guy with not the biggest bone structure. My grandfather, uncle and dad all have/ had 47 ( 14) at similar height and i think that is very big, but 48? I have 15 ( 49,5) but are muthc taller. I have a feeling he is a guy that " round up" on most thing. real height 187,5 ( 189 out of bed) shoe size 46-47 and claims 48. Just my guess on how he works.

Mandela was then already 76 years old and even at that time he didn't look like a two inch shorter than Bill! I think Clinton at 48 couldn't have lost anything yet, but by the end of his second term at 55 he probably lost 1/4 to 1/2 inch. In my opinion, 6ft 1.75 for Clinton and 6ft 2.25 for H. W. Bush are better lists than keeping both of them at 6ft 2 when Clinton was looking quite shy for this mark and H. W. Bush looked over it most of the time. Rob, I think Bill needs an update, also his current height.

Disagree Christian, Bush was more likely a bit over 6ft2 (consistently 1in+ taller than legit 6ft1 men). Trump as well in the 80's could look that, 6ft2 flat is fine but not under. Clinton I've always said was probably a guy that fell a little below the 6ft2 mark by afternoon/evening, solid 187cm

Whilst rewatching videos featuring Chirac and Clinton from the 1990s, I actually now find them nearly inseparable in height. Perhaps Clinton and Chirac both peaked at 6’1.5”, with Chirac maybe having at better chance of being 6’1.75” at one point. In my opinion, this comparison is much more difficult than Chirac vs d’Estaing.

She is often cited as having been 4'10", sometimes even 4'9". It is exceedingly rare to have someone anywhere near that height in such positions of power. I agree with that but no less. I do think that 6ft2½ quote carries some weight in that he may have measured a bit over 6ft2 shortly after rising. I've said it before, I don't Bill was a guy that maintained 6ft2 at low but dropped a bit under it after a hard day's graft solving the world's problems!


On the contrary, I think the 6ft2¼ mark should be strongly argued for Bush Sr.

I’d say 6’2”. He looked the same height as Clinton at the 1996 Presidential Debates, when Dole was 73. It is not uncommon to have a lost a few inches by your seventies, so maybe Dole was even taller than 6’2” as a younger man. As it’s Dole’s 98th birthday today, I feel now would be a great time to create a page for him.

Within an hour of waking up I could see him getting close to it. The claim carries more weight than. I've looked again and I think 6ft2 is still an ok place for Bill and consider moving Trump a little north of it, maybe by a quarter. In the 80-90's, Donald seemed the more stonewall 6ft2

- Obama and Clinton entered office at their peak and Barack has clearly held on to his height through his 50’s, I doubt more he’s shipped more than 0.5-1cm. Clinton by the end of his run was looking shorter and more haggard.

- Bush Sr. entered office close enough to his peak, still edged Clinton at the end of his four years.

- Reagan, Biden and Trump were all down from their peak entering office. Biden has done better than the other two though.

I met him in 2007 or thereabouts at a book signing for his book. I was stunned how small he was. I've known people who were for sure 6ft 2" barefoot. No way was Clinton over 6 ft by comparison, and he was wearing shoes, of course. He was more like 5'11" or less. He had lost a lot of bulk too. I'm 5'9" and know many of my friend's heights between 5'10" and 6'2" , so I think I'm a pretty good judge.

@Vincent: more than likely a legit shoe claim. Maybe a best case Trump would get to 6’2.75 best case out of bed or 6’2.5 if he dropped to 6’1.75”. It seems to be a thing that runs in the Trump family so I would say the latter. And looking at his sons, Christian may be right about 6’1.75. I don’t rule that figure out. One son is 6’3.5 with a 6’5 claim and the other 5’11 and change with a 6’1 claim. His wife also lies about her height. Unfortunately his son’s wife outed them when she said her height was shoeless. Not to mention Trump had 6’2 on his license before. I agree with Rampage too that there’s a difference with Clinton and HW but I can’t see Trump being over 6’2” peak

6’2.25” is possible for HW, while 6’2” flat is pretty good for Trump. At his peak 6’3” isn’t a ridiculous claim. Trump would measure close to it out of bed, and would get it in a 1 inch sneaker. At his current of 183-184, it is quite idiotic to make such a claim. Probably would hurt his ego admitting he shrunk.

Clinton, all things considered, would end up around 6’1.5 or .75 like you both said. In HW’s case, this is one of the rare occasions where someone could be slightly under listed. That’s something I also say about Current Hulk Hogan. I can see him as high as 6’3.25 or as low as 6’2.75 perhaps but I lean more toward 6’3 to 6’3.25 range. On the other hand, peak Hogan is over listed imho. 6’5.5 would be a better listing and I see his afternoon as 6’5.25 peak. I do wonder if Clinton claimed a shoe height

Of course, when a celeb's height is overstated or rounded up in the first place, only to see them also experience legitimate and perhaps above average height loss, there will be a questionable gap between their claimed peak and their current (ala Clint Eastwood).

I'm firming on a more likely 6'1.5" peak for Clinton with a possible 6'1.75" max. on the outside.

If he was 6'1.5" peak with a height loss of about 1.5", that would put Bill at about 6' flat. Primarily due to heart disease, remedied by a quadruple bypass and later stents, Clinton's health has hit some deep troughs over the years, in which he has appeared literally emaciated at different times. Apparently, his heart disease was due very much in part to poor eating over many years. At least as president, it is claimed he'd exercise but then he'd hit the fast food afterward. I viewed a range of photos and this one appears, on average, reasonably indicative of how Clinton appeared alongside he likes of Obama and Biden.

Really 6foot for his recent height!!!?!?! He has to be more 6'1.5' now. Sure he's 74 and older, maybe slouching more, but just a flat 6 foot seems low. Peak height is spot on as he looked a big 6ft2 in his middle age, esp. since HW Bush was a solid 6ft2, even in '92. Both on the debate stage with Ross Perot showed they were the same height and towered Perot easily. Perot was 5ft5 back then.

I don't buy Hillary being listed as 5'6 either. She's more average 5ft4 and the listing of 5'9 for Chelsea is off. She's more 5'7.

As for tall presidents I actually think 6ft 2in is the most ideal height for a MALE to be president(Rep. or Dem.). It's not "lumbering Lincoln "6'4 tall but still tall enough. I think every president should be 5'11-6'2". It makes them look more powerful, more imposing and gives them character.

Tough question. I have to admit, there's quite a few I haven't seen, including the spaghetti westerns.

I would say UNFORGIVEN, A PERFECT WORLD and GRAN TORINO, in that order. Clint's own acting, casting and directing can be quite the killer combination. HACKMAN and COSTNER also happen to be among my favorite actors.

And yes, Clinton about 6'1.5" peak, best case 6'1.75" but, just IMO, more likely the former.

Height in the saddle? Good question. No idea. Staying in the saddle for a satisfactory period of time is the most important thing though. :)

Perhaps saddle height can be a new feature added to the site. As always, estimates have to be duly qualified of course, denoting peak, current, morning, afternoon etc. Just something else we can all chew over and disagree on.

To start the ball rolling, I will say Mr Eastwood's saddle height has decreased dramatically from peak. His peak was likely overstated anyway and rumor has it that Clint's horses had extra thick, custom hooves for added advantage. Current measurement for Clint no longer possible. Even with an assisted mount, poor old Clint simply slides across the saddle, keeling over and hitting the dirt on the other side, cursing, Gran Torino style, all the way down.

Re BILL CLINTON. Yeah, the numbers ring nicely, 6'2.25" morning down to 6'1.75" by afternoon with a "cheeky" round up to 6'2". Worst case perhaps, 6'2" down to 6'1.5" with an even more "cheeky" round up to 6'2".

After all these years, Lewinksygate seems pretty tame as compared to what's "going down" in the White House right now. :)

These pics are not the most defining pics in showing the difference in their height, but based on all of the evidence I have seen I think trump was a solid 1/4 inch taller. These pics give a general idea of what they were like when compared in height, there are also pictures where Clinton can look taller by a smidge, but those are more rare and a lot harder to find. Overall I would say that Trump could have been the full 6’2” and Clinton 6’1.75”, but that is on the higher end of what I would put them as.

Trump might have been a little taller than Clinton originally, so his poor posture has a lot to answer for.

I, too, have read the demeaning things Trump has said about short people, and in particular, short women. I've heard him refer to the women in his life, including his daughter, as taller than they actually are, calling them six-footers. If he accepted himself as having shrunk to six foot zilch himself, that would invalidate everything he's said about his women's heights.

There are photos of Clinton with Ali in which, IMO, there's little to choose between them if anything.

Going back to at least 1993, when Clinton was 47 and Ali 52, they could look even, especially if you allowed for Ali's clearly bowed neck. Shoulder height could often appear in Ali's favor. By then, fair to say some height loss for Ali in view of health issues and bowed neck. Not so likely for Clinton but possible I guess. Next to Bush Snr, Clinton always appeared a bit shorter. I'm thinking maybe about 6'1.5" peak rounded to 6'2" for Clinton.

I’m sure he would like to hear that, but trump also would never step on a stadiometer in public, due to getting exposed as a height fraud. Why does a man with such power have to add nearly 3 inches? It amazes me how insecure trump is about his height, and other things as well. He constantly projects his height insecurity into others calling people little , mini, miniature, and other demeaning things. Half of what he says would get him Banned on celebheights. Obama was honest about his height, just saying.

I arrived at Bill Clinton's page and expected to see around three-quarters of an inch more. Now I'm sounding like I've been coming here for years. Heeeeeeeey.... I stood next to a life size cardboard cutout of Bill in LA c. 1993 and my girlfriend snapped a foto of me next to it. I was in my early 30's and a strong 5'11" and change round that time and the cutout still owned me by a good 3 inches. So ye, bill gets a strong 6'2" vote off me in his youth, probably still a strong 6' now in his mid 70s.

Happy 74th Birthday to Bill Clinton. A flat 6’2” peak suits this man well. When Jacques Chirac became the French President, I would say Clinton was just a shade taller than Chirac (who I believe was about 6’1.5” by then). For Chirac’s peak, I would estimate 6’2.5”.

Yeah,6'2 for Chirac is possible by that time but no more.In some footage of 2014 he really struggled to look even 6' next to 169-70cm Hollande,his health started to decline after 2005 when he had some heart related problems and so did his posture which was terrible in his last years,however in his 60's it was still impeccable though I wouldn't rule out 0.5"loss in the mid 90's

Google has him at 6ft2 and he does look pretty similar to Clinton. There’s more photos on the web of him with Clinton, Obama, Bush and Blair where he varies. My verdict is 6ft2 peak and now at 71 closer to 6ft

Dunno about 6ft1½...it would be the absolute lowest I’d buy peak. More liklely closer to 6ft2 but he was a guy that possibly have dipped just under 6ft2 after a long day rather than held it at his low or was slightly over it. If 6ft2½ is the height he’s claiming out of bed then you could argue for 6ft1¾. Peak he was right between Obama and Trump/Bush Sr.

6'1.5" peak is possible, but he was more than just 6'1". Today he's clearly shorter. His posture isn't the best in his old age, but 6'0" seems a reasonable guess.

I'd downgrade him to 5'10.5-5'11". My dad met him yesterday and took a picture with him; his boss, who has like an inch on me at best was the same height or taller than Clinton.
I'm around 1.74-1.75 m myself. His boss is probably like 1.78 m. A weak 6'0" would be possible first thing in the morning. Maybe 5'11.5" is possible, but very unlikely.

They look to be of somewhat similar heights, with Freeman having the clear edge...by perhaps a half inch. I can easily see Bill at a weak 6'2" here, but its also arguable he was always more of a weak 6'2" pre-height loss, though I'd think a flat 6'2" peak is pretty fair, considering he was at least the same height as Trump back in the 90s. I certainly don't think Bush Sr. had a full inch on Bill either, maybe a half inch, but Bush could give off a stronger 6'2" impression even well into his 70s a lot of the time. On a side note, I could've sworn he'd done some noticeable shrinking by '09 though...lifts I can't be too quick to conclude to as of yet...

If you compare photos of both of them in white house I think - both at their peak heights,you can clearly see Clinton is at least an inch shorter. Watched the 1996 debate between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole recently. I've read that Dole was once around 6'2 - here's an article mentioning it Click Here - and it's hard to argue against it. For Dole being in his 70s when he had certainly lost height, he stacks up with the then 6'2 Clinton very well. Click Here

I'd say Dole followed a similar pattern as Clinton - ~6'1.5 in his prime, ended up around 6' flat when all was said and done. He's in a wheelchair now so it's hard to say.

I met Bill Clinton in April of 2016. We had similar shoe heights and he was about 2 inches taller than myself (1.79m). U think he could have been 1/4 inch over 6 foot. Any thoughts Rob?

Rob, if he measured 6'2.5 right out of bed, then he should be 6'1.5 at his peak. It makes more sense, because 2 inches loss at 60-70 years old is a hell lot!

I'm over 6'1". Most people think I'm 6'2" plus. I stood next to Clinton about 10 years ago. He was a very solid 6'2". Possibly 6'2.5". I don't know now. He's definitely shrinking.

I think he's 5'11.25"(181cm)at most these days. Doesn't really look like a 6 footer to me as compared to Obama and Kobe Bryant etc.. His peak height can be very well 6'1.5"(186cm)

Editor Rob: Christian, it might be hard to choose between them peak.

Both I think have obviously lost height, at least an inch, in Clinton's case it looks more.

With both of them roughly the same age, Clinton looks far weaker, while Trump seems to have a lot of energy.


Actually I think they were both two legits 6'1.5" guys...

Don't know about Bill. But at 5' 4 & 1/2" I stood by Hillary at a gathering in `03. We both had on a small heel, and she was at least 1 1/2 inches shorter than I am. I think she's listed at 5' 7". Absolutely no way! I would say 5' 3" without shoes.

Hello community. I've been following this website since my freshman year in college. I'm 25 years old now. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Clinton during my sophomore year of college. I was 22 years old back then and I measured around 5'6. I was currently measured at 5'8.5 due to a surgery. Anyways... long story short, I met him in person, even shook his hand. I SWEAR he was not even 3 inches taller than me. I'm calculating he was around 5'9 at the most when I met him. This actually happened at Saint Cloud State University. There is no way he was more than 5'10 BAREFOOT during his prime years. I'm being honest here. Cheers amigos

I think his height loss is exaggerated solely because his peak height is exaggerated. Since he was 6'2.5 out of bed, that would mean that he was 6'1.75 or even as low as 6'1.5 throughout most of the day.
I mean, his puffy hair might have given a false impression, but he really didn't look that much taller than 6' Tony Blair.
He's a solid 6footer nowadays (I've seen pictures of him with Chris Tucker and Chris is just a tiny bit taller).
So, he lost around 1.5 inches at 70 which isn't that bad.

He's not 6'2.5!!" I have a picture with him, pre-Obama, and he's probably a touch over 6'1" in .5 inch dress shoes. I was wearing my favorite shoes which add .75 to my height of 6'4.25." Clinton was taking pictures with tons of people and he even said, "come over here and smile, big fella" to me. Some of his Secret Service men made me look like short.

Seemed a solid 6'2" in his prime. I reckon the 6.2.5" presidential listing was in the morning. Looks to have lost some height and consistently an inch shorter than 6'1" Obama nowadays. I'd say 6' tall, 6'0.25" at most. Maybe dips to 5'11.5" at night.

The 6ft 2.5 may well have been in shoes. I'd say 6 1.5 peak - if he really was ever more than that, his height loss has been truly dramatic. I saw a picture of him from last year next to Bush 43, where he looked no more than half an inch taller or so. (And Bush himself was no more than 5'11 when elected president, maybe slightly less these days. )

He has lost significant height, which is no surprise given the kind of heart surgery he went through before. But, yes, he's struggling mightily with 6'0" feet these days. Like I said, he was a legit 6'2" guy back during his presidency, which is why it surprises folks to see how much height he's lost these days.

I think 6ft2-2½ in his 20'-30's is possible. But was late bloomer I think. He was a bit shorter than JFK and that famous picture of them shaking hands
