I cannot argue with 5’7.5”. On Boston Legal she easily edged out Monica Potter and Rhona Mitra. Bell also had an inch on 5’8.5” Spader, so presuming she had on two inch heels at the time, 5’7.5” barefoot would make perfect sense. More likely 5’7.75” than 5’7.25” however. In the Cameron Diaz photo, Diaz looks like she had an advantage in footwear over Bell and Diaz could be over 5’8” barefoot.

5’8 but 6’7 in 10” stilts? Something about the maths seems a bit off there…
Nik Ashton said on 10/Jun/20
I think there is a 5’9” claim in there!

She said she is always mistaken for Amanda Peet despite being less pretty in an interview I read. I've always been more attracted to Bell despite Peet's pretty looks, shes a little taller, seems really funny and talented and, I hope its not wrong of me to say, has an amazing body.

She's more like 5'6.5". You can see pics of her at a premiere standing next to Cameron Diaz, and looking just a hair shorter than Diaz (or the same height, if she's looking up and Diaz isn't), even though Lake's got about 1" more footwear than her.

@ Sandy Cowell - Hi!

I used to watch "Take Me Out" with my parents, although it was my Mum who wanted to watch it the most. The one thing I found from watching it was that height was an issue, particularly with the girls. Most of the men who went on were tall and perhaps some smaller men are too shy to go on but the guys were picky as well, but not so much in terms of height. In all honesty I think it would be better to look like Tom Cruise than be tall or look like a body builder, but that is just my opinion! I think being muscular is a good thing because it is a good indicator of health although people who are not rippling with muscles can be just as healthy as those who are, it is not a necessity to look like this in order to be very healthy although it is one thing that can contribute! Now in terms of height I think you can take it or leave it as far as I am concerned, there is nowt wrong with being tall, medium, or small, because beauty comes from people of all heights! I think it's great to hear about the guy who is always laughing, this is good and it is great that it is such an attractive trait, as is keeping fit.
I am sure many of the people who went on "Take Me Out" weren't on to look for love, my parents and I used to discuss this and we came to the conclusion that some of them wanted to be seen on television and others were after that trip to Fernandos!

Cheers!

@ Nik - Hi! I am watching Paddy McGuinness's TV show 'Take Me Out' - you know that one, where the guys come onto the stage and stipulate what they want from a partner and the girls do likewise. It nearly always includes the person saying how tall they want a partner and that bit is predictable and monotonous because it is more often than not in favour of 'tall', especially where the girls are concerned. There is a bloke on at the moment looking for love and he says he is always laughing; his sister has made a guest appearance and she backs up the statement and throughout his introduction to the girls, he has been laughing! Other than that, he is into fitness, which is good, but he doesn't say whether that includes swimming, so maybe we're not the only ones loafing around who can't swim!
Yes, humour is an attractive trait in a partner, as is keeping fit, but I don't know why they go on TV in order to find love, unless it is purely to be on television! Let's face it, it must be! I don't know what the attraction is myself! I grew out of wanting to be on TV very early on, but I still thought it was amazing if somebody had been! Let's face it, all the people we write about and take an interest in on this website have been on TV! It is part of their lives, and part of being famous, but to me it is just too daunting for comfort!

Cheers Nik!

@ Sandy Cowell

There's nowt wrong with being a bit silly, as it gives us a feel good factor which in turn boosts our mental and physical health, those Frank Spencer DVD's must be worth their weight in gold!
Too true Sandy, that is precisely the sort of thing young kids would come out with, that is a good point! However in all honesty, from the bottom up, you could consider a lake to have a height but people don't usually think about it like that!
I can't swim either Sandy, my EB limited me in this way as I have always had open wounds which in turn need dressings. It's a shame because swimming is a very relaxing and healthy thing to do with ones time, but even without EB I may have been hampered because I have always felt uncomfortable about going underwater water and if you swim you will probably find that this fate will become you now and again
Well I have cast my vote a couple of days ago so I probably brought the average down! You probably did the same! I certainly think she looks more 5'7" than 5'8", I think the average vote is probably more realistic now in terms of her height!

Cheers!

@ Nik - Oh thank you! I was being a bit silly, but I quite enjoy being silly! Watching Frank Spencer must be rubbing off on me!
Quote: "the heights of lakes!" If I am being silly, then I think you have joined me! That sounds hilarious - the sort of thing you would hear a small kid come out with instead of depth!
I can't see myself standing at the bottom of a lake EVER as it is far too dangerous for someone who cannot swim a stroke! I would love to have learnt, but I had quite a serious fear* of getting water in my ears when I was a youngster! Hence, I never learnt!
So we both agree that Lake is either side of 5ft7, which tallies up with the 'average guess' on Lake's page! I'd like to think that after nearly a whole year of having height at the forefront of our minds, our guesses are becoming that much more accurate, wouldn't you? 😉

* My autocorrect tried to change the word 'fear', and one of the alternatives I was given was 'fart'!

@ Sandy Cowell - Hey!

What a great comment to find on this new comments page! True, geographical lakes have a depth, a length and a width! However if you are standing at the bottom of a lake wouldn't it have a height then? Perhaps I am the only person silly enough to have thought this, nobody else talks about the heights of lakes. But I will talk about Lake Bell's height,, and like you, I think that she is shy of the 5'7.5" mark and she certainly looks more likely to be 5'7" than 5'8". I reckon that she hovers around the 5'7" mark barefooted, maybe a little bit below, a little bit above, or bang on 5'7"! I think your call is a good one but I could see anywhere from 5'6.75" - 5'7.25" as her most likely height!

Cheers!

Her name sounds like a geographical feature you might find on a map! There must be loads of them in the world dotted about!
This Lake Bell will be the only one with a height, unless there are any other people called 'Lake'! (Bell is a common enough surname.) Most will have a depth, a length and a width!
This Lake can have 5ft7!

Just google photos of Lake Bell with Simon Pegg and you can easily confirm that she's below 5'7". Films aren't reliable because of camera angles and everyone is made to look taller, slimmer and younger. The best way to find out is to see these folks next to truly tall people at social events where you can easily see their footwear. That said, there are loads of photos where she's standing right beside Pegg, and even in heels and her hair in a high bun, she's still noticeably shorter than Pegg (Rob's got him here as 5'9"). As for being a volleyball player, there are loads of women her age (she's near 40) who are shorter than 5'7" and play volleyball. We see taller women nowadays because the younger generations are getting taller and taller.

Looked taller than I expected when I flipped the channels to No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher, she looked probably a solid 5'8" there (don't care for Kutcher, so kept flipping). I think at times she does look a fraction under otherwise.

Some sites say she's 6'2". What's that about??
anony said on 28/Jun/09
in 'what happens in vegas' she looks a little bit shorter than cameron diaz.. like an inch or two.. but they're both listed as 5'8 on this site. hm?

In the film "Over her dead body" she is more like 1 inch shorter than 5'9" Paul Rudd. So 5'8" seems right.
Kip said on 2/Feb/06
She's got to be at least 5'11 or over. Lake Bell was a professional volleyball player before she turned actress. How many pro VB players do you see on tv or in the olympics that are short?? Only the setters, and even then they are taller than us.

Oh, good! Her height is posted! Well, that´s more like it! 5'8/173 cm makes a lot of more sense than 6'0, or what´s even worse the height of 6'2, that some sites give her!
