@Christian: the only times I’d get called out or questioned is when a guy who measures the early morning 6’3.5 or 6’3.75 and is closer to 6’3 claims 6’4” or near 6’4”. Then they insist I’m 6’5” or near it. Even then I stick to my guns and go with 6’4.25” and I’ll call them out that they’re not as tall as they claim
Canson said on 23/Mar/22
@Rampage: sometimes I do say a little over or 6’4 1/4” when pressed on the subject. But overall I don’t see the value in a little over 6’4 vs 6’4”.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Mar/22
Canson, I'd go with claiming "a little over 6ft4" like what Goldblum and Neeson say
Canson said on 15/Mar/22
@CH 6’1.5: I only round down because I’m at 6’4.25” instead of .5”. But even at half I may still round down if I were. I wish we used metric here in the states
Canson said on 15/Mar/22
@Rampage: I spend more time at 6’4.25 though. But I’m not sure if I lost height these days. But we’d be talking 2 mm or so

I wake to 6’5
6’4 5/8 after an hour
6’4.5 after 2
6’4 3/8 after 5
6’4.25 after 7 usually

For me I don’t mind claiming 6’4” flat as I feel closer to it to it

@Canson,

If someone asks my height in person though, I don’t trim off the half inch. Whenever I get measured at the doctors office, they always list my height as 6’1 1/2”, as opposed to 6’1” or 6’2”. Judging by that scale, I don’t think it sounds obsessive to include half
Inches.

@Rampage
One advantage of being x'x 1/4" is the flexibility to round up or down 1/4" to claim a whole inch or half, depending on the mood, enviroment or convenience. And no one will call you out for either of your claims, because 1/4" is such a small value visually.

Put a 6ft1-2 guy with a big fro in platforms, I'm sure he can reach 6ft8!

I'd still place better odds on him measuring nearer 6ft2 than 6ft1 barefoot though
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 10/Mar/22
Canson, you can claim 6ft4½ with absolute impunity since you spend a fair amount of the day at that. I definitely wouldn't claim a flat 6ft4
Canson said on 4/Mar/22
@Celebheights 6’1.5: I do the same albeit I’m only 1/4” over 6’4 at my afternoon height/evening height barring an occasional extreme low. I list myself as 6’4” on my license and only claim 6’4, a little over 6’4”, 6’4.25”, or between 6’4-6’4 1/2” occasionally. I used to claim 6’4 1/2” years back though when I wasn’t height aware
Celebheights 6'1.5" said on 3/Mar/22
He’s my height since I’m also 6’1 1/2” at my low, and I also round down my claim to 6’1” on my ID.

A slightly fairer shot with Gaye, who’s not standing well and looks pretty high, along with Cornelius and Stevie Wonder.

I think Don was 6-1.25
MrTBlack said on 26/Feb/22
@Canson, I was joking when I said that but yes, Vandross was a solid 6’2”. Cornelius did appear taller than him and Barry White at times and White claimed to be 6’3.5”. White did look over 6’2”
In most pics and Vandross did look at solid 6’2”. I think the reality is they wore thin shoes while Cornelius wore thick ones hence why he looked like a 6’3”+ guy at times.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 25/Feb/22
Vandross really could have been 6ft2¼. He claimed both 6ft2 and 6ft3, could look either at times. Cornelius was a self-admitted wearer of lifts. Still think 6ft1 flat is undercutting him.

Don was 6ft1½ minimum if not a weak 6ft2, James Earl Jones territory (who he happens to resemble slightly!)

Rob, what are your thoughts?
Editor Rob
In the 70's I think a flat 6ft 1 seems surprising, although some of the footwear really was boosting people over 2 inches.
Canson said on 24/Feb/22
@Mr T Black: that’s interesting. I’ve seen Luther V listed as high as 6’2.5 at times. I wouldn’t have thought he was any less than 6’2 flat
viper said on 24/Feb/22
I'd say he looks 6-3 in that pic with Gaye. Certainly not 6-5 though
viper said on 23/Feb/22
He's taller than Marvin yet closer to the camera
MrTBlack said on 22/Feb/22
@Paul

Yeah, he probably lost an inch or so by his death.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 22/Feb/22
@MrTBlack: Here he is towering over Marvin Gaye! He's easily 6ft5+ here. Nah, Luther Vandross was a solid 6ft2 at least, if not a bit over. I still think 6ft1 flat is too low for Don

His autopsy had him at 6ft 0 and 210 pounds.
MrTBlack said on 21/Feb/22
@Rampage

What I don’t get though is he looks 2” taller than Vandross who was 6’2”, or maybe Luther was 6’1” all this time lol. I do think, he continued to wear platform shoes even when they went out of style is probably the reason why he towered over so many 6’0”+ guests on Soul Train.

I'd have gone with 6ft2 over 6ft1, honestly....
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Feb/22
Could seem 6ft2 at times
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 20/Feb/22
Rob, what made you go with the extra half over 6ft1 flat?

Definitely think it's more plausible than 6ft4 which he's listed at in places!
Editor Rob
even bearing his shoes/hair, I still thought the guy had a chance of clearing 6ft 1 flat in his prime.
MrTBlack said on 20/Feb/22
No wonder he looked so tall!
Mickie said on 20/Feb/22
Maybe 6'1.25" from this self claimed 6'1" guy?
Editor Rob
I'd have guessed him 6ft 2-3 at times, but really his shoes were of decent thickness.
