Rob, do you think 5'4.5 might be better then? I always thought he looked 5'4" range. Now I know he was in 50s and 60s n a lot of his films but not convinced he had dropped a full inch by his 50s. I think you'd be more accurate with an Edward G type listing.
[Editor Rob: 5ft 4.5 is believable.]

He was older years though in a lot of his films, might have scraped 5'5 when younger I suppose.
[Editor Rob: yeah he probably was 5ft 4 in films but then in 50's and 60's.]

Rob, maybe 5'4" range would be better then? I thought he looked similar onscreen to Edward G. Robinson.

My favourite role of his is The Trouble with Harry I think. Quite quirky.

He looked like a midget in Spanish film Calabuch. Superb film by the way, should be mentioned above. I think 1`65 is too much for him. I doubt he was over 1`60

Yeah, great screen presence...also great characteristic photo above. Mostly remembered here in the states as Santa Claus, I liked him best in his slightly saltier roles.

Cheers Rob. Yes I remember thinking in one scene with Maureen o Hara in 34 street he had to have been max 5'5. Something similar to Edward G. Robinson I reckon. Great actor, those are mostly great films mentioned above.
