American actor best remembered for his role in the Superman films.
I was very tall and very awkward. I was six feet two inches by the time I was 13 and I wasn't well-coordinated. I had Osgood Schlatter disease, which makes the tendons grow faster than the bones.

I'm 6-foot-4 and I weighed 185 pounds. I reported to London for the picture 8 weeks early and found they had constructed a Superman costume complete with muscles. I absolutely refused to play the role that way. Instead I got an instructor, Dave Prowse who played Darth Vader in 'Star Wars,' and set out a physical regimen for myself. I spent 2 hours a day, 7 days a week working out with heavy weights in a gym.
I looked like Jimmy Stewart standing sideways. So I ate four meals a day and pumped up my muscles. By the time the picture started I weighed 221 pounds - all muscle. I did every single stunt in the picture.

Chris Reeve was closer to 6'4" than 6'3", and the evidences are in all of his films...beyond Superman. In Superman he had flat soles, like half an inch or 1 cm, but with 187/88 cm Hackman he looked 4/5 cm more with those. With 189 cm Morgan Freeman he looked more than an inch taller with same shoes...in James Ivory's movies it was the same. If not the full 6'4", he was surely a good 6'3" 3/4 inch.

i beleive this listing is the best for him. HE could at worst look 6´3 and pulled of 6´4 alot. Somewhere in the middle is good listing. I think its this or maybe 6´3 3/4. One of them. Average guess of 191,5 seems a little to low. He could have been that but i think right around 192.

Slightly under 6'4 may be spot on. He didn't tower over 6 foot plus actors like Gene Hackman in Superman or Morgan Freeman in Street Smart. He had a certain lankiness which could give the impression that he was taller. Interestingly, in Superman he says of his height, "about 6'4."

Site is becoming too stingy with the heights. 6'4 isn't like a super rare height or anything. And now that you've put him down to 6'3 1/2, the commentators want him lower. If he was less than 6'4 than what does that do to Hackman and other actors?

Christopher had 3 children: William, Matthew and Alexandra. His wife Dana tragically died from lung cancer in 2006, possibly as the result of passive smoking as the lady did not smoke.
William, known as Will, is supporting his father's excellent work of research into paralysis. After losing both his parents in one-and-a-half years, he hit his all time low. After coming to terms with his massive loss at such a young age, he said, "There's nowhere to go but up..."

Excellent actor, wrongly considered only for comic movies. Many people consider Chris Reeve's height basing on him in Superman suit, but the red boots were almost without sole....in other films and real life photos, he looked a solid 6'4", sometimes maybe 194 cm...similar to Alex Skarsgård. I always thought 6'4", but Chris himself saying he was just shy means he could be a quarter or half inch shy. Either way, top 1% of height for men and super tall without being freakishly tall.
I always thought 6'4", but Chris himself saying he was just shy means he could be a quarter or half inch shy. Either way, top 1% of height for men and super tall without being freakishly tall.

Cavills arms are published in Man of Steel as 16 inches and they looked about 16 inches which is not that big. Arms have to be a lot bigger than that to look short. Checkout the movie Street Smart, some good performances in there, Reeve has well over an inch on Morgan Freeman, who can't be far off 6'3" when it was made in 1987. Think Reeve is a genuine 6'4", or was at his peak.

Is 6'3.75" or the full 6'4" still possible, Rob? He did look 6'4" next to 6'2" Gene Hackman in the Superman films though he could look as low as 6'3.5" other times.
Editor Rob the more I looked at him the more I began to think he was just under 6ft 4. Of course, I may well be wrong and he was 6ft 4, but I'm not as convinced on that mark.

I am 6'4 or 1.93m and Christopher Reeve was exactly the same height as I am. We stood eye to eye, yet in the photo I had I looked taller. Due to the fact that I weigh only 65 kg. Photos can be deceiving. Christopher Reeve was and always will be the original Superman.

Think this is maybe more fair, he really does look more 6'3 range when you compare him to other celebs at the time. He did look his 6'4 claim most of the time though due to his great proportions. Now we just need Eastwood brought down as well to that 6'3.5"- 6"3.75" range.

Editor Rob it's a tough photo to say, because some of the height will be lost. How much is even harder to tell, 1 or 3 inches, could be anywhere between that amount.

Editor Rob from all I've seen I think somewhere between 6ft 3 and 4 is a good enough shout. With arnie I don't believe he is quite as tall a stance as arnie.

Gosset Jr is 6'3.5" as was posted below in a series of pics with Christopher Reeves height. Christopher is slouching in that photo with Gosset Jr as well, you can tell if he stood up straight he'd have about at least 0.5" on Gosset Jr. He was a legit 6'4", especially considering he was measured at that height so many times!

Though you can roughly gauge his height by comparing him to Mark Pillow (6ft 3") who played Neuclear Man in Superman IV. In several scenes Reeve clearly had at least an inch on him. I believe he was definately around the 6ft 4 mark.

Back to Reeve, I put him at about 6'4", and around 210 when Superman I & II were filmed. I would say he was bigger, and really around 225 for Superman III, not a good movie, but Reeve's all time biggest/best shape IMHO.
The reason Reeve was not as "BIG" looking as Arnold at the same weight is 2 reasons:
1. Arnold had an even lower bodyfat%, meaning more of his weight was muscle.
2. The height difference. ON the Ponderal scaling index (far more accurate than BMI for comparing body shapes of different heights) 225 at 6'1" would translate to 253 at a height of 6'4". So for his height, Reeve was comparatively 28 mounds lighter.
If you want to get really technical, the comic book superman is 6'3" and 225 so if Reeve was to be as thick as him, at just one inch taller, he would need to be 235 with very low bodyfat. That would still look almost 20 pounds ligher than Arnold did in 1975, if you want a reference.

people who look fit and over 200 ilbs are muclsey people but if didnt have the mucsles you would have a belly sticking out, im 5 ft 8 and i once had a big belly at 12 and half stones thats about 180 lbs or lower. for that reason i think they do lie about famous people weights.
