In the 1980's he was listed as 5'11". He was only a couple inches shorter at most than Dan Aykroyd in Trading Places. I think he was 5'10.5" peak, and like 5'9.5" today.

Hey Rob, if I’m comparing 2 people together to see which person is taller, would a back to back measurement be more accurate? And if so, would I determine the taller person based on how tall their shoulders are or heads?

Editor RobAlways look at top of heads. If it's really close and you have a ruler or something flat, you can have people back to back with the object on their heads. It will be easy to tell who is taller, even if very close.

I think Eddie Murphy is right between the 5'9"-5'9.5" range Brigitte Nielsen gave so 176 cm is perfect. He could sometimes look just 5'9", but also 5'9.5". Jamie Foxx would be very similar to Murphy. Same thing with the 174-175 cm range she gave for Stallone.
It's funny because in general, I find women are often way off judging height, but these tall actresses seem to be very good at it. Same thing with the 5'9" figure Sigourney Weaver gave for Mel Gibson and the 5'10" figure Daniel Craig's co-star gave.

Hey rob you should do a a shoe height on the air max 2090s at night I measure around 5’8 1/2 and walk around 5’9-5’9 1/4 I always wear air maxes have good posture and long fluffy hair so I could easily pass for 5’10. We measured each other in cms in my chemistry class I got measured with my air max 2090s on and my friend didn’t push my hair down and I got 183. They add more then the air max 97s I would have to say they add 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches

@Rising Eddie only looked 0.5 inches taller than Michael there at most. In wuzupwitu, they were around the same height although Michael's wig hid hid his scalp from the front but from the sides, it's noticeable.

Just watched the movie 48hrs and in my opinion he does seem more 5'7 or 5'8. The scene where hes in the bar with the cowboys he just appears too small to be average height, even the average looking guys look bigger than him.

Editor Rob you could argue at times Eddie did look a 5ft 8 -9 guy at times with Nick Nolte who looked an honest six footer as he claimed.

Editor Rob she did claim 5ft 10 on twitter numerous times. She could be in 5ft 9.5-10 zone, although with Murphy I believe when posing half the time she was dropping a bit of height at the hip.

He is only 5 feet 9? Wow he looks tallish to me. I guess being skinny and having a small head can have a big impact on your height. He doesn't look too far from that guy in daddy day care (Jeff Garlin), who I look up on this site to be 6 foot 1. Either that or a 3.75 inch difference really isn't that much.

If ever anybody looked of exactly average height,stature,physique etc...Eddie Murphy is one of them.5'10 or just below with weight/physique to match.Very transferable and useable as an actor,you could cast him as a badass muscleman gangster or a skinny office geek.Of course,his skill as an actor and performer plays a big part too.

I do not recall the publication but it was published right after he got back in shape after he was fat in Another 48 Hours... he absolutely identified himself as 5' 9" and whatever weight it was (I think 160 or 165, I don't remember). So If he self-identified ay 5'9" I would say that is probably the maximum possible height. p.s. to NCL below... who the hell wears a 30R as an adult (especially with a 33" waist)?! I am 5'9" 160-165lbs. with a 30-31" waist and I wear a 42R!

Editor Rob I think you could probably try to argue both, but I think just over 5ft 9 is ok. Of course nothing can be certain, everything is trying to guess what we think is a reasonable estimate.
