Cool that you got to interview him, Rey Barry, if I'm reading that correctly. Of those venerable Hollywood auteurs Capra gets a lot of flack relatively, but his best films still largely hold up.

With reference to that TV interview with Capra, he was 73 years old.

Tonight I watched a 30 minute TV interview between Capra and me done about 1970 and lost until recently. At the time I was 5' 7" though I have lost a few inches in recent years. I suspect that had already happened to Capra, as several people commented that I seemed to be far taller.

May have been linked before somewhere but Capra here by Cary Grant and James Stewart, even while leaning both tower over him. Click Here

Yeah, that actor was good in General Yen despite the seriously cringe inducing racial aspect...Yen is at least a somewhat sympathetic character unlike D.W. Griffith's often sicking depictions of minorities.

Nils with 5'3 Fay Wray Click Here but can't see footwear or ground, box tricks were common.

I have the feeling that Capra was a tad starstruck around Sinatra and let it influence him. Capra interviews from the 50s and 60s have an almost cringe-inducing amount of "hip" slang like "swingin'", "baby" and "daddy", I guess an older guy trying to show he was with the times!

Rob, could you add The Bitter Tea of General Yen, Lost Horizon, Meet John Doe and Pocketful of Miracles to his credits Rob?

Franks Capra and Sinatra: Click Here
Look how Sinatra squeezes all his height out to tower above the shorter old men, Capra and Edward G. Robinson, who both stand casually: Click Here

Awesome edition! One of my favourite directors!

Yeah, an accurate listing for this director. One of the few filmmakers to inspire a adjective (Capraesque), I like his earlier weirder stuff like Bitter Tea of General Yen but there's no denying the power of Mr. Smith or George Bailey's despair.
