So, Rob, do you think he downplayed it (for some unknown reasons)?
Editor Rob
I haven't looked much at him in recent years, but I might have a look again and see if the 170 is what he seemed.
Andrea said on 8/Jul/20
He actually had his height down as only 1.70 on his passport: Click Here
If he was as low as that, it is even harder to believe that Clint was anywhere near 6'3-6'4 if you see them in photos like this: Click Here

God forfend that I would offend you with impertinent questions, Rob, buy why do you list the heights of movie directors? Actors, musicians, athletes and politicians, sure, but movie directors? Height is irrelevant to their public personas and the nature of their work.
Editor Rob
They are famous and their height gets searched for to a degree...not as much as actors of course, but the bigger names do still have an audience who are curious about their heights.

Eli Wallach has said he was expecting Leone to be a stereotypical dark haired not overly tall Italian. He was surprised upon meeting him that he was tall and blond. I think the 5'8'' estimates are wrong.

Yeah, Arch, the photo is not great but it's hard to believe he'd be 8 inches taller there, let alone even more! But, to be fair, your photo is even worse! I mean, Clint is much closer to the camera, he's even tilting his head up a bit, so he's got some advantage there for sure! As Rob says, there are very few pictures of Sergio and Clint together, so it's hard to say...

Well almost a full head....

Try one of him standing straight Click Here A full head on Leone, though I think with boot advantage so probably about an inch 8-8.5 diff barefoot.

I wouldn't place too much emphasis on that photo Andrea, Clint's posture and the angle isn't great is it?
Andrea said on 24/Aug/15
Rob, how can he be as low as 5'7.5 with Clint, that you say was 6'3.5 at worst?
Look at Jared with a guy who is 171-172...

Come on, that's not even close to how Clint looked with Sergio!
Editor Rob
there's not a lot of well posed photos of them together, but it is hard to see under 5ft 8, that's probably fairer.

Finally! Great film director and good listing I'd say!
Arch Stanton said on 21/Aug/15
One of the greatest directors ever for sure!!
Andrea said on 21/Aug/15
5'7.5, really? He looks considerably taller than that if Clint really was 6'4!
Come on: Click Here
Not a chance there are 8.5 inches between them! He can look 5'9-5'10 with Clint (in the few pics i've seen)!

Sergio with Clint, Clint pretty consistently looked a head taller in photos I've seen. Eli Wallach nearby in second photo.

I could see him as a flat 5'7" or 5'7"-5'7.5" range, I doubt taller than Wallach on even footing.
