I didn't know about the tip toeing. That explains the pictures with Mary Louise parker. I doubt he's 5'8 now. 5'7.5 at the very most. 5'6.5-5'7 is probably closer to the truth.

So I found this picture of Ian McKellan, Billy, and Patrick Stewart, Click Here. It seems like Billy is about 172-173cm, and this picture shows that he's pretty close to Patrick Stewart, who is 174-175cm these days IMO. So assuming similar footwear, I think it's safe to assume that Billy is a weak 173cm, and Patrick is a strong 174cm.

Rob people are right, i don't know in reality but in Blood Ties he looks very small, he is more like 5'7.25. He is about the same as his former partner Mary Louise Parker, not much taller than Claire Danes either. 171 (5'7.25). But he does beat up Clive Owen.

they don't look like lifts to me on the second picture. i still believe he is 5'8. i could be wrong. i used think stallone was 5'9 or 5'10 then i saw a pictures proving he is actually 5'7 so this could be the same for crudup but i still have not seen real evidence that he is under 5'8 or if he is a lift wearer.

Most of the films I have seen him in, he is markedly shorter than the majority of the cast. In 'Too Big to Fail', he was pretty much dwarfed by everyone except for Paul Giamantti.

No, I've never met him. Time will tell if I'm right. We'll sit back and just watch. In public he is a 5'8 guy...but that is only when he's wearing lifts. He's slipped up on occasion and he's not even close to 5'8...more like 5'6.5.

If you watch Too Big to Fail, Billy's character (who portrays Tim Guitner) looks about 5'8" relative to other characters. There is a scene where he is walking adjacent to William Hurt (who I believe is around 6'2") and he looks about 6 inches shorter.

leonari-john was wider and taller than i remembered.he was walking a pitt bull i think,with a movie exec or rather possibly a theatre exec.i didnt realise he was doing a play nearby,hours earlier.so he must live there in that area too.celebs live in the city when they do theatre and sometimes when they film.they rent out a place for a couple months.cheaper than a hotel.he's still very nice.he had timberland type boots.did walk with a swagger.lifts are possible.but would he? 5-9 for crudup is comedy.

They look like normal modern shoes since there really isn't heels, but especially the insoles are thicker than normal. I noticed the same insole thing with the models of Timberland shoes which have the Smart Comfort insoles.

It's a shame that he feels pressured into boosting his height. 5'7" is not really 'short' ... yet there is a growing number of people who see anything under 6 feet as short. I think part of the reason is that high profile actors (including Mr. Crudup) project a much taller image on-screen (and on paper), so that people never see a true representation of height in movies. I'm sure his true fans (including female admirers) would still love this guy no matter what his height.

I think he thought I wouldnt notice,and I didnt.until my friends told me and I got the photo back.sneaky.I mean why would I make that up? Tom Cruise would be a good fib.not this loser.he caught attitude with me shortly after.he is overall a nice guy,despite this incident.and people were wispering about how short he was.

pffft 5'9"? Not a chance. Stood next to him after a Pillowman performance (which was terrific) - he was shorter than me. 5'7" is right. Ivanek is 5'5".

consider that tipping ones toes adds 3in if the shoe size is anywhere from 8-10.

His quote gives it all away. First, Glenn swears he was stepping on his toes - why would Glenn lie? Also, the guy makes a special point in his quote to say he wears shoes that only make him 1/2 inch taller than his normal height? This doesn't make sense. I mean 5'9" (he says that's how tall he is) to 5'9" and 1/2? The inference from his quote is that the shoes give him a little extra height and I'm sure he's talking about more than a half inch! What he's probably saying is he's 5'9" in shoes, and with these particular shoes, he's 5'9" and 1/2. Which means he's probably really 5'7" or 5'8".

I will stick to 5'7, because he is highly variable. In Sleepers(watch it), he truly looks like a huge muscular 6footer; but in Jesus' son this guy is about 1 inch over Jack Black both wearing nurses shoes

sighting: saw what i believe was billy crudup walking down st. marks place toward 2nd avenue the other day in the rain. it was about 6:30 pm. he was shorter and less attractive than expected. he looked about 5’8”

Yes, Rob pay attention to this dude, he is tricky. You have got to watch Jesus' Son its a great movie, it also reveals his true height. He is only a bit taller than samantha morton, who is about 5'5. Leary dwarfs him, and the best comparison is to Jack Black whom we all know is 5'6 at best.
