I’d choose 5’3. 7’8 the only advantage would be a possible financial incentive based off your height. Even then, still probably not worth it imo.
Mike190 said on 13/Jun/25
I'm not sure what your age is nor where you live. One thing I can tell you for certain is that amongst my surroundings your opinion is of the minority. Most young guys would rather be 10ft3 tall than 5ft3 and I'm being dead serious.
Duhon said on 12/Jun/25
I'd never want to be 7'8" (Over 7' in general) if it wasn't a 100% guarantee I'd be making NBA money. Otherwise it's more like living with a curse, the human body is not really meant to be those heights.
viper said on 11/Jun/25
At 5-3 you can also wear lifts to look more "average short"

It's really a no brainer when you factor that in
viper said on 11/Jun/25
You would sleep on normal short heights in 5-5-5-6 over 7-8?

😂😂

Are you trolling
viper said on 11/Jun/25
Michael J Fox is 5-4 and looks "normal"

Sorry, you're a little weird to pick 7-8 imo
viper said on 11/Jun/25
5-3 is very short but come on.. you're not looked at as a "freak" and everyone gawking. Just the other day I saw a 5-3 white guy at McDonald's with his 4 kids. So his height didn't affect him to find a partner he's happy with.

7-8 has the advantage that nobody is going to mess with you....but other than that...no thanks. I'll take the 5-3
bmb said on 11/Jun/25
Interesting, I think he claimed "seven-seven" here and that was from 1 month ago (in reality probably closer to 2 months ago considering the production to make and edit these videos). Could he be admitting that he's just under 7'8"? Click Here

The man needs to get a proper measurement done!

Just to add on to what I said previously, I have actually seen Olivier in real life. It was early this year in the YUL airport. Of course, everyone was gawking at him as was I. But despite that, he seemed very happy and secure in himself. He took pictures with everyone who asked and honestly he seemed ammused and ate up all of the attention. Like Neil Fingleton, I believe Olivier is honestly happy to be as tall as he is.

@viper

I simply don't believe you. No offense but 5ft 3 is a terrible height for a man in the first world. It is 7.5 inches below the average man and 2 inches below the average woman in my country. I have a friend whos 162cm and his height has caused him and insurrmountable amount of grief in his life.

If you live in a third world country where the average male is under 5ft 5, sure then its an ok height. But not where the avg dude about 180cm.

I would much rather be freaky tall and live to 50 then live a long miserable life as a very short man where the average young woman towers me and wants nothing to do with me the instant she finds out my height.

Olivier on the other hand is famous based on his height alone, and I'm sure there are swaths of women that would love to be with him. Sure, most women don't want a man over 2 meters, but there is a large niche for it.

But like I said if it was 5ft 7 vs 7 ft 8 then I'd pick 5ft 7 since at that point your height wouldn't be a major flaw.

5ft 5 & 5ft 6 I'd have to sleep on.

5ft 4 and under no question I'd rather be the giant.

It's hard to say at what point 7'7-7'8 is better than
5'4 for a man is short but is normal human height without any health issues linked to it.

7'8 is going to be massive issues it's really non debatable.

We have people at 6'6 who are major joint issues and back pain due to height.
Cancer risk has been proven to be higher who knows when one goes over 7'3 how the numbers look
It was for every 4 inches a 10-20% increase so someone over 7'0 be off the charts

Not to mention blood clots and heart pumping more throughout the body.

I think 5'0 vs 7'8 as a man both heights are terrible but you make a good point it may be worth the shorter lifespan and massive inconvenience
Remember though at 7'0+ clothes and all that is extremely expensive
One who is 7'5+ has to modify their home as can't comfortably live in it
Bed, door frames, counter tops, shower stall and even ceilings possibly
I think one can easily underestimate how bad things can be when you flirt with 8'0
He's very different than a 6'10-7'2 basketball player who there are a good bit of NBA players in that range
He's even a level up from Edey and Wemby
In the range of Yao Ming, Shawn Bradley and Neil fingleton , Paul Sturgess
Fingleton heart gave out in his mid 30s
Very difficult life
So it's nothing to envy but rather something to pity.

Wish him well

More to NBA than just being freakishly tall
It's skill and movement
Honestly he's too tall from NBA
Really anyone much over 7'-7'1 is an issue
Lot of injuries and can move like crap
Some move better like Wemby
But some just too large to move

If he pops another inch or so going to be interesting
Not sure how the human body going. To last like at such a height when people a foot or more shorter have issues

Guinness needs to measure this guy. Or he might get a combine invite.

Either way we don't know what time that
7-7.5 was. Guys like him can shrink an inch

"but he will certainly not have any trouble getting women, having people respect him, etc."

You have to be kidding. People see you as a "freak"

The only advantage of being his height is possibly making a lot of money in the NBA
viper said on 9/Jun/25
I'd much rather be 5-3 than this guys height. It's not even close.

Rob, is being this tall a blessing and a curse, and more of a curse than a blessing?
Editor Rob
There's advantages and disadvantages. Also, your own personality type might effect the weight of these.

@grizz

As a young man I would much rather be 7ft 8 than under 5ft 4. Yes, statistically his lifespan will be reduced but there are exceptions. Martin Van Buren Bates who was apparently 7ft9 lived to be 82 years old (in the 19th/early 20th century at that). If he doesn't make the NBA (which is seeming likely at the moment), he can still make a career out of his height.

In my view he is lucky honestly, especially in comparison to being very short. Sure 6ft 4 would be a much better height to be at but he will certainly not have any trouble getting women, having people respect him, etc. The inconvienences aren't as bad as people make them out to be unless you are traveling all the time.

If you asked me if I would rather be 7ft 8 or low-average (5ft 7 ish) then I would pick 5ft 7 since you are no longer short and your height wouldn't be a major detriment at that point.

I think he actually posted on IG that he was 7'7.5" without shoes.

He's basically Neil Fingleton's height twin. Which makes sense, because I'm not sure it's possible to be taller than that without some kind of growth pituitary or chromosomal disorder, so if ppl claim to be 7'8" or above without any disorder, I'm automatically a bit suspect.

If we put Olivier 7'5.5 range like he claims at that point, his mom appears 6ft range.

But she is not standing straight + wearing sandals, so i believe she is really 6'2.

If Olivier is 7'8 there, then the other guy looks editor Rob's height Click Here

A lot of his height is in his head and neck
Head must be 11-11.5 inches or something

I think he should be listed at 7'7.25 or something
7'8 barefoot is unlikely as with basketball shoes he may be barely 7'9
Warren said on 7/Jun/25
Taller than Manute Bol wow. When is he come in NBA??
TheObliviousOblivion999 said on 7/Jun/25
This man is the new andre the giant!
avi said on 7/Jun/25
@Rob

So his parents are fairly tall
Mom is 6'0-6'2 zone
Dad 6'7-68
Brother is 6'8-6'9

Seems like Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley a bit
when both parents are extremely tall for their gender there is a chance (not a big chance) that offspring especially make can hit essentially ALL height related DNA variants and be a giant

Look at this research done for Shawn Bradley:

Hit all genetic DNA variations so that unique combo is probably what Rioux got
As well as Yao (unless Yao have had HgH when younger to boost him even more to make a "super human" as have speculated)

Question:
If he can grow another inch or so which (I certainly did over 19-20)

This can't be a good thing

At 7'7-7'8 he's already at large risk for various medical maladies

If he has something going on with growth hormone extra than normal secretion and growth plates didn't fuse (or maybe limbs did but torso did not) he can flirt with 7'10 or so by 25 which that close to 8'0 is surely a death sentence

Just think people may think it's cool but in life there is a limit to things and being this huge has got to be detrimental.
Editor Rob
Yes, with Bradley and Olivier, they both seemed to get most of the tall combination of genes which helped them exceed well beyond what you'd expect.
Dave180 said on 7/Jun/25
Holy, this guy is huge! 7'8 no doubt
grizz said on 7/Jun/25
Poor fella. 6'8 is already uncomfortably tall in everyday life, let alone a whole foot above that!
Mike190 said on 7/Jun/25
Yeah you know what he did look like he wasn't standing tall in the video, and even leaning slightly to his right if anything. Standing loose would result in a large loss of height in a guy that big.

Still don't know if I'd give him the full 7ft 8 though. Hard estimate when there is no one close to his height to compare to. It would be nice to see him stand next to another giant, maybe Wemby.
aaronj00 said on 7/Jun/25
Hey Rob, I know it's a massive difference, but how tall is the guy on the right in the picture?
Editor Rob
Hard to pinpoint. At a glance I thought he was nearly 2 feet shorter!
Jawilder said on 6/Jun/25
I saw him up close walking around UF’s campus!

One of the craziest things I’ve ever seen. Absolute giant.
viper said on 6/Jun/25
He was listed at 7-7 very recently
Duhon said on 6/Jun/25
@Caleb 5'10.25" yes, that's what makes him even more unique, people are always shocked at his "normal proportions" became the majority of men who are remotely his height, have a growth hormone disorder.
bigfern193 said on 6/Jun/25
This is the right listing. Looks massive.
The guy said on 6/Jun/25
Awesome new listing Rob, in this image, Click Here
You can see the top of his head is roughly at the 92 inch mark (7’8) earlier in the video you can see he has shoes on. This leads me to believe he is closer to 7’7 to 7’7.5 barefoot. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
Editor Rob
Think he needs a proper measurement, though you don't really get stadiometers that high. I'm sure he'll show one in the future against a wall, maybe then we will discover an exact (or near enough) figure for him.
Assuming he's finished growing...always a chance of a little more height at 20-21.
Mike190 said on 6/Jun/25
Idk about this one Rob. Grossly over listed imo.

He's measured here at 92.5 inches (7ft 8.5) in basketball shoes, with the tape measure bent. He might not be over 7ft 7 barefoot.
Editor Rob
Yeah the video was linked to on here before. I think the question is whether he has stopped growing and how tall can he stand for a measurement, I don't think he looked to stand as tall as he can in the video.
Arch Stanton said on 6/Jun/25
Haha, Rob might be worth mentioning he was 6 ft 10 at the age of 12!

Yeah Caleb, highly unusual to see a guy this height who doesn't have that acromegaly look or look ill/struggling with health/mobility.
Arch Stanton said on 6/Jun/25
Rob, something is off with his family's heights here!! No way is his mother anywhere near 6 ft 2 if the father is 6 ft 8! The brother looks more than an inch taller than the father! Click Here

Whenever there is a true giant, none of them ever seem to have real giant parents, it's always two relatively normal tall range parents.
Editor Rob
Yeah his Mother being 6ft 2 doesn't add up there, unless she has lost height and was maybe 6ft 1 and now shorter?
bmb said on 5/Jun/25
"Six-eight without shoes?" Unless we're talking about a foot ago, when he was still long into his youth years.

Meant to be Seven :)
Caleb 5'10.25"/178.7cm said on 5/Jun/25
Wow... if he's a true 7'8" barefoot, he might be the tallest man to have ever lived who doesn't have a growth disorder (like gigantism, acromegaly, Marfan syndrome, etc.). He'd be even taller than Neil Fingleton, Manute Bol, Robert Bobroczky, Shawn Bradley, Yao Ming, Tacko Fall, and Victor Wembanyama.

On the left Olivier back to back with 7'1 listed Micah Handlogten, compared to Wemby with Maxime Raynaud.

Handlogten and Raynaud should be very close in height, both 7ft range. Olivier looks pretty much as listed there.
