Rory, I'd be inclined to rate Mark as more 6ft1¾ and even the full 6ft2 looks believable for him at times. I reckon 6ft1½ has to be a low range for him while for Colin it'd be the highest I'd probably go. Mark had the edge on Colin even in Fever Pitch back in the late 90's and also on Gerard Butler in Rock 'N' Rolla.

He was definitely shorter than Mark Strong around the Kingsman time when he was only 53, looked no more than 6ft1 in that film. Kind of hard for me to see him ever being the same height as Strong.

Slightly over 6’1 in his prime. He is very well proportioned and can look taller. As the quintessential Mr Darcy in his heyday looked quite big, like 6’3. Also impressed as Valmont. It seems he was always edged out a bit by 6’2 costars, so never quite 6’2.

Yes, his parts are certainly enormously variable - some nice and some nasty and I like that for an actor!
Colin does comedy, yet he was extremely scary in the psychological thriller 'Before I Go To Sleep', playing the husband of tall, slender Nicole Kidman.
Let's face it everyone, he was considerably taller than Nicole in that! He's tall and that's all there is to it! Tonight, I might be watching a 'St Trinian's' film and he's in that as well as loads and loads of other stars, so the opportunities - assuming I watch it! - with be numerous!
I sent for a copy, as the film was coming to an end when I turned on the TV yesterday, and I thought in true St Trinian's style, "Screw that! I'm getting a copy!"

Looking at stuff from the late 80's & early 90's, Firth could actually pass for a 6ft2 guy at times. Similar to Brosnan in the sense that he could stack up well beside 6ft3-4 guys. No reason to doubt 187cm.

I don't understand the whole tall guys wearing lifts thing...what qualifies as lifts? Because I have a pair of work boots that I wear which give me almost 2 inches in height, though I don't wear them to add height. Of course, I'm a girl and haven't the insecurities that men apparently have about my height. I guess it doesn't make sense to me why Colin Firth, even if he IS "only 6 feet tall", would purposely wear lifts. Its not like he is a big action guy or anything...please, enlighten me! :)
