Editor Rob Trump's shoes that day might have been a tiny bit thicker, although I know from looking at dress shoes some can have 1-2mm insole and others 1/4 inch...it's an impossibility to tell really, whenever I see a celeb I'm always going with the insole being thin 1-2mm rather than very thick.

He's not obese. He's fat and many things have contributed to his 2" height loss. Age (he IS 70), horrible posture (he's always had that) and being overweight.

When I used to see him around boxers at fights in Atlantic City in the 80's & 90's, he seemed a solid 6'2 guy, now when I see him surrounded by people on tv he looks much shorter than his peak, about a hair over 6'0 if he's lucky.

Editor Rob Barry, I had a look at his shoes and they are certainly not elevators, but telling if someone has a half inch lift is very hard to do...a 1-inch lift will make the lace section bulge a bit more, but half inch really is impossible to tell.

A strong 6ft (6'0.25", no way trump is a flat 6ft) is 83rd percentile or 1 SD above average for the young generation. It's tall. Maybe not tall for a politician but in normal people world Trump is still considered tall.

Editor Rob the laser measurement device might not be as accurate. I'd always trust your own measurement with a tape measure, since you have the time to be able to test it on several walls.

Look at him with Evander Holyfield in 1992 whose height we know of (strong 6'1) when Trump would gave been 45/46 and Holyfield 29/30, so both men at their peak heights and Trump looks an inch taller. So I guess 188-9 is possible if Holyfield was 186 but no more. Generally though I feel a young Trump was probably just a genuine 6ft 2 man.

The problem with that is Ivanka is 5'9.5-5'10 at best not 5'11. When barefoot next to her husband who could be 6'3ish, she is about 5.5-6 inches smaller. I'd say Trump at 6'1 flat is best guess.

I too met Ivanka, she is at least 6'3" in heels, so she has to be 5'11" with no shoes. As to Donald, I know he wears lifts these days and he reaches 6'3" in these. Without lifts he is 6'1" as he shrunk over the recent years (he lost 2 inches).

Mitt Romney clearly had him by up to two inches today. Trump was never more than 6'1". Older men who never spent a life playing sports, standing for protracted periods or lifting heavy weights don't shrink that much. Less than an inch by age 70 actually, and Trump has always been in good health which is even more beneficial.

Upon closer inspection, Trump either has unusually long tibias or, more likely, wears elevator shoes. Check out this photo of him and Obama and notice that his knees are several inches higher than Obama's.

Rob, remember he only sleeps for 3-4 hours a night so he´s always near his low so he seems shorter. I think he's 185,5 cm now and 188,5 peak, and that athlete has a good angle advantage.

I don't think the clips of him walking around with others do him justice from a height perspective and that he might have some hidden height stashed away in that hunch. I definitely stand by 189cm peak and today maybe about 185cm

You can't compare heights when one person is standing in front of the other. The person in front will always appear taller. Duh. Melania, also a measured person is 5'11". The photo above shows them side by side, Melania in what appear to be 3"-4" heels and Trump is noticeably taller. 6'3" seems reasonable.
