I believe lebron is 6'8 1/2 saw him on the streaming vid today of game 5 of the WCF, he was just on his sleepers, him & AD were standing at the back while pelinka was giving a short speech. And they were almost same in height...

Anyone have a link where he claimed 6'9"?

Also if he said that to Dwight Howard or Larry Bird do you think he'd be called out lol

If he is happy to inflate others, then why wouldn't he inflate himself a little bit...

Wow! I didn’t even hear the video until now. He actually said KCP is 6’6,5 or 6’7”? KCP measured 6’4.5” barefoot. Talk about giving away your own lie. He admitted in a nutshell that he’s 6’7”

@Editor Rob: Hmmmm? Markieff Morris was listed at 6’10” now he’s listed near his pre draft of 6’7.75 and rounded to 6’8”. Danny Green is listed 6’6” but measured 6’4.5 (afternoon) in 2008 and 6’5.25 in 2009 (morning). KCP measured 6’4.5” and is listed 6’5”. We already know that Davis measured 6’9.75”. So he’s saying Markieff Morris is taller than him when he’s supposed to be shorter lol. That gives away his own lie about his height

Funny how he didn't start claiming 6'9" until his 6'8.5" barefoot "measurement" in 2019. He had always claimed 6'8" before then.

Rob just said it here:

Clubs themselves submit figures to the NBA itself, so it's up to the clubs to measure and submit them.

So the players don’t submit it the teams do. And the teams were forced to do it. Do you really think they wanted to?
Editor Rob
And if you are *the* biggest name in the sport, are you going to be undermeasured?

However, it can't be dismissed entirely - it would have been great if the player measurements were recorded on camera and submitted to the NBA that way, for historical records.

Lebron is more than an inch taller than Carmelo. Seems like Lebron slouches quite often with the exception of when he talks to a player after a game. If you look at those pictures his true height is seen. Honestly think 6'8 with growth after his draft measurement accounting for that difference.

One of the biggest height frauds in NBA history lol!

There are some others out there with this new metric being implemented this year. Ben Simmons only measured 6’8.25 previously and doesn’t look over 6’8”. See 6’8.75 Al Horford with him. He’s not as tall as Horford. Then Boban Marjonivic was measured 7’2.25” and Porzangis 7’1.25”. Both generously β€œreceived” 7’2.75 and 7’3.5 this year lol. I’d bet money that neither of them grew which means Luka Doncic likely isnt as tall as he measured based on how he looks with them or how he looked with Harrison Barnes who is 6’6.5ish barefoot

Lonny Baxter measured 6-6.25 and I always thought Boozer looked to have around 2 inches on him when they had those epic Maryland-Duke games in the early 2000s.

Yeah I can buy 6-7.5

@Viper: I’ve heard Baxter referred to as 6’5” by one of his college teammates. Maybe Chris Wilcox? But my guess is it’s a morning measurement and he’s something like Shawn Marion 6’6.25 but said to be 6’5-6’6 range. I doubt he was less than 6’5.5-6’6”. Boozer was probably about 2” taller

I don't understand the need to inflate player heights. Lebron is 6'7 and a great player. He might clear 6'9 in the morning with shoes on. He is a very tall human being and is probably massive in person.

People like the idea of taller players who can handle the ball and run an offense to the point that they inflate their heights. I keep seeing this type of inflation with Jayson Tatum. He looks about 6'8 range barefoot and there are articles that he is 6'11.

6'4ish Lonzo Ball is 6'7. Magic is 6'9. Ben Simmons is 6'10. Lebron is 6'9. KD is 7'0. I recently heard Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo both on separate occasions claim that Luka Doncic is 6'8.5.

I guess it just sounds more impressive. KD being a "7 footer" who can shoot and handle the ball is more compelling than if he was 6'9. I don't see the point in this exaggeration. Whether Lebron is 6'7 or 6'9, it doesn't change anything or make his career less impressive. Same for KD, Luka, etc.
Canson said on 20/Aug/20

@Viper: that’s because PG is lankier. Lebron being that built can make him look shorter at times honestly. More so with Zion Williamson though. He has more weight which makes him appear shorter than he is in some pics. I bet if Lebron had been accurately measured barefoot, he would have maintained the 6’8” listing especially if it had been 6’7.5 or 6’7.75. Even at 6’7.25 they would’ve rounded up like they did for Chris Paul 6’0.25 to 6’1”

If you compare the level of the white line, there isn't so much height difference between AD and BS. The position of JE in the two pictures is not the same, with AD closer to the camera and consequently the prospective plays a fundamental role for a right evaluation.

@Robbe: not to mention Drummond is a morning measurement himself. I doubt he’s 6’9.75 afternoon height. LaMarcus Aldridge is taller than he is
Robbe said on 3/Aug/20
So Rob, why do you still have Ben at 6'9? No chance he is only 0.75in shorter than 6'9.75 listed Andre Drummond.

Ben's crown reaches on Joel's eyebrows, while Andre's at least 1.5in above. More like 1.75in. Joel has surely at least 10cm from his eyebrows to his crown. So Ben should be listed around 203cm. LeBron is about 1.5-2cm shorter than Ben.

@Christian: I still wonder how Lebron only got Flat 6’8” in his? I wonder if they just gave him his 6’8” and didn’t bother to measure in shoes or if he was not measured at all at the pre draft. Maybe the 6’8.5 that he’s listed today is what he really would’ve been in shoes at that time of the day given a 6’7.25 measurement? Although I really think they did that just to give him his 6’9” listing without going overboard. I notice that most of the Super superstars such as Simmons, Westbrook, Harden, Antetekoumpo, Kawhi Leonard, Steph Curry and a few others all remained the same height when the only one or maybe two that would get close enough in the morning are Giannis and Westbrook if they got 6’10.5-.75 and 6’2.5” or Embiid. Then I noticed most guys only lost one inch when some of those guys are measuring out around 1/4” over the mark and should’ve been rounded down 1/4” and not up 3/4”. Look at Jordan Clarkson DeAngelo Russell Demar Derozan etc. then other guys grew such as Durant and Lebron. Then you have guys like Zach Levine, Jae Crowder or Justice Winslow or the kings who didn’t change or Jimmy Butler who lost just 1”. Anthony Davis Is at that level of superstar and so was Paul George Last season at least but Davis has said before he wanted to be 6’10” and not 6’11” so maybe that was his choice and George probably dropped to 6’8” since he doesn’t need the size. The only player that is close to that caliber that lost more than 1” was Bradley Beal

It's defintiey either a typo or a data error then. Even the listing of the guy who measured 6'3" barefoot and 6'3.5" with shoe, is mostly likely is, because no modern basketball shoe give only 1/2", unless if it was a pair of canvas shoes like Converse, but even those add 5/8", not 1/2".

@Christian: there was one player several years back who measured 6’5.25” Barefoot at the combine and 6’8.5” in sneaks. Talk about a wide variance or possibly even a discrepancy.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 2/Mar/20
It baffles my mind how there can be a difference that drastic between measured barefoot and shoe heights in sports. At the 2019 NBA G League combine, one player measured 6'3" barefoot but only 6'3.5" in shoes, while another measured 6'2.5" barefoot but 6'6" in shoes. What in the heck was that guy wearing at the combine, women's high heels? Lol Click Here

Though I wouldn't be 100 percent confident he's a real 6-9 with how bad they messed up isaiah briscoe's measurements.

@goma76 Hayward dips down to about 6'6". He measured 6'6 3/4" at his combine which was likely early morning. So Lebron at 6'7" at that time and them likely a footwear advantage as I detailed below and he would likely look comfortably over an inch taller than Gordon.
Canson said on 24/Feb/20
@Goma76: Lebron measured taller than Hayward 6’7.25 vs 6’6.75. Not to mention Hayward’s was a morning measurement whereas Lebron’s from 2003 looks closeR to where he would measure at an afternoon height as he looks 6’7” usually

@Duhon you are dead wrong on this one my friend. Several Lebron shoes give right at 1.5 inches and that is without an orthotic and many basketball players use a good, thick orthotic which is absolutely wise. Got to protect the feet, which is the foundation for a basketball player. And lebron is known as taking care of his body at extreme lengths and more than perhaps anyone in sports outside of perhaps someone like Tom Brady. I would bet good money he not only wears an orthotic but the absolute top of the line you can get and those are thick. So we know Lebron plays in his own shoes and we know that alone puts him 1.3 minimum to 1.5 depending on the model and the new ones are all taller. And u add an orthotic and that's at least .2 to .25 more. So kuzma talk of lebron shoes adding lots of height is no doubt dead on. Hes stood by him barefoot hundreds of times in locker room so he knows hes getting a ton from them. No hes not 7 foot in them obviously but he no doubt is somewhere close to 2 inches and I've known other players who get 1.5 to around two. Lebron nike shoes are made extra strong with great ankle support so hes hjust fine with that boosted height.

Here is some more interesting facts about latest measurements:

-Of total 511 players, 304 went down.
-23 players went up.
-185 players kept their heights.
- Biggest looser, Eric Paschall, went down from 6'9 to 6'6.
- Before, there were 43 billed seven footers, or taller, and after measurement, only 33, so 10 went down there.
- Jamier Nelson was 6ft with shoes on, and 5'9.75 without shoes, so he wore shoes with 2.25in heels.

-Team Cleveland Cavaliers EVERY player went down.
- Team New York Knicks every player went down, exept Taj Gibson.
-Sacramento was the only team which kept their total height. Kyle Guy went down an inch, but Harry Giles went up an inch.
- Non of the teams increased their total height.
- For the first time in 40 years, average height in NBA went down from 201cm to 199cm.

I dont know how they measured LeBron, but that's the figure he got. He certainly doesn't look that tall. Maybe he was measured straight out of bed, or he was slightly tiptoeing. Dunno.
Canson said on 5/Feb/20

@Big Rob, they didn't mention any names, but 7 players were using shoes with 7cm heels. Counting all NBA players, average heel size was 3.3cm.

Podcast hosts also wondered who the heck plays with 7cm heels lol :D
Robbe said on 5/Feb/20
I just listeded a 2h podcast about NBA players latest barefoot measurements. It was very interesting, ie there were 13 players supposed to be 7ft 1in, but after measurement, only one kept his status, Rudy Gobert. Two guys were only 6'11, rest were 7ft.

They also measured players shoes, lowest heels were 0.5in, thickest 3in!

Lebron was measured 206cm barefoot. So that should be his current height.

I also believe Anthony Davis’s measurement of 6’9.75 to be an afternoon measurement. That was exactly how Jimmy Kimmel measured him (6’11 in basketball shoes). Canson said on 22/Dec/19
@Shane and Duhon: provided his combine measurement actually occurred, he didn’t use an orthotic at the combine. He only got 3/4” for shoes. I say provided because of his mention that he was not measured after surpassing Jordan’s 6’6” but then again I’ve seen him claim 6’7” twice so he has to be somewhere near it. I could buy something like his listing here being his midday or maybe 6’7 1/8”. Afternoon height would be right around the 6’7” mark in my opinion. The 6’8.5 is absurd. He should be listed the same as Kevin Love. Possibly a shoe measurement or it’s him being measured early morning around 6’8” and rounded up. Someone that size can lose the full inch and if that’s the case maybe his combine listing was in the afternoon
Duhon said on 21/Dec/19
@Shane thick orthotics let alone those measuring close to 2" would be very risky to wear in a shoe while you are running up and down the court that's just asking for an ankle injury. No way his shoes have anything like that in them.
Shane said on 20/Dec/19
@Viper some Lebron shoes are very tall AND considering how well Lebron takes care of his body, I'd say he was a very thick orthotic so he may gain close to 2 inches.

@Canson James likely is gaining more from his shoes than Melo is there. Lebron new model shoes are very tall.
I'd say he is gaining 1.75 inch range with a thick orthotic and considering how well he takes care of himself (as I mentioned above), I think he is very likely to use a very beefy one.

Check this video out guys Click Here . At 4:43 Kyle kuzma talks about how LeBron shoes makes him 7 ft because of the high rise. That's probably why people say LeBron looks a lot taller than he actually is because his shoes elevate him so much. In reality bron is not over 6 ft 7. Probably between 6ft6 and 6ft7. In the picture I posted before with him and Carmelo Click Here zoom in on their heads, he appears to be taller because he has a higher eye level and his head band is covering the top of his head so you can't see it much, but in reality, he is more 200 cm maybe between the 199.15 and 200.15 range. I would say 199.7 regularly. He is taller than melo but 2 cm max. LeBron does have a longer upper body so he would probably lose more height, due to spine compression and tiredness, than someone like melo who has longer legs. LeBron also has a flatter head while melo's is a little pointed at the back. They are probably really only 1 cm apart after LeBron's spine has been compressed after a game, long workout or day. LeBron's eye level combined with his signature shoes probably has people thinking he is taller than he actually is. Click Here here LeBron looks a lot taller but it's just his elevating shoes combined with his eye level: Click Here

This looks like a big difference but LeBron is just closer to the camera + the angle is favoring him: Click Here

LeBron is more of a 2 meter guy if anything. If someone were to say 199 cm they also probably aren't wrong either because he falls between those two. Him and melo are practically the same height they are definitely not an inch apart.

@Keis he is under 7 foot that's what they measured him at barefoot! We aren't talking shoe heights here. And lebron compared to others who have been measured at 6'7" to 6'9" proves he is nowhere near 6'8 1/2" barefoot.
Wingspanpro said on 31/Oct/19
I think Lebron is often not exactly straight, especially with "big" men on the media day with (AD, Bosh, Dwight, K-Love).
For example His back is not strainght.

in my opinion is Lebron 6'8, Love 6'8, Durant 6'10, Dwight 6'9.75-6'10, AD 6'10.25, Bosh 6'10.75, Demarcus 6'9.5 (all height are meant in the morning)

Embid was listed and announced as 7'2 if ypu meet him hes not under 7. LeBron doesno seem shorter than me..
Shane Gray said on 29/Oct/19
@Canson yes some are accurate or at least accurate enough to be at the half inch mark in morning or when measured and rounded up. Some obviously arent, including Lebron, Chris Paul etc.
Canson said on 29/Oct/19
@Keis: you were the one who also said that Embiid was 7’2” when he’s 6’11.75”. You think everyone is taller than they are. Cam Newton said in person Lebron is 6’7” as did someone I know that met him. Lebron is shorter than Kuzma and Love yet listed taller now
Keis said on 28/Oct/19
I dont see how you guys dont think Lebron is 6'8.5 im 6'8.5 and he seems my height to me. Im only 185 ish so Im much thinner than him but I doubt hes shorter than me. Draymond also re did his measurement without shoes hes 6'6.
Canson said on 28/Oct/19
@Shane and Jackson: I’m sure some of the heights are accurate at the time that they measured them (in the morning). But I’m willing to bet that by the standards here on this site that very few would align with the way Rob defines a low. I’m sure maybe a couple measures say 6’3.25 and dip to 6’2.75 or 7/8 but that’s about as close as it gets. Even a legit 6’3” afternoon guy would probably get a 6’4” listing with this new system being they would get 6’3 3/8 or 1/2” an hour after waking and be rounded up.

@Spencer: if you have Draymond at 6’6 Lebron would be about 6’8”. The reality is in their listings here on the site as that’s about how they vary 2” difference roughly. My guess Draymond low case 6’5” flat best case 6’5 1/8 maybe Lebron may be around what you said if Draymond falls to 6’5” flat but Lebron may be 6’7” flat as well. If morning measurements they would be listed 6’6 and 6’8” (rounded up). I don’t know how in the world Lebron got 6’8.5 because he’s not anywhere near. He’s not taller than Love who measured 6’7.75 early morning and is listed 6’8 while he’s listed 6’9”
Shane Gray said on 27/Oct/19
@Jackson exactly
Jackson said on 27/Oct/19
@Shane

Your absolutely correct. The NBA made the rule and the teams did the measuring. I guarantee the team was more than happy to help some guys out with their height and not force them to be 100% accurate. It’s why the new measuring systems are just dumb and not accurate. I’d say some guys got accurate new heights but..... others did not at all
Canson said on 26/Oct/19
@Mickie: agreed
Shane Gray said on 25/Oct/19
@Myself you're missing it. It's not that people dont know how to measure. This is the issue:

The NBA DID NOT measure the players nor did they attend the measurements. There was no oversight.

The NBA forced this policy in the teams and the teams and players did not want it. But then the nba let the teams self report the in sock measurements. And thus, they are unreliable for that reason.
Johnson said on 25/Oct/19
What do you guys think about Jeff Teague??

At 21 he was measured 6'0.25 without shoes
Today he is listed 6'3... But although he was 6'2 that is a big growth!!
Editor Rob
With Terrence Howard, a bit nearer the camera there...I don't know about 6ft 3!
Canson said on 25/Oct/19
@Shane: Thaddeus Young is another one. Still listed 6’8”. He measured 6’5.75” when drafted
Josue said on 25/Oct/19
I've noticed on this site some players like LeBron keeps his listed morning height while a player like Draymond Green who measured morning 6'5.75" gets downgraded to 6'5.25" afternoon height. Why is that Rob?
Editor Rob
Well they are saying lebron 'measured' 6ft 8.5, which I find hard to believe, but I can believe he measured 6ft 7.5-7.75 earlier in the day.
Canson said on 24/Oct/19
@Jackson: Kuzma is probably 6’7.5 since 6’8 was his morning height at the pre draft. Maybe even a little less than 6’7.5 so he’s maybe 1/2” taller than Lebron. Ingram should be the same height as Lebron from what I’ve seen. He probably took the 6’7”’listing due to his low weight
Canson said on 24/Oct/19
@Shane: I agree with everything you said. Howard has always looked 6’9-6’9.5 range. Meaning a solid 6’9” guy vs a weak 6’9” but never a weak 6’10” or better. Lebron still looks the same height as he was when he came in the league
Canson said on 24/Oct/19
Phil Jackson was never a barefoot 6’8”. He was 6’7” prime height. Not sure today. Kupchak was a peak 6’9” based on how he stood with the others not 6’9.5 or else he would’ve been 6’10 on paper
RP said on 24/Oct/19
LeBron 6’7.5”
Anthony Davis 6’9.75
Kyle Kuzma 6’7.75”
Mickie said on 24/Oct/19
Lebron is around 6'7". The measured height in his case is obviously fake.
Jackson said on 24/Oct/19

Wow that’s insane ! And now Brandon is Listed at 6’7”
Canson said on 24/Oct/19
@Viper: because he’s so thin. He is the same size as Lebron

They had one job...

Just another proof of the fact that they have no clue about how to properly measure. Their measurements are complete garbage that should never be really trusted.
Complete incompetence; I hope they at least managed to figure out how a stadiometer works.
A 100k years go caveman would do a better job.
Editor Rob
I think many might be quite realistic, but there's some that don't add up.
Canson said on 23/Oct/19
@Shane: Sacramento didn’t comply at all. Not sure if Orlando did either. I do see that Kevin Love is listed 6’8” now which is probably 6’7.75 morning height like he was. He and Lebron are the same height at 6’7”. I wonder why Adam Silver being he’s met Lebron doesn’t realize it. Lebron’s height should grab attention lol. And case in point see Lebron with Ingram last year. Ingram really looks taller perhaps. He’s 6’7” on the league site now
Canson said on 23/Oct/19
Wingspanpro said on 22/Oct/19
Lebron James is the same height like Ingram, both are 6'7.5-6'8 Click Here

Ingram is now listed on NBA.com at 6’7”.

He isn’t more than 6’7-6’7.5 next to an aged Mitch Kupchak

I Can see Lebron at 6’7.5” at times. He was taller then a Brandon Ingram last year from most games I watched I always noticed. But I still have absolutely no clue how he got a 6’8.5” barefoot measurement

Some of these new NBA heights are sooo weird... some guys get downgraded and some guys who obviously need downgrades stay exactly the same...
Shane Gray said on 22/Oct/19
@Canson Almost all teams are updated now at stats.nba.com/playerbios. Obviously some fakes in there. And then even those honest are rounding up at half inch. At least one team didnt comply at all for any players. No chance Lebron measured6'8 1/2" barefoot. But it does have Dwight Howard at 6'9 3/4" as well as AD. So these had to be early morning for Dwight to get that. But I dont buy Lebrons. No way. Did he ever look like the guys formerly listed at 6'10" and 6'11"? No. And that's even while wearing some of tallest shoes if anyone.
Canson said on 22/Oct/19
@Jackson: I think 6’7” is good for him if going by the site’s standards. Afternoon height. Love is likely a morning height too. Probably 6’7.25 at a low. I know a few such as Dan Majerle when they have met him described him as 6’7” as well. 6’7.25 is probably ok being it’s possible that he’s that 5 hours out of bed as maybe he’s 201 which is the highest I could see for him at an afternoon
Canson said on 22/Oct/19
I don’t get it

Canson said on 21/Oct/19
@Viper: yes and I love it when you hear because I grew maybe he did. He even claimed 6’7” twice well into his career. He has a physical done regularly so I’m sure at some point in his career he was measured
Canson said on 21/Oct/19
@JT: my guess for afternoon heights:
Given 1.25” basketball shoe. Lebron 6’8”-8.25
Given 1.25” basketball shoe. AD 6’10.75-6’11”

I’d say a 7-8 cm difference between them
Jackson said on 21/Oct/19
@canson

Yeah the 6’8.5” barefoot is definitely not something i can believe.. the absolute tallest i could ever put Lebron at is 6’7.5” or maybe 6’7.75” as there’s times he stacks up very well next to 6’7.75” Kevin Love

I have always thought this 6’7.25” listing he has is perfectly fine though.
Jackson said on 21/Oct/19
@manson

No you are wrong. The NBA app and site hasn’t updated anyone’s new height measurements yet. The new heights probably won’t all appear for a little while due to there being so many heights to change.

@JT: Davis measured around 6’11” in shoes on jimmy Kimmel. I can buy his listing but Lebron probably is a solid 6’7” still. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lebron were actually 6’6.5 vs 6’8.5
Canson said on 20/Oct/19
@Jackson: problem is we saw Davis measure around 6’11” In shoes on Jimmy Kimmel. And the NBA isn’t going to underlist anyone now. Maybe over list but with the rules the one candidate was Durant and the nets have him at 6’10” now. But also see Lebron with Carmelo Anthony who I saw in person only 3-4 years ago when he was done growing and was still 6’6” (how he looked) or maybe best case his pre draft. Lebron doesn’t look over 6’7” . Too many people would have to have grown for Lebron to be 6’8”
Roderick said on 20/Oct/19
@Rob Maybe he measured 6'7.5" early morning and they put down 6'8.5". Not sure.

I know some people may think I'm a pyscho but I can even buy 6'6.5" for LeBron at a low.
Editor Rob
Simple mis-calls or reading a figure wrong can happen.

I nearly it done it myself when measuring somebody, I read something like 65 inches and called out 5ft 6. I quickly corrected it of course 😲

I can totally believe Anthony Davis measured 6'9.75" but not Lebron 6'8.5". If there was one guy who the NBA would want to keep overbilling it would be Lebron James.
Jackson said on 20/Oct/19
He honestly could have grown and Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis are getting underlisted. I mean Kevin and Anthony Davis both do not want to be listed over 6’10” I think they’ve both said that before. The Main thing this has shown me though.... is that some of these guys seems to be able to just dictate whatever height they want while others have no control and just got downgraded.
