A Very Happy 62nd Birthday to Lita Ford, who is today celebrating her 62nd Birthday. The Runaways must have been incredibly young when they kicked off their musical careers in the 70s. I was 15, nearly 16, when my Mum bought me The Sun Book of Rock for Christmas. If I remember rightly, The Runaways were the only girl band to be featured in this book, which was written by Bob Harris. They will still have been in their teens, so this was by no means a measly accomplishment. Other rock groups featured were Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and so it goes on....
Seriously heavy rock!

@ Nik - I have been awake now for nearly three nights! After having such an operation, you cannot turn your body, sleeping on your sides being right out of the window, you can't bend and you can't cross your legs, and it is awful! I have just written to young Ben and hopefully others like him will read it and learn from my mistakes! Even when I used the vibrostation, I overdid it!
Yes, the cats were ever so pleased to see me! I am back off to bed now and shall try for some sleep!

@ Nik - Hi my great friend! Operation is over now and, yes, I am in great pain, but happy and optimistic. Also I am at least 5ft. The smallest nurse here, a little Chinese nurse, is 5ft and thinks I am the same! She is also a little diamond, as indeed are 99% of nurses, though usually with more inches to their height, of course!
Now for Lita:
What a fantastic addition to this website and thoroughly well deserved! The group 'The Runaways' really gave female singers the chance to become ballzy rock stars! They were pretty much average heights, dressed sexily and wore the raunchiest of outfits! Men went mad for them, and girls started forming gritty rock groups of their own! Hooray for 'The Runaways'!
Another thing: very recently, I saw fellow Runaway Cherrie Curry in a horror film, looking SHORT - about 5ft3, and also Joan Jett starred in a Stephen King film! I wonder if Lita has made any film appearances herself? Does anyone know?
Anyway, I cast my vote at 5ft5.
