Red... you do realize that the video is in regards to Tyson being SHORT? He is obviously, and undoubtedly 5'11", and if being measured barefoot in front of a unit stick with a relaxed posture doesn't cut it for you then nothing will change your mind. This isn't a matter of opinion, the fact is in front of you.

So you can't see his feet? Why would they measure him in shoes, or standing on stilts maybe, when the intention of the clip is to portray him as small as I already said. The camera is panning upwards looking forward. As in... there is no angle if you can't understand. You can't get more definitive so show me Tyson measured 5'10".

WRONG. Hogan has never been billed at 6'6". In his early days he was billed at 6'9" (up until 1983) and then 6'8" up until 1993 and then at 6'7" up until present day. I have seen 6'6" listings of him scattered through people magazine and other articles over the years (late 80's/early 90's) when he was trying to make it as an actor. On Hogan knows best he claims he's 6'5". So, on all accounts you're wrong. Sorry.

In regards to boxing heights being inflated to the degree of pro wrestling, that's ridiculous. It isn't WWE. The most popular figures in the sport right now are small in stature. They aren't going to inflate 5'6.5" listed Pacquiao, or Cotto, Mayweather, Mosley, etc all of whom are under average height, around 147 pounds. The fact these small guys are popular in the first place distinguishes any necessity to make them seem like giant monsters, because obviously the fans don't care how tall they are.

The only 'height inflation' you will find is when height plays a significant role in their style; such as Paul Williams or Nicolai Valuev. Even then, it's rare and barefoot stare downs at pre-fight pressers offer the perfect benchmark to compare respective listed stats and see they are generally accurate. It isn't Don King, or Vince McMahon for that matter, who is billing these guys. They have their stats recorded by the athletic commission, or sometimes by the broadcast venue (eg. HBO). Discrepancy you might find will come from things like metric-imperial conversion, and shoes... and a very rare height inflation. Hell, 90% of the time, a boxers height isn't even announced when they are introduced, so unless finding their height is on your agenda you probably won't be aware of it. So why bother.

Goldberg isn't 6'2". Brock Lesnar is listed at 6'2" or 6'3" (NFL, and UFC), and probably lies somewhere in between. Say, 6'2.5", and Goldberg is around 0.5-1" taller than Brock. Goldberg is around 6'3" give or take. Hogan in WCW I would guess to have 1.5", or maybe 2" if he stretched himself right out.
Danimal said on 9/Jan/09
Okay, well, it's confirmed, 6'4" Buster Douglas refereeing this Hogan/Savage match during Hogan's prime. When Buster Douglas raised Hogan's hand when he won the match, it forced Hogan to stand straight and sure enough, Hogan had 2" on 6'4" Douglas. You can look at 6:11, 8:30, 8:52. It's just obvious that peak Hogan was taller than the Douglas by a strong 2"+ Click Here

I'm looking at Hogan's weight. In 1982 Andre was getting 520-525 in the magazines and 500 ring weight. Now even if that was a bit high I'm sure he was in the 475-490 range. That's crazy Heavy. Hogan still looks meaty next to him, he's no stick figure, you have got to weigh a ton to size up well with a 500 pounder. I can see Hogan being 320+
Anonymous said on 5/Jan/09
If Hogan would get a physical exam today I bet he would get 6'4 275. Because he would be able to stand up straight for just those few seconds. The rest of the time his legs are so slouched because of his health that he gives the impresstion of a sub 6'3 man.

Hogan was preaty darn tall, remember, at worst Andre was almost as tall as Wilt Chamberlain. So if nothing else, Andre with cowboy boots on is a 7 footer. Hogan is Essentially standing next to Wilt Chamberlain in that 1982 photo. Hogan is not dwarfed by Andre he is mearly alot shorter, there is a big differnce. One has to be about 6'6 to not get dwarfed by a 7 footer. I've seen pictures of 6'3 Mohamad Ali with Wilt Chamberlain and he is dwarfed. Same thing with 6'2 Arnold Swartzenegger. Hogan was 6'6 peak, when he was in his 20's(probably still 28 in 1982)He has lost 2+ inches by age 55, 6'3.75-6'3 7/8.

Hogan never said Andre was 700 pounds. He was asked about slamming Andre and he said Andre was 520 pounds at the time but it felt like he was 700 pounds when he was slamming him because Andrew was so heavy.

On Jimmy Kimmel he actually says Andre was close to 700 lbs when he slammed him. You can find the interview on youtube.

I would appear to be in the minority but I am unimpresed by the height of Hogan and Andre in that 1982 photo. Hogan has sneakers on but they have big 1 inch heels and Andre has cowboy boots on and is leaning in, the fact that he is leaning in takes away all of the advantage of his boots and Hogan is still about 7 inches shorter. And you will never see a picture of Andres hair more slicked down, most of the time he had the big afro which gave him inches, like in his stairdowns with Wepner. In 1975 Chuck Wepner who was 6'5 stood TALLER to andre than Hogan does there, and in a still shot in cowboy boots, which would take him to about 6'7, he is about 2.5-3 inches taller than Hogan is, Wepner he is only about 4 inches shorter than Andre! That would put a peak Hogan at 6'4. Andre might have been as much as 6'11 in the 70's but by 1982, more 6'10.5.

That 1979 photo with dusty rohdes is the quintesential peak Andre picture. That is a standard door behind him 6'8, 2 inch frame 6'10, Andre has small heeled boots on but they still have to give him a half an inch. A bald Andre would go to about 6'11.5, but you take away the half inch for shoes and he's back down to 6'11. his hair gives him 2 inches so I say 7'1.5 with the hair and the boots, 6'11 barefoot and haircut, so 6'11.5 standing straight, only a little hair is SPOT ON. Cowboy boots would give him another 1.5 inch- 7'3 tops with all kinds of hair and cowboy boots.

Hogan is delusional, he always exzagerates, Andre 700 pounds, he even says that he is STILL 6'5 285. Does anybody think he is 6'5 now? He was 6'5 300 peak 1978, 25 yr old. and about 6'3 270 now. If he thinks he's 6'5 now then you can see that he thought he was 6'7 330 back when.

I met the Big Bossman backstage at a Monday Night Raw in Buffalo, NY in 1999. I was only twelve at the time, so I was about 5'9 and my memory could be exaggerating due to my young age at the time, but I remember Bossman being about eight to ten inches taller than me. My oldest brother who was 20 at the time, said recently that Bossman was like 6'8. Now I know he was really only about 6'5-6'6, but when you look at photos and videos of Hogan standing next to Bossman, Hogan was easily at least an inch taller than him.

Oh, and I honestly just remembered this, but my tenth grade football coach/ gym teacher met Hogan in 2002 at Linda Hogan's bar in Tampa. Me being a wrestling fan, I was talking to him about it on the way to the field house one day and I specifically asked him how big he was was. He said that Hogan was about 6'6. Now, Hogan has EASILY lost about two inches on his height since his knee surgery, (just look at him here against Kevin Nash in '99. He's not that much shorter than him. Click Here). As I was saying, Hogan definitely has lost a couple inches on his height, so even if my gym teacher was wrong and Hogan was only 6'5, or even 6'4 for that matter, that'd put Hogan at at least 6'6 in his prime.

He is still 6'4 today in the once in blue moon that he actually stands up straight for 10 seconds. Spot on Daminal, I believe Hogan was 6"5.5 or close to 6"6 or at his peak up until around 1988. 6"5 in the early 90's (gradual height loss throughout the 90's down to 6"4.5 and massive height loss from 1998-1999 onwards to below 6"4.

Today he could be anywhere between 6"3 and 6"4.

You have your dates wrong Miko (I do appreciate the energy though).

PEAK height of around 6'6" (could have been between 6'5.5"-6'6.25) up until 1990.
Height loss in 1990 of 1.25" (according to the man himself...back surgery), reducing him to 6'4.25"-6'5", which I believe he remained all the way until 2000, even though he did have kneecap replacement in the late 1990's.
2001-Present - Looked to have dropped down to 6'3.25" (hip replacement, neck fusion, back surgery) and has been struggling to stay that height.
Vegas said on 9/Dec/08
the finch video totally rules out anything in the 6ft2 range now for hogan and rules out 6ft 3 flat too, if she is a legit 6ft barefoot then she would be no less than 6ft 1 in those sneakers and he has no less than 2.5 inches on her basically barefoot (those flip-flops he wears give about 1/4 of an inch max)

finch looked slightly taller next to 6ft 5.5 peyton manning at the ESPYs a few years ago than she does next to hogan on that video but she was in heels next to manning of course

NO ONE comments on the Richard Beltzer video I posted, where he has him by 5-6" and Hogan is in ballet shoes and 6'1" Beltzer is in dress shoes. I mean, COME ON.

BTW, Hogan was still close to 6'5" in that late 1990's WCW video Vegas posted. He has a longer neck and longer legs. The man has short hips/thighs nowadays and a compressed neck. He TOWERED 6'1" Richard Beltzer and Beltzer has the shoe advantage.

Hogan looking at least 5 inches taller than Flair here.

The question is how tall is Flair? I'd put him at perhaps 5"11, which would equal a 6"4 Hogan.

I cannot believe how acurate you can all claim to be from distant pictures and videos. None of you seem to be the least bit aware that camera angles greatly change the appearance of difference in height. If you look closely at the Elen show, the girl at first looks at least a half foot shorter than Hogan until they start shooting from the side at a distance. Hogan has made numerous public appearances over the years, and sorry but Rodman is 6'9", so if Hogan looks 2" shorter then that makes him 6'7". As for his statements, Hogan says a ton of off the cuff crap when in character but stop trying to tear down the legend. Hogan was being billed as 6'9" when he was younger, and as nearly 7' in the rocky film. Hulk was indeed 6'7-6'8" and now stands around 6'6" when he is not bending his knees or leaning forward. I have seen numerous shows and interviews where he towers over 6'3-6'4" tall actors so stop with the crap already.

and yet his jeans from the 1980s fitted perfectly on a episode of hogans know best, btw he ain't no former wrestler he is available to take bookings but nobody only wwe can afford him

finch has a 1 inch footwear advantage given she is wearing sneakers and he is in flip-flops like these Click Here hogan is basically barefoot there and still has her by over 3 inches easy

hard to believe 20 years ago hogan would have wore his biggest 2+ inch cowboys on that show, today he comes out barefoot

Hogan DWARFED the 6'1" Richard Beltzer in March 1985 and Hogan wore similar footwear back then (ballet slippers) compared to Beltzer's dress shoes. Compare how her towered Beltzer and doesn't come close to towering Finch who is of similar height to Beltzer. THAT IS proof of his height loss: Click Here

A young Hogan would have about a half a foot on Jennie Finch. You can see that Hogan's legs are shorter (hips are like a 13 year old boy's now) and his neck is shorter too). I say he is hovering around 6'3" today. Close to 3" height loss for the 55 year old former wrestler.

If you crunch all the numbers it's just what you might think for peak, throw out anything over 6'6 and throw out anything under 6'5. 6'5.5 give or take .25 inch. 6'5.5 is really tall for someone who has a body builder type physique and is 300 pounds that's still the size of NFL linemen who are not fat. So Hogan was kinda off the charts huge back in about 1978 or so when he was just starting out. It would also take him to about 6'7.75 in those yabaho cowboy boots that they wore, which is where the 6'8 came from. You would'nt know it now but Hogan lived in those boots outside the ring in the 80's and early-mid 90's. I think he is still 6'3.75 now, realistic 1.25-1.75 inch height loss. He never where's the boots anymore, I bet it's doctor's orders with his physical conditions, might as well have ice skates on. I bet he would have the look of a 6'5+ guy comming at you if he had them on. Nowadays it seems like all the wrestlers are HUGE, but back in Hogans day you could not swing a dead cat without hitting a 5'11-6'0 230 guy and that was with a beer gut, so Hogan looked like a giant. Hogan would be way bigger than billed 6'5 280 jesse Ventura and billed 6'2 260 Paul Orendorff and we see now that those guys went into the hall of fame at 6'2 245 and 5'11 245. Hogan, 6'6 275, the champ I think got to round up.

I used to give him 6-6, but his footwear gave him an edge. He was not taller than Tiny Lister, who is 6-5. The 6-6 listing for Lister was no doubt in his shoes. I cannot accept 6-4 for his peak however. I cannot fathom him only losing .5", and also the 3" height loss for ME is simply not believable as well. I am pretty confident now that he was about 6-5 and now is about 6-3.5, seeing as how he has about 5" on his 5-10.5 daughter.

If he was do you think that the wrestling biz of the 70's and 80's would have only billed him as 6'8 and 6'7! of course not, they would have given him at least 6'11 if not more, heck, he would have been about 6'9.5 in the big boots. Look at Tiny Lister, 6'6 in the NBA and soon as he got into wrestling 6'11. Studd got 6'11, do you really think he was 6'10. He almost staired 6'5 Fralic eye to eye. 7'5 Andre, not even as tall as 7'0.5 Wilt(7'1 peak). Hogan was about 6'5+ tops, and 6'7.5 in the big boots. And I'm not just bashing him, unlike alot of people I think he is about 6'3.75 today, a not outragous 1.25 inch loss by age 55. A bald man is always going to have a greater sense of height loss from his hair filled youth.

SInce Zeus has a legitimate 6'6 listing and since we have seen Hogan and Zeus in the ring together and they look the same height(despite Hogan having a smaller heel) I think we can conclude that Hogan was also a good 6'6 and perhaps slightly over. Please do remember that not every wrestler is significantly overbilled. Hogan's height was definetly exaggerated but not to the extent of other wrestlers. Now he still looks a good 6'4 to me.

I think that fact that Hogan is consistent in height with Mean Gene and Piper over the last 20 years says quite a bit. I have no doubt that all three men have shrunk over the years if for no other reason, then because of age. But I also find it odd that people are claiming that Hogan has had more than the usual amount of height loss due to surgeries. Because if that's true, then Mean Gene and Piper must have had more than the usual amount of height loss as well. That is way too coincidental in my view.

Tuga: you say your pic was pretty recent, well so was JT's, the latest one on his montage was from 2005. Unless Hogan just lost even more height in the last 3 years, I see no reason to take that pic over all the other JT posted. topdweeb said on 18/Nov/08
Well, once again, JT posted pics of early Hogan and Piper pics and more recent ones and the differences are the same. I'm having serious doubts that he has lost even 2 inches of height.

Tuga: you said you posted recent pics, well so was JT's montage of him and Gene, back in 2005, and the difference was about the same was it was in the 80's. At any given angle, change in posture, etc people can look taller or shorter at certain moments. But that Hogan looks consistent with Piper should say something.

I am starting to think that Hogan was 6' 4 max and probably just wore lifts or something when he was younger to give himself the 6' 6 height.
topdweeb said on 18/Nov/08
tuga: What about all the other evidence? I have said from the beginning that Hogan's height is a mystery because at one moment he looks huge, and then the next, he looks short. And that seems to be the case even with his older pictures.

I will say this though, when he wrestled the Undertaker back in the early 90's, the Undertaker only had like an inch on him. I know this for sure because I have a match between the two on my computer, where Hogan defeats him to regain the WWF title. And I don't think the Undertaker is any less than 6' 7 so Hogan had to be around 6' 6 at the time.

they never stand side by side or have a staredown in either of those matches so none of us know for sure, however this is much better evidence, keep in mind taker edged out sid Click Here Click Here

I agree, i myself am a stark raving hulkamanic and ive see hulks height loss through the years.
Its just hard to explain where the height loss came from and what caused it, ive checked hip replacement and that doesnt cause mach (unless its badly done)
And i can find no legit evidence of back surgery.
From the late 70's onward hulk seems to have lost height, on this page alone there is enough photo and video evidence for evryone to see.
Hulks hieght loss is huge! he 'could' have been 6'7 at one time (im not saying he was, just that its possible) and even though i hate to say it he 'could' be below 6'3 now.
I met brutus beefcake early this year and he was around 6'2, Hogan looks no more then an inch taller on celebrity wrestling.
He looks to have lost 3 inches for no reason other then age..

Danimal: I was/am the type of wrestling fan that would love to believe kayfabe. I think that's part of the fun of pro-wrestling. I remember it took me a long time to finally admit that Andre can't be 7' 4 even though deep down I knew it. So if I am bias, it is definitely going to be in favor for Hogan. I want to believe that at one point he was close to his billed 6' 8. And perhaps he was close to it. But with Hogan, it just seems like at times he looks huge, but at other times he doesn't. I will say this though, when he wrestled the Undertaker back in the early 90's, the Undertaker only had like an inch on him. He doesn't have to say it, because it is OBVIOUS to the naked eye Topweed. You've been on here long enough to have scene the evidence for yourself. Anyways, Hogan is always trying to make things seem BIGGER than they actually are, why go out of his way to let people that he is 3" smaller today than he used to be?????? Again. he doesn't have to say it. We SEE it with our very own eyes, unless you we are biased ;).

Exaggerating his height loss sounds to me like something Hogan would do. He probably wants to keep the image of him having been a 6'8, 330 lbs giant in the 80s. Since he is no more than 6'4 now, maybe even less, most people aren't probably that impressed by his height today, so his trying to convince people that he really was 6'8-6'7 in his prime.

Hogan was probably still trying to preserve the kayfabe of the Hogan/Andre match at Wrestlemania III, where they said it was the first time Andre was pinned and slammed. And they made it sound back then if it were the first time Hogan and Andre stood in the ring opposite of each other.

The worst thing Hogan ever said imo, was in MTV cribs, where he showed his yellow wrestling boots. He said he wrestled Andre in those boots. I can't remember his exact words, but it was something like: a few weeks later Andre passed away. I thought that was a bit disrespectful towards Andre. The last time Andre and Hogan wrestled each other, was I believe in 1988 or 1989 (3 or 4 years before Andre's death).

Same thing was said about Andre on Andre's biography on A&E when Hogan was speaking about their WMIII match and saying that little did I know that Andre died shortly after that match. Try close to 6 years.

POST 2000 he lost at least another 1.5", which was SOOOOOOO evident upon his return to the WWF in 2002. THATS a legit 23 inch arm right there.... and if Atoadaso says ronnie coleman didnt even have 23, how in the heck can hogan have 22 then?! imo hogan wouldnt even have had over 15. but lets be logical, if Lou had 22-23 then hogan maybe had 19-20 or so. a peak ferrigno would have dwarf hogan when you want at any time, Red: i can give him 270 lbs there tops, since he looked bigger in 1987. you clearly dont understand weight, hogan gives the illusional of being bigger in 1979 since his waist are thinner compared to his chest. Later he would gain more weight around his waist for example in 1987

my estimations of hogan:
1979 260-270 lbs
1987 270-275 lbb

Jason, or... this "greg" isnt taller than maybe 5'8 or so which i believe he isnt either. he looks more like 5'6 to me

Hogan's height definitely is weird. If that guy in the photo with him is really that tall, then Hogan definitely looks like he is around 6' 7. I just don't know what to think. If Hogan's peak height is really 6' 4ish, then that really makes me wonder even more about Andre the Giant since he didn't ever seem to be that much taller than Hogan. Big Show today has more height on Hogan than Andre did. But regardless of whether or not Hogan has had surgeries that took 3+ inches off of his height, I'm sure it's safe to say that he has shrunk just by the normal aging process. People do naturally shrink a little as they get older and with the type of profession Hogan is in, I wouldn't be surprised if it is more than the average person.

You have to take a couple things into consideration when comparing Hogan's arms to Arnold's. 22" arms that are CUT will look bigger than 22" arms of BULK, especially on a shorter man (not that Arnold was short, but compared to a peak Hogan he was probably about 4" shorter).

They are more defined today and have been since he was in the NWO. Hogan had a lot higher bodyfat count up until the early 90's.

Aww good pic provided by Ola of Hogan vs. Warrior back in 1998... and that's about the same height difference Hogan had on Warrior back in 1990. So again, I don't what to make of Hogan and his height.

Fact of the matter is, Hogan lost 1.25" of height reducing him from 6'6" to 6'4.75" in 1990. NOW, it is hard to tell, because he was STILL a tall man and I believe he stayed that height up until 2000. It was THEN that he began to lose some serious height, because you can compare 2000 Hogan to 2002 Hogan (his comeback to the WWE) and you will see a drastic change in his neck length, back posture, knee posture and overall height. I believe he lost even more height in 2004-2005 when he had hip replacement, which involves cutting away at part of the leg bone. The man is lucky if he is over 6'3" today and if he is, it is marginal.

WOW, so Hogan when billed at 302-303 was really 320 pounds and was really 360 pounds when billed at 320 pounds the late 70's/early 80's. This guy sounds legit. In Hogan's book he states that he went up to 340-350 pounds. I believe him. Minimum 330 pounds. Ferrigno did it in 1993 at 43 years old. I'm sure Hogan did it as well, seeing he also carried fat along with the muscle.

there is a backstage interview with hogan and vince in 1989 and hogan only has vince by 3 inches max then, those massive cowboy boots and internal lifts he wore back in the day made him look much taller

Then check him out in ballet shoes having 5" on a talk show with that New Yorker who later went on to Law and Order. That thin talk show host was a legit 6'1". He was wearing dress shoes and Hogan in ballet slippers had him by 5". It's on youtube. His name now escapes me. He's a New Yorker.

tuga where are vince's shoes? this is exacly what i pointed out earlier! the ONLY WAY for hogan to appear big is if vince dont have any shoes on, or if hogan has cowboy boots... often both were combine

You have to be joking...you

Hogan still had 3 inches on vince when they fought at wrestlemania, evidence has been posted here more than once. Hogan was at least 6'4 at the time.

A younger hogan TOWERED vince even without big boots:

Notice when vince and hogan are side by side near the end of the video, pause at around 4.49 for example, its a HUGE difference, 5 inches easly...so...where are "those massive cowboy boots and internal lifts"???

Get real, hogan was HUGE.

I agree these Wrestlers wear Cowboy boots with a Big Heel plus an internal lift
I seen Tatanka look 5ft 9 in sneakers and look alittle over 6ft in cowboy boots
Macho Man, Hogan all did the same thing..Also i met Todd Pettengil he use to work for the WWF and he looked 5ft 7 to 5ft 8 and when he used to interview wrestlers he looked about 5ft 11 in boots

OOFatman, ok lets say slightly over 4... between 4-5! but this heels is huge as even you pointed out. 3 inches between them barefooted still, imo

Ola: here's how I see it. Whether you admit it or not, Hogan had Vince by at least 5" there if not 5.5" if he would have stood straight. His boots looked to have had a 2.5" heel. You figure Vince had normal 1" to 1.5" heeled dress shoes on, thus, Hogan had about a 1" to 1.5" height advantage imo, bringing his barefoot height over Vince about 4". Remember, just because you have on 2.5" heels on, doesn't mean they give you an actual 2.5" over your barefoot height. I personally don't think Vince was over 6-1, so you have about a 6-5 Hogan there in 1990.

There isn't even four inches there. I'd say throughout the 80's Hogan was 6ft6 legit. Shrunk about 2 inches max making him a solid 6ft4 nowadays. Greg looks 6ft2ish in that picture.
