i say he was 5'10- 5'11. He was pretty tall, not 6' feet but defiantly not 5'8. For everyone who is saying his shoes made up for the what, the 4-5 inches that made him appear to be 5'11, that's absurd. If Michael was strutting around in high heels like that, I'm sure he would have had much more negative attention then what he got.

His shoes might have contributed to an 1 inch of his height but really no more then that.

Of course he was 5'7! He's only ever really looked tall with people who are about 5'3 or shorter...He was closer to 5'6 George Lucas in height than 5'9 Eddie Murphy. Asera - Yeah I agree. He was about 5'7 tops. When ever he wasn't performing in his trademark loafers he would always wear those shoes with the heels on them.

btw I think he was 105 in the 80s. I read his book and he said he had a desire for a dancers body. Not exactly anorexic. Apparently he was 136 or something when he died. Even though he looked noticeably skinner then rather than in the 80s.

Murphy wears lifts, Jax's posture is always bad in poses. Both are 5' 9". 5' 9" a few feet from me in a court. He's taller than you think with good posture and if you ever saw him close-up.

I don't know if the whole autopsy report is a fake...but the height measuring definitely IS! One thing is sure at least, we know that at least when Michael was still ALIVE he was never more than 5'7 without shoes on. For some odd reason they're still lying about his height, I can't imagine why though. It's not like it's very difficult for anyone to see for themselves that he wasn't really 5'9.
We can all see ourselves from evidence that he was NOT over 5'7 ever.
Funny thing is, they did already admit ( Click Here ) that in the 80's he was the same height and weight as Fred Astaire. So 5'7 and about 100 lbs in his 20's. Great height for a dancer! Anorexic if that weight is true unfortunately. It's really obvious he was never a big man in any kind of way. VERY small, slight and slender actually. At least by the "western" standards!

The Japanese singer recalls, his first impression of Michael was, (MJ was) shorter than he had expected. The singer's height is 5 ft 9 in (175 cm). 175 cm man doesn't　think 175 cm man shorter. Obviously his 'short' means MJ was under 175 cm tall.

Well,never would I tought that Michael was less than 5'9, but some pictures show it, so he can't be the same height as someone as tall as 5'7 and 6'0 and in some pictures he is, so it's very confusing.I agree he was wearing heeled boots, and it's OK, but he had very long legs, could this be the reason for the ilussion? ONLY in his heels was he ever that tall!The picture of Michael and Lucas right next to each other proves without any doubt that he was never over 5'7. Lucas is around 167 cm, everyone knows that, and Michael is maybe a few cm or an inch at most taller. One inch from 5'6 is 5'7! He looks VERY close to Diana Ross,that's why I compare them together so much. They just look too close in height and body proportions for him to be taller. She's between 5'4 and 5'5.
And dancers usually ARE smaller people. If he was 5'9 or over I doubt he could be nearly as fast and agile!I think his height was just perfect for him too. I wouldn't want him to be any taller!Makes him even more appealing(and cute&sexy!)to me. I guess I just like guys close to my own height.

And you must also remember that Michael's mother Katherine is VERY tiny,she only looks about 4'11-5'0 most of the time.And height is very much hereditary and in the genes.It wouldn't be very likely that her kids would grow to be giants either! That's the main reason most of the Jackson kids are quite small also, all the girls and Randy, Marlon and Michael are at least. I think Jermaine and Jackie are a little bit taller than the others.

Sheryl is 156 cm ( about the same height as Stevie Nicks who is 5'1 Click Here ) and Michael I bet is just about169 cm barefoot!He would be about 172 cm in his shoes and she about 162 cm in her heels. There's practically NO difference between him and George Lucas in that picture where they stand RIGHT next to each other. And I doubt Lucas is any more than 167 cm. He's leaning, if he adopted Alan's posture his eyelevel would be around the bridge of Alan's nose.

I'm a fan and all, but I noticed during the later years in his career around the 90s when he wasn't performing he would wear shoes that kind of had heels. I don't know the exact name and I can't give a picture, but I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about. They weren't the casual loafers.

In the early 1980s, I read his biography written by Mark Bego that said his height was about 175cm. In that book, you can see the picture of MJ in the Off the Wall era, wearing high heel boots.

Guys, back in 1992 Michael came with the Dangerous Tour in my country.During Black or White performance he changed his clothes and he had BOOTS WITH NO HEELS and he still looked tall.Also there is a video on Youtube where Michael is standing next to Nick Carter (backstreet Boys).Nick Carter is tall- 185 cm and in that video although Michael is shorter than Nick, Michael still doesn't look very small.

Michael is 5' 10".This is accurate. he claimed in his autobiography, Moonwalk, that he was 5' 10". Some sources that i have seen said he was 5' 9" but I disagree. I am 5' 11" and am 13 years old (a girl) so I know that he was barely shorter. I know Tito and Blanket personally. Gotta love you Michael!

We have actual photographic evidence that he's the same height as Frank Sinatra who was 5'7 and also nearly the same height as George Lucas who is 5'6! MJ WAS only 171 cm tall!! If you met him only ONCE and he was wearing boots with heels of like 5-6 cm(which he did many times!) then obviously you would think he was about 5'9! Michael IS in reality only between 5'7-5'8, about 171 cm tall! Just look at his mother!She is really VERY short, and so are Janet, Randy and LaToya too.

His Autopsy said he was 5'9. And in his book, Moonwalk, he said himself that he was 5'10. That was in the late 80's so he could have lost an inch since then.

Just looking at this Alan Light picture again and I don't know how anyone who claims they can expertly gauge height (looking at Viper) can say MJ is not 5'9". Shoulders, people, SHOULDERS. Look at their shoulder levels. THEN, take into account MJ trying to minimize the height difference with Light's kid. MJ is CLEARLY leaning and bending in with the kid.

MJ looks like he was losing roughly an inch due to his posture. If MJ straightened out then that would be a 5'9" man, just like the coroner measured. 5'8.75" or 5'9.25"? I don't know, but close enough.

I do, however, agree this 5'11" nonsense is, well... nonsense lol.

MJ does not look like he towers much over James Brown, who is only 5'5 at best. Even if he was wearing lifts, MJ should tower more over James Brown if he is 5'11.
In my opinion, MJ does not tower Janet by 7 inches. It looks like about 4 inches and I'm not Janet's hair. Have you ever thought that maybe MJ was wearing his lifts in the picture with Janet anyway? I have been a MJ's huge fan for almost 30 years.

Conclusion: I think that MJ was about 5 feet and 8 inches tall.
He had long arms and legs, having so perfect a frame that made him look much taller.

Yeah, I would have guessed he was about this tall. I was curious after seeing "Living With Michael Jackson" in which he towers over the little Indian journalist who made him look over six-feet. It must have been that the "little Indian journalist" was 5'7 at the most.

Dural : LOL! Are those pictures supposed to be some kind of proof that he was 5'10? He looks about 173cm or shorter in ALL those pictures! Never in a million years was he ever 5'10...except maybe with heels ;)
The picture with Eddie Murphy proves it. He has heeled boots on and Murphy is wearing very flat shoes and is STILL taller! I really think you should change his height to 5'8 on this site...

I can't access the pic at the moment (due to heavy internet traffic or something), but if you google Michael Jackson/Lionel Richie, you will see several pics of them looking pretty much exactly the same height. Lionel is allegedly 5-11. I'm not saying Michael was 5-11, but I really think he was about 5-10.

Ritchie is listed at 5'11", but is really about 5'10". I know since I met him in a Hollywood recording studio a friend of mine owns. As you can see, Jackson is two inches shorter.

Michael was on the short side, at 5-8. No way was he average height. Hes not 5-9. What was really funny was some woman on tv said she thought he looked taller than expected. I guess she thought he looked 5-6.

I am still in tears. i cant really beleave we lost him, he was one of the greats. All day i have been watching his video's. It still feels like he is here but that will some day come to an end. We will miss him and see him in our kindom what and were ever that may be. Oh hope his legacy stays true. No one will be the same.

I think he was about 173 cm...that's 5'8. Some fans still want to believe that he was 5'10 or taller, but that was clearly not the case. I'm a fan myself and I don't have any problems admitting that he wasn't very tall. He had a very strong voice and personality in a small body. I think it makes him even more amazing.

i stood by his waxwork in madame tussauds in london and he is pretty small for a guy. i am 5'8" and i don't think he was taller than that.

jackson always wore very flat footwear while he was performing and on other occasions, this made him look shorter around people, jackson was between 5'9 and 5'10
