Maybe in his childhood Kiefer didn't get a nutrition as good as his father did, Hahaha. Anyway, 5'8'' -that is his correct height-, although a little short, isn't that bad, at least by Hollywood standards

dmeyer, I think Kiefer is rightly described as 174. In 24 he looked exactly the same height as Carlos Bernard, who looks that height next to Rob.

watch the film "A Few Good Men" Kiefer has a lot of sence standing next to tom cruise. He appears to only be an inch maybe two taller than tom. Tom may be wearing lifts in the film but Kiefer is dressed in military gear and is wearing boots.

He was the same height as michael douglas in the sentiel. So my guees is they are both touch over 5ft 9. Douglas could have been a full 5ft 10 when he was younger though.

This guy ever looks small or tall. On 24 he can look a strong 5ft 10 or a weak 5ft 8. He is one of my favourites but i think his true height is just over 5ft 8 which he once said he was 174cms which is smack in between 5feet 8 and 9.

the measurements from police reports are either taken from your drivers license, asked or just estamations. the heights in Mugshots aren't accurate since you are wearing your shoes.

I seriously doubt the police report. To begin with they don't weigh you when they book you. And Sutherland seems too stocky to just weigh 150lbs.

No freaking way he's 5'8"! I ran into him in the northridge mall one day with my husband and my son right after he was born. Keifer stopped to say congratulations on the newborn, and he was definately shorter than I am (5'9") He was right about even with my husband (5'6.5")

In the first season of 24, they said Jack Bauer was 5'11". I know Kiefer isn't THAT tall, but I still suspect 5'9.5"-5'10" for him. He isn't towered over most of the time, he seems average height to me.

How can you recognize who's genetics you have, my mom is 5ft8 my dad is 5ft9, I have two older brothers, one's 23 and 5ft10, and the other 20 and 6ft im 17 and 5ft9,25-9,5. the 20 year old one is medium build and my oldest brother is quite slim, im medium build aswell maybe slightly inbetween, i wonder if i will go after my oldest,middel or inbetween my brothers,or if im allready at my final height:P, they both do have to shave a lot, i only have a moustache after about a week or so and some hairs on my chin and several soft at my sideburns but nothing really heavy.

I said it before, and I 'ii sat it again: Keifer is 5-8 on a good day. Part ofd the reason that he seems taller is due to the fact that he has ine of the world's largest heads! If you look at his head while he is sitting down, he looks like he is a six-footer. But when he stands up, he looks like a munchkin with a bigassed Head!

Why would you insinuate that because it appears that he is shorter than what most people think, he would also be less of a man? I don't think anyone here has ever stated that. Many wonderful, bright, smart men and women have been short. I truly do not believe that Randy Newman literally meant that short people got no reason to live. This blog is not about love or flights of fancy... it's about how tall someone is.

kiefer stated his exact height as 5ft 8 and a half i heard somewhere when he was with julia roberts and he doesnt look over or under that height but with his 3inch cowboy style boots on he is then over that height and that is how he can look quite tall sometimes on 24.

Looked at this picture from Forest Whitaker's Walk of Fame Induction today. Standing next to Whitaker (6'2 or 6'2 1/2" here and in pretty much every other reference) and Angela Bassett (a self-reported 5'4" who's wearing at least 3" or 4" heels). I'd say right at 5'10" or a hair under.

It's obvious....Kiefer didn't grow to his potential. His brother Roffis did. I guarantee everyone here that Kiefer has a long wingspan. Probably 5-6 inches taller than his frame. Listen if you have long arms and are shorter by more than 3 inches then you never grew to your potential height, cause you've must have done something wrong in your young teen years.

I think something should be added to the script that his compact size is what enables him to accomplish feats that a taller man could not...he can stay low to the ground, make quick turns do to his low center of gravity, etc...Keifer is probably 5'8" at the most, although he looks more like 5'6" - 5'7"...

I've been in horses most of my life and know way too many people with permanent injuries and rebuilt this or that. I think in most aspects, he's made a hard life for himself lifestyle-wise and it shows. He looks a lot older than his 40 years.

Back to the genetic issue. Parker is right. My brother and I are of similar heights, but not the same height even though, because we have the same parents, we have the same genetic potential. I am 169/170cm, he is 173/174cm. Our genetic potential is 174cm based on that calculator.

Rob, I basically agree with all your 24 height estimates. Kiefer is exactly the same height as Carlos, i.e. 174 cm. If you go back to season 3 and 4 there are many shots of the two together to corroborate this. Good you are back!

Editor Rob can also look 5ft 8.5 in a lot of season 5, I still can't make up my mind on this guy. In one episode with Rog Cross he looked 5ft 8 at best...and with the president could look 174 then in episode 5 full-length with kim raver (who doesn't have heels for some scenes with him, just a 1-inch styled shoe) does look 5ft 9.

Too many factors… he is behind Chris Isaak, which will automatically make him look smaller and shorter (things closest to the camera appear larger) and it is possible that Chris is also on a step since it is in a doorway. It may have been Lynch’s goal to make Kiefer look smaller and meaker. It’s been almost 15 years since I saw the movie but memory and the Les Nesman-issue bow tie and specs make me believe his character was to be intellectual-dork. Having him look smaller would exacerbate that stereotype and perhaps be aimed at making Chris’s character look more socially smooth, tough, etc, for that quirky juxtaposition.

So it would seem men take their height from their mother, not father. We know Kiefers mother is a shorty, so I guess this would explain it.

Depending on camera angle, it is a wash to see who is taller. Kiefer or either of these ladies. I'd still put him at 5'10" or a hair under. I'm 5'7" myself and usually wear 3" heels to the office which makes me taller than a lot of my male coworkers so don't underestimate the height of a lady in heels. I do think a lot of the ladies on the show are tall (ie Jean Smart is about 6') as are many of the ladies in Hollywood. One thing to keep in mind is that from his years in rodeo, it could very well be he ended up with disk problems that has changed his height somewhat. I've been riding horses most of my life and know numerous people with back problems from spills, along with hips, neck, and knees.
Other than curiosity, who cares how tall he is? He's a great actor and good looking guy.

Ben is right, Kiefer is only about 5'8." I'm a huge fan of Kiefer and the show 24. I been a HUGE fan of Kiefer since I saw him in 1986 in Stand By Me, when I was only 12 years old. I been a huge fan of 24 since I was saw it in 2001. I'm happy to own most his DVD's including 24 seasons 1 to 4 on DVD. I'm more happy to say my stepsister, her fiance and I met Kiefer Sunday at Bull Moose in Scarborough, Maine. The staff took my camera. Because his agent didn't want anyone to take pictures. We had fun. He gave my stepsister and I a hug. I kissed him on the cheek. He gave me a huge smile and blushed. He signed my 24 DVD twice. Once on the outside cover and once on the inside cover. He is thinner in person than on tv, but he's HOT. He's so friendly, sweet and down to earth. This is an experience I will always remember and keep in my heart forever.
P.S. I know everyone who works at Bull Moose, including the owner. No, they couldn't take pictures. The staff were not his agents. They were people the store hired that was requested by the agents. It was his agents who requested no cameras, not Kiefer.

We were at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas a couple of years ago. Kiefer walked right by us with a couple of bodyguards and gave us a very nice hello. Hubby is 6 feet and we couldn't get over how short Kiefer was. Hubby said he was looking WAAYY down at him. I told him the comments about Kiefer being 5ft 9 and we both said no way! Kiefer looked to be about my height which is 5ft 5 or 5ft 6 at the very most.

Heck, I can BARELY afford to live in Austin Texas! :-) BTW: my mother was 5'5.5" & my dad was 6'0.5". So, I'm 4.5 inches taller than Dad was & ALMOST a foot taller than Mom. BUT, there WERE much taller individuals in both sides of the family. Humans genetics is complicated. I took a genetics course in grad school that was a real "monster"! I found it MUCH tougher than calculus. :-) BOTH parents are equal contributors towards your adult height.

Fair enough Frank. I wouldn't argue with you, I wasn't 5 inches taller than my mother either, but you also have to take the fathers height into account. Its not a matter of just adding 5 to the mother. Try it yourself

Fair enough Frank. I wouldn't argue with you, I wasn't 5 inches taller than my mother either, but you also have to take the fathers height into account. Its not a matter of just adding 5 to the mother. Try it yourself

I find it impossible to believe that even a 5'9" would look that way. Though everyone is different, but Sutherland doesn't look abnormal or misshaped in any way. He looks exactly like a person below 5'7". Generally (normally) men have much smaller/shorter body than women above the waist. But Kiefers body is just to short even for a 5'9" man. I am sure of that.

I had a look at his shoes when he freshened up and they were similar to elevator shoes I had used earlier in my life (felt silly after a while). Maybe tongue in cheek, but anyway sounds like he might have been put in front of a height chart. Although whether the officer noted his height with shoes on is up to question...
The same person who mentioned that quote said, "I met him about a year and a half ago at an MTR event in Los Angeles. I'm 5'7" and was wearing two inch heels and he was taller than me"

My memory might be wrong here, but wasn't Kiefer Sutherland taller than or equal to Jason Patric in "THe Lost Boys?" It's been years since I've seen it and I could be wrong.

Yeah, I have to agree with 5ft 8, I don't think he's any taller at all. My dad is 5ft 8 and he's exactly the same size and build as Kiefer in 24. For years my dad thought he was 5ft 9 though, and I must admit so did I lol!

I actually live near Kiefer, and I see him here and there in Hollywood. At the tallest point of the day, he is 5-8 at best. This is also with his big black biker boots. Next time I see him, I will ask for a pic.

Check out the first series of 24 and look ant Kiefer's shoes; they look slightly dodgy. Not only that, but why do so many people say he's 5'11"? Even in 24 they said he was, the bit that displayed this was the scenes involving the photographer, where Palmers sercurity were on-the-look-out for Jack with apparently being 5'11" tall - which kinda funny. Thing is though, they did try and make him look 5'11" as there were some scenes where Kiefer looked pretty tall. In the later series, Kiefer looks A LOT shorter, so I guess they did away with the 'trying to be 5ft11' trick.

Saw him, OJ and Lou Ferrigno all on the same day at some rich school's baseball tourney in Brentwood. Keifer is same height as Christian Slater, which is to say 5'5". OJ is 6'1" and Lou Ferrigno is a monster, 6'4" and close to 300# easy. He looked like he was gonna turn green and rip out of his clothes right there.

tke a gd look at carlos bernard and him toguether ull see they are just the exat same height and carlos is ranked as 5/8 i think kiefer is too and i also think that kim raver DOES wear high heels

he's got to be atleast 5"9. on 24 when he's next to kim raver (audrey raines) who is 5"9 (i think, add her to your database rob!), he's the same height as her but i dont know if she wears heels or not, so its difficult to tell if he's 5"9 or taller..

The Sutherlands(and I'm talking about the whole scottish clan) fall into 2 basic types, 5-8(ish) and medium build and 6-4(ish) and skinny, so Kiefer is perfectly normal, many of those with the surname Sutherland especialy those who live in Scotland are still like this both types together.

He has such a tall father ... so i'm suprised he turned out so short. His mom is listed as 5'2" so I guess he took after her in size.

I wouldn't have believed it, but the truth is that Kiefer is around 5 ft 8 in just take a look at some pics of him and 5 ft 9 in Woody Harrelson...btw Woodys height can be checked from his drivers license http://www. Mugshots.net/woody_harrelson/woody_harrelson.jpg and usually guys tend to round up a bit ; ) So it could be possible that even Woody is only 5 ft 8 in...
