@ Nik - The rude meanings were hardly invented in the 1990's! They are also extremely disrespectful to the clergy, but there you go! Some like to invent filth in their wake; I find a bit of filth in moderation rather funny; I mean, who doesn't, but you have to draw the line somewhere, or it wears very thin and becomes boring!

Yes, it's amazing what you can find out just by feeding a name of interest into Google! After last Friday night's late night showing of the film 'The Sentinel', I found out all sorts of fascinating bits and bobs about the cast, the likes of which back in, say, the 1970's when I was studying at school, would have taken multiple trips back and forth to the library!

As the delightful Stephen Fry has said, the Internet is a wonderful thing! πŸ˜‰

@ Sandy Cowell - In Chris Walken's voice: NEEDS MORE COWELL!

:D

@ MJKoP - You're a real treat!
Richard Head indeed.. what were they thinking? And as for the others? Wonderful stuff and so funny!

No, it was the name COWell that gave the kids scope for a giggle, but it never upset me! My brother endured it first, being 2 years older, so I knew what to expect, and it never bothered me! Ever!

Have a great week, MJKoP!

@Sandy Cowell - Actually plenty of people mock Simon - but not for his name! It goes beyond me why anyone would tease you for your name...even if you didn't go by Sandra, Cassandra, Cassie, or such - it's about as benign a name as you can get.

IRL, I knew(believe it or not) a Sir Patrick Cyrus(yes, his parents actually gave him the first name of 'Sir'), a dude with the first name of 'Wyking'(apparently he was named that over a friggin' bet!), an Eric Shun, a Richard Head, and a Dylan Kuntz(pronounced 'ooo', not 'uhh', but close enough on paper!)....so be thankful for being named Sandy Cowell! :)

πŸ‘† Correction Time!

That should be 'more THAN a few tasteless Bishop-related jokes..' of course, but then, you knew that all along, didn't you...? 😁

@ Nik - Ah, I see! Bishipbriggs is all one word! Not that I'd heard of it in any form whatsoever! Sarah Grace is indeed a very pretty name, and one I'd probably have stuck with myself for reasons of simplicity!

Do you remember when that 'Coronation Street' husband of Gail's made an attempt on Emily Bishop's life back in the 90's? There were more a few tasteless Bishop-related jokes flitting about then, and that's when I heard of the double meaning! That's all, but it was taken to extremes by some people and, as you can imagine, lingers on a bit to this day!

Cheers Nik!

@ MJKoP - I LOVE the term 'unfortunate name(s)'!

If I went into details though, I have would have to mention the names, and people called that might take offence, and rightly so! I grew up being made fun of with my name, but I got used to it and it never once made me cry. No, not once, but then children develop a certain resilience, don't they?
Now mine is an accepted name because of one Simon Cowell, and no one takes the pπŸ‘”ss out of him, do they? πŸ˜‰

Now that you've spelt the name McLachlan, it does ring a vague bell, but I prefer the spelling McLaughlin by far!

Cheers to you, MJKoP! 😊

James the real one - Oh, I love Rowan Atkinson, but I think you
will find that his eyes are brown! πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Check out the beginning of each 'Blackadder II' episode, where you get close-ups!

Cheers, James!

@ Sandy Cowell - Hi there and good morning!

Yes, Bishopbriggs is a commuter town turned suburb of Glasgow, I believe it is in North Glasgow and about 4 miles from the city centre! Hey, I didn't know this either until I "Googled" her and found the results mentioning about this young lady and her Glasgow namesake!
I like both her names, Sarah Grace McLaughlin is a nice name too, Sarah Grace is such a sweet name and Bishop is such a noble an honourable name to have! People shouldn't mess with someone who has Glasgow connections! Even if it is just by name! People from Glasgow are good people but I bet they can stick up for themselves, I don't know where she is from but her name might make people think if they think they can have a joke at her expense!
Unfortunately I did not afford this nice young lady any change when I cast my vote, she may be due a small amount but I am not sure whether it would work out at as much as 1/4 of an inch, it may but I am not sure!

Cheers!

@ Sandy Cowell:

I wouldn't have known what her real name was, aside from Rob having it in the description!

The OG Sarah(whose last name is spelled 'McLachlan', but pronounced identically) is a Canadian pop and rock artist has been around since the year I was born('87) and plays no fewer than six different instruments.

I'm completely unfamiliar with her music(aside from only having known of her existence), and pulled everything I just told you right off of her wiki. :D

McLachlan also has an entry here....and also listed as 5'7"(though Rob should capitalize the first 'L' in her last name, as it currently reads 'Mclachlan').

And as for the chosen moniker 'Bishop Briggs'....well, to be fair, I've known people IRL with far more unfortunate names - let alone those horrifically cringe-worthy YouTube compilations and online albums you may come across of newspaper article highlights, ID tags, diplomas, billboards, yearbooks, DLs, birth certificates, etc....I mean, WOW. :O

Looks 1.70. I like the combination of blue eyes and black hair. It is a little unusual to see English people with black hair. Another famous example is Rowan Atkinson, when he was young.

@ MJKoP - Well I kinda gathered that her parents didn't decide upon such a name for their dear little girl! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

But I had no idea that her birth name was Sarah McLaughlin, nor that the music industry has one already! I stick fiercely to the music I know and love. I'm stubborn like that!

Always a pleasure to talk to you, MJKoP!

@ Nik - Hi there! No, I had an no idea whatsoever that 'Bishop Briggs' was a place in Glasgow!

As soon as she gives that rather mundane explanation, it might just stop potential jokers from having a laugh at the expense of her name!

Would I? Perish the very thought of it! πŸ˜‡

She must be wonderfully confident to go by the name 'Bishop'! At 5ft7, with her striking colouring and hit songs to her credit, why shouldn't she be?

Well, true enough...but I think it also has something to do with the fact that her birth name is 'Sarah McLaughlin' - and the music industry already has one of those! :P
Nik said on 7/Mar/18
@ Sandy Cowell - Hi!

And did you know that she shares her name with a part of Glasgow?

I had not heard of her, but I like her name, and I can confidently give her 5'7" and a little bit of loose change!

Cheers!

Not that I'd heard of her....
until now, that is! πŸ˜‰

She gets the full 5ft7.
