Is it just me or does Neymar seem taller than Arda Turan when you look at him from far distance? As I get closer to the screen, I notice that Arda is actually taller. I guess it's just their built; Neymar due to beeing skinnier seems a bit taller, and Arda has a bigger head overall. I think Neymar is 174cm, Arda Turan 176cm, Dani Alves 172cm, Jordi Alba around 169cm (or a tad over that)
If we talk about Goalkeepers, Ter Stegen seems to be slouching a bit, maybe to fit in. In this photo he looks about 186cm or a tad above that. Claudio Bravo might actually be what he's listed at, 185cm. I don't see him below 184cm though.

Now at 64yo he is not over 180cm (but probably he holds 180cm); I think Mahrez is exactly 178cm.

Rob, considering we can use both Xabi and Gerrard as benchmarks (let's go with 182,8 -183cm around midday), do you agree with the fact that Gerrard's body tipe (long legs, larger shoulders and smaller head) makes him look taller than Xabi (shorter legs, narrow shoulders and bigger head) in general? If I didn't know they are 183cm, probably in a photo where they re standing alone I would have guessed around 180 for Xabi and around 183cm for Gerrard.
For example Torres is a player who can look taller than he actually is due to his very small head, very lean body and right proportions, don't you think? He can give the impression of a full 186cm guy when alone to me.

Editor Rob definitely a head size that is smaller than average can add to an illusion of height and the reverse can be true - a longer head makes an overall impression that can appear to be shorter.

Rob, I think you should give an individual page to at least a few dozen footballers (most of the starting players of Barca, Madrid, Bayern United, Chelsea etc). Right now I think the site is slightly biased to actors and singers, there must be at least 1000 pages of obscure actors that very few people are aware of. Surely pages for legends in the past and modern footballers like Rooney and Ronaldinho are warranted? I'm literally in disbelief that Coleen Rooney has a page but Wayne doesn't. Sorry for the little rant Rob.

I think Torres always looks more than just six foot, i would guess he holds 184cm for most of the day. At times he can even look 185cm. Probably a good 6ft 1in upon rising. He could look a bit taller than a guy like Steven Gerrard who can't be much less that six foot. Agreed on Martinez, he can look near 6ft 3, and yeah llorente can pull off a similar height to Ibra, he looks a big 6'4" guy to me.

@plus you re probably right about fernando torres' height story. Personally I ve never seen that 181cm mark but I remember in his young years he was always listed 183cm x 73kg (this is what I think he was at 18 years old and he could have grown about 2cm after).
I actually think he would be between 184 and 185cm if measured around midday, 4 hours after waking up.

Fernando Torres was 181 cm at 16 years old. I found old listings of 181, coming off in the season of debut with 17 years old but that season he had started with 16 years old. So the medicals were 181 cm. 183 cm starting the next season with 17 years old. My estimations 183.5 at 18 and 184 at 19. At 21 and adulthood 184.5 cm tall.

If 85% or so of the data was given in true metric from associations, the peaks/troughs shouldn't be as harsh as the chart shows.
Something is off with the over abundance of players sitting on full inch marks and far less of them on the half inch marks when you consider if 85% was metric.

@Tunman Malouda 181 cm is a joke, Malouda is 175 cm. But Robert Pires is 187 cm he is really tall, just look his Instagram, he is similar to Henry (1 cm less). Barthez is finally 180 cm, he has a profile of car driver on the net stating 180 cm.

Editor Rob the stadiometers the barcelona players were measured on looked good quality and I would believe were accurate, the Ibra one looked a bit older but still based on how tall Ibra looks, I'd say his measurement was accurate.
Time of day though and breath in posture for some guys can mean they measure taller than you expect. Pique may well be a guy who can stretch up more taller for a measurement than he generally looks around other players.

Editor Rob Bartez could have been a bit under six foot, Pires looked over six foot at times yeah. Henry very close to 6ft 2, Thuram could at times look a six footer, then under it. Marcel Dessaily used to look quite tall at times, but really wasn't that much bigger than zidane who could look anywhere in 6ft 0.5-1 range.

Stuff I'd seen recently pointed to him being maybe even slighty under 6'2", and it surprised me when I began to look closer since it was always talked about how tall he was in the American media. Obviously 6'3" is pretty much out of the question, but I've been wondering if he's even a full 6'2"? I think he could get a way with some exaggerations because he has the kind of built physique that could pull it off, but he honestly doesn't strike me as being on the borderline of really tall; he just looks regular tall, to me.
