Maybe he was just tired that night after a concert at 1 in the morning and didn't feel like posing then? Although he wouldn't pose the first time I met him but then again it was a similar situation.

risingforce-you know i think your the most important contributer to the site besides annoyed at this point.especially when pics are concerned.but i dont think those magazine cover photos are great.i actually see vai taller.the poses and angles throw it off.malmsteen by the way loves to pose.1990-91 he was a bit difficult.now he is a ham.you see him with 20 fans in his way.

I thought Zakk was 6-2 when I met him, looks it in my picture as well. 6-0 at worst but in person he didn't seem like he could possibly be less than 6-1. He had about a .75 footwear advantage on me and seemed like a strong 6-2, maybe a bit over. That's what my 5-10.75 friend thought too.

Well he can't be shrinking and growing on and off. He seems kind of young(only 45) to have lost height and you said you saw him look this short prior to the 6-5 in boots sighting back in 2000. So shrinking wouldn't explain how he looked taller after your initial shorter sighting. Posture or lifts are the two possibilities. Even lifts would mean he'd have to be atleast 6-2 though.

well,on stage his footwear cant be too insane.but for ego and kicks,i know it sounds ridiculous,he could put lifts in his boots when he meets with fans,or rather,switch his boots.he wasnt expecting me.he was suprised to see me.very friendly,but surprised.so if he knew a fan or fans were around,maybe he would transform.i was told tall biker guys wear lifts in their boots too.one thing is certain,he didnt look anywhere near 6-3 this past weekend.will smith is taller.

I agree. I still am leaning towards 6'3" myself. He was standing very straight last I saw him(and walking fast back to his bus!). I had a very good look at him because he stopped for a second when I asked him for a picture. He looked right at me for a second and had to look down quite a bit and sid to hand my album covers to the bus driver to bring to him in the bus so he could sign them. I got a great look and was able to judge his height well and after seeing him for the second time I was convinced of 6-3 or 6-2.75 at worst. Your sightings have made me reconsider but based on my 2 in person sightings I'd say 6-3 barefoot and 6-5 in boots.

yes,mattrock.i want to print it first.i just sent rob 40 new pics.but since this is so interesting,ill try to send it to rob in the next week or 2,as opposed to 2,3 months from now,which will probably be my next big batch.i might have to send rob a small dozen batch next week thatll include the will smith i forgot to send.maybe you guys will think ynwie looks tall in the pic.i dont.we need to have all 3 pics up at the same time.itll be interesting.i couldve sworn he was 6ft tops with big boots in 1990.thats the first pic.and it kinda looks it.

So 6-1 minimum and 6-3 max in your opinion Glenn? I think that we can rule out 6-0 and 6-4. He looks too tall at times for 6-0 but too short at times for 6-4.

i agree.i saw him at 6-5 in 2000 a couple of times.with boots of course.but what was so shocking is that to the untrained eye,with his silly heels on,i couldve estimated his height at 5-10!!!!! i know this is not true.he had 3 inch heels on.but he was 6-1 with the heels,which was perplexing.barely 6-1.im starting to wonder if the man is 6ft to 6-1.whats even more insane is that you can see he looks 6ft or so in my photo!!!! he isnt standing straight of course.but in those heels,come on.i look like a child in that 2000 pic and i had thick boots on.now i look alot taller next to him.doesnt add up.

So compare Yngwie to 5-10 Ripper, 6-2 Patrick Johannson or his 5-10ish keyboard player and 5-9 bassist.

now for the shock of all shocks since i saw leonardo dicaprio look 6-2 for a year,then suddenly 5-11,got yngwie last night and he was barely 6-1 in his high heels!!!! and looks it in my photo proof!!! in the late 90s i had this bizzare theory he was close to my height or 5-10 due to examining alcatrazz pics.i remember my friend commenting on how tall he looked in 1990.and he did look tall,but 6-1 with the help of boots,like last night is what i remembered.and in my 1991 pic,he does look this,or shorter.the pic that was up.but then on his bus in 2000 i was so shocked by how tall he was i asked him his height,and he said "6-3" and looked 6-5 in his boots.plus i had thick boots on too.so either he lost height,or he has lifts inside his boots.i only tell it like it is,so mattrock,i apoligize to a point,but do know what i saw in 2000.i was not wrong.he was 6-5 with the boots.and all my friends peg him at 6-3.this is possibly a 6ft,6-1 man with insane height issues to look 6-3 or more.he actually looked like he couldve been as low as 6ft!!!! whats even more bizzare is he still looks 6-3 to risingforce!!! 6-1 with the big heel boots is last night.totally bizzare and mind blowing!!!! but this happens enough with celebs that had me interested in height 20 years ago!!! and yngwie can look 6-3 in pics.i knew someone years ago that was 5-6 and had boots with lifts in them.he still looked 5-8ish though.

Wow my pictures show Ripper pushing 5'11" in one and strangely 6'0" or more in the other. Must be the pavement or my knees must be bent. He looked 5'10" in person as I said, probably the pavement because in person there's no way he looked like a 6 footer. Yngwie looked 6'3" again, 6'2.75" at worst. His heels didn't seem big either.

A normal 6'3" man would be 6'4" in normal 1" shoes. A 6'2" man would be 6'4" in normal 2" boots. He'd have to be wearing 3" boots to appear as a legit 6'3" man if he was 6'1".
The lowest Yngwie could possibly be is 6'2.75".

thats what malmsteen appears to be doing this tour.you wouldve bumped into me too,had i not already been to long island to get items signed.not that i need him or care.i get paid for that.i have enough malmsteen for myself.glad i wasnt out that late on my only day off.in long island it was midnight.

Just saw Yngwie tonight(Oct. 26th) He's not 6'4" but he's 6'3". He didn't pose for pictures, I met him while he was walking to his tour bus at a little after 1. He did sign my Heaven Tonight single, Trilogy album sleeve and Odyssey album sleeve though. However he insisted that everyone give their items to the bus driver and then have him give them to Yngwie to sign. He did sign everything and seemed fairly nice and I can understand why he wouldn't pose because it was late. I got a picture and autograph from every other band member though. Great concert, Ripper looked 5'10"...maybe a bit more...I'll have to check my picture to give a good estimate. Could have been 5'11" too, no way he's under 5'10".

Out of all of the Zakk Wylde fans I've asked, the shortest sighting was a little under 6 foot and the tallest sighting was 6'3". A lot of 6'0" and 6'1" sightings but plenty of 6'2" sightings as well.

By the way I've mentioned the fact that after meeting Zakk Wylde I thought he was a strong 6'2" well I have a picture with him hunched over that I found and me tip toeing that I found. With that he's still 3" taller and I'm almost 5'8". So I think my in person estimate was accurate. As far as footwear well he was wearing his normal 2" boots while I had thick Nike sneakers so he had roughly a 0.5" or 0.75" footwear advantage.

I have Malmsteen at 6-3 or 6-4 because I've met him. I was in 1.25" type sneakers and I'm 5'7.75". He was in 2" type boots and he just dwarfed me. My head probably came up a little below his mouth. I've met Wylde and Vai too. All 3 wear boots. My head came probably up to around the bottom of Wylde and Vai's nose.

I saw a picture of Yngwie with Jens, and Yngwie had about 2inches over Jens.

Good evening! I'm workin' with Yng and I can say that barefeet he's 6-3 now. Maybe back in '80 & '90 ss he was 6-2. Well he's grown up. He wears heeled boots and looks 6-4.5 in. Anders Johansson was in '80ss 6-5.5 ft, now he's the same. My height is 5-8. On the live shows I'm wearin' heeled boots and growin up on one or two inches as well. Good luck people!

I kind of agree with JLT Fan, Yngwie has never looked as tall as 6-3 to me either, more 6-0 - 6-1, if you ask me. And he certainly looks shorter than Paul Gilbert, which I believe is, or just a tad under, 6-3.

I saw a pic of Yng next to Jens, both wearing normal shoes. Yng was about 4 or 5cm taller than Jens whos 180cm, so I guess Yng is around 184 or 185cm barefeet. That's like 6'1. Someone said 183cm (6ft) earlier which could be right, since people shrink as they age.

Are you sure that Anders Johansson 193 cm???? I saw on video when he came out from the lift doorway - he seemed to reach out to the top of the doorway (200 cm). I calculate it - I think that Anders probably 197 - 198 cm. He weared boots without any heels.
