I would guess Jones was 5'8, Bonham 5'10, Page 5'10, and Plant 6ft.

Plant was notorious for his boots adding 2-3 inches to himself so it's no surprise that he comes across as 6'2/6'3 at times in the old footage. He's obviously less than 6ft now. I can tell he's the same height as 6ft Townshend.
Glenn said on 13/Aug/06
Not true.I have a friend at 40 who shrunk at least an inch.Plant was 6-4 because of the boots.

Robert Plant is 6'1" tall. Some years ago he was here for a concert and happened to be staying at a hotel where I was picking up tickets for a New Year's bash. He literally mowed me down on his way out of the building. He helped me up off the floor and he felt so badly that he bought me a drink in the lounge and we talked for awhile. He was very nice. He offered me tickets to see his show but I wasn't much of a fan of his so I lied and said I had something going on that night.

Plant is not old enough to have shrunk much although a car accident is mentioned below and it is suggested this effected his stature. Guys don't shrink much until they get into their 60s and 70s.
Danimal said on 8/Aug/06
Anthony the way that's phrased makes the statement ambiguous. 6'4" in boots is not the same as 6'4" with his boots on.
Anthony said on 7/Aug/06
Glenn meant 6'4 in boots.
Danimal said on 7/Aug/06
Well, his boots could have had 3" heels Glenn. Did you mean he looked 6'4" in his boots, or 6'4" plus his boots?
mcfan said on 7/Aug/06
I think he looks 5'11 now. An old magazine I have stated he was 6ft. He probably was. He was notorious for huge heels...cowboy boots mainly.
Anthony said on 1/Aug/06
Even without boots, as already stated, Plant was still quite tall in his prime. 6'1 - 6'2 is about the right estimate.
Glenn said on 30/Jul/06
first time I met him he was 6-4 in boots.wait till you see that one.
Anonymous said on 29/Jul/06
He looks towering in all the old photos. I always thought he was at least 6'2''. I'm really surprised by the photos with Glenn. He looks barely 6 ft.
Danimal said on 24/Jul/06
Cause I saw him perform Darkness Darkness on Dave Letterman sometime in 2002 (could have even been 2003) and he appeared marginally shorter than Dave. Could be that he was just under 6'1".
Glenn said on 24/Jul/06
Correct Danimal.
Danimal said on 24/Jul/06
Plant looked a solid 6'1" even up until 2002.

JPJ was the shortest Led Zeppelin member. In just about every pic I've seen of him the tallest I've seen him look is just under 5'10.

Page was at least 5'11 when he was younger. I have seen pics of him looking 6', though his shoes, though not as extravagant as Plant, had fairly high heels. Plant I've come close to the conclusion that he was 6'2 during Led Zep's glory days, but after his car crash in 1976, he lost some height early on due to the damage he did to his back and ankles (he was in a wheelchair for a good portion of the "Presence" sessions and tour rehearsals during that period).
Glenn said on 23/Jul/06
No, Page isnt 5-11.he is 6ft.and Jones is 5-8,possibly 5-9 in his youth.I have multiple photos over a 16 year period.I KNOW there heights.Page even looked 6-3 once in boots and afro.saw him once at the airport in his sneakers and my friends and I discussed and sized him up at 6ft,in amazement.Plant mightve been 6-2 in his youth, but why did he tell me 6-1? and how do explain him looking 5-11 in my recent pic? you guys need to study footwear more and understand posture more.Page has horrible posture and wore flats.Plant wore crazy heels and had better posture.I have Stallone posture.
Bluto said on 22/Jul/06
Watch the concert footage on the LZ double DVD set. He towers over Page and looks about 6'3".
Glenn said on 28/Jun/06
Not true.my friend claimed 5-10.5,and 13 years ago did kind of look it.now at the age of 41,looks 5-8.5,5-9.weight gain and weight lifting gave him this appearence,I think.
Ramiro said on 28/Jun/06
Rob explains it very well at the top, Plant perhaps was 6'1'' at his peak but now he lost about 1.5 inches and is under 6 feet. When you look at him beside Tom Jones, who is 5'10'' or 5'10.5'' Plant looks in the 5'11'' range. That's a great and exhaustive explanation. Nobody can be mislead reading Rob's explanation.
Ramiro said on 28/Jun/06
Sorry, I make a mistake, 1.5 inches would be 3.81 cm, and 1 inch would be 2.54 cm. I still think that is is too much for a 57 years old man. No way for a man in his 30s for losing 1 inch unless serious and rare diseases. Perhaps in the "english" world 1 inch means little difference but here in Spain we use the more accurate, in my humble opinion, metric system and 1 inch is a BIG difference. Even 0.5 inches is quite noticeable (1.27 cm). To see pictures or pics is a very bad system to measure heights and here it seems like if everyone could give the exact height of a man only watching at the man or looking at a picture forgeting all the factors that distort the appreciation of the human eye visually and physically.
Glenn said on 27/Jun/06
YOU, think twice Ramiro.the man is near 60 and your telling me thats too young to lose height? I have friends in their late 30s that lost an inch.and to put 5-11 down would make people think he was always 5-11.the man is now a hair under 6ft actually, not 5-11.and 6ft on the nose in 2001 and 6-1 in early 90s.I have 5 photos with him since 1993.I see him enough, and saw him 3 days ago.
Ramiro said on 27/Jun/06
Misleading? I think that Rob is absolutely correct. Plant said he was 6'1'' but then he looked more in the 5'11'' range, so it is correct to put the peak height and an explanation about current height. And as I've said before I think that his current height is not far from his peak height, he is too young to lose that height (more than 1 inch or at least 1 inch, 5.08 cm!!!). Please, think twice what you're saying.
Ramiro said on 27/Jun/06
If he is under 6' now it is impossible that he were even 6'1'' before. That would be a big difference and he is still too young to lose that height. It is very difficult to appreciate exact height only seeing the man, there are a lot of factors that distort the appreciation including the fact that he is wearing footwear, the probability of wearing lifts, the impact of the myth, the errable human eye.....
Glenn said on 26/Jun/06
Thanks Rob.but in his case,he truly was 6-1.5-11 is misleading.
Anthony said on 26/Jun/06
One thing is for sure, the Tall Cool One has definitely filled out as far as girth goes. He's definitely below 6' today. 5'11 seems about right.
Glenn said on 26/Jun/06
true.some people are wrong on their height.I would say he couldve been 6-2.but looking at that pic of him and I from last year,he was looking under 6ft.so the 6-1 claim makes sense.maybe it was more 6-4,but yes,it was huge heels.
Anonymous said on 25/Jun/06
He's filled out a lot since his younger days like most of us I suppose. This makes him look shorter. I always thought Bonham was a tall guy, well over 6ft.
J. said on 25/Jun/06
You should put 6'1" for peak height and 5'11" for current height.

Editor Rob
well, I was doing a favor for Glenn and let slip current height and just leave him at what plant has said...
Anthony said on 24/Jun/06
"Plant looked 6-5!"

He must have been wearing some pair of boots that night. I alway saw 6'3 when I watched "The Song Remains The Same" and the dvd set they released about three years ago.

I'm not doubting your 6'1 claim, BTW. I'm just saying there's a chance he might have been a strong 6'1. I doubt most people would be hung up on half an inch. My dad always claims he's 5'8 when I personally think he's 5'8 1/2.
Viper652 said on 24/Jun/06
6-1 peak sounds right.
Glenn said on 24/Jun/06
Plant looked 6-5! this one night, with high heels.you will see the pic one day.like I said,I repeat,Plant told me 6-1.
Anthony said on 22/Jun/06
I still think there's a small chance he may have been a tad higher. I think he might have been closer to 6'2 barefoot, like 6'1 1/2 - 6'1 1/4. I now think that anything over 6'2 is pushing it a bit (6'4 is ludicrous, he's not THAT tall). As I've said, Plant was a thin guy, so boots or heels could easily make someone is hight range like a little over an inch taller. Out of rock's most popular frontman (Ozzy, Daltrey, Freddie Mercury, Jagger, Jim Morrison and Plant), Plant is defintiely the tallest.
Ramiro said on 22/Jun/06
Plant always wore tremendous high heels, that's the main reason for looking so tall. If himself said that he is 6'1'' this is the highest height for him because nobody tells he is less height than real and less a man who tried to look even taller than he really was. He could have shrunk but only very very few, he's only 57 years old today, too early for a big loss of height. Believe me, I've checked specialized medical documents and the loss of tall on third age is about 1 cm (less than 1/2 inch) each 10 years unless you have serious and rare diseases that affect bones, especially spine.
Anthony said on 21/Jun/06
Bonham was pretty girthy. I think he was just a tad over 6', but appeared shorter because he was heavier set than the other members. People who are heavier set also tend to have weaker postures, which could've also given him a shorter appearance as well.

And I'm really starting to agree that Plant was probably a little less than 6'2 during his younger days. I watched my Zeppelin dvd the other day, and Plant still does look 6'3, but I've taken acount two factors: one is his footwear of course, and the other is his build. plant was a pretty rhin guy, Not scrawny, but pretty lean. Put a lean man who's just a tad over 6'1 and he'd look 6'2 - 6'3 easily. I'm not entirely giving up my theory he was closer to 6'3 when he was younger (Glenn said he looked 6'1 - 6'3 when he met him in 1993) but I am starting to second guess it. Worst case scenario is that he was about 6'1 1/4 or 3/4 in his prime, had shrunk a bit to a solid 6'1 when Glenn first met him and was a weak 6' (not quite there but still close) when Glenn met him again.
Glenn said on 26/May/06
For sure lost 2 inches.but for those who dont know any better, and most dont, putting 5-11 will make people think he was always 5-11.
Glenn said on 25/May/06
Again for the 4th time without sounding snotty,he told me 6-1.ok,he's 5-11 now.to put that on top of the page is misleading however.

Editor Rob
maybe he's currently not as low as 180cm, but a tad more, shrinking 2 inches by late 50's would be more extreme, but the peak thing is listed 6ft 1 as he told you...but I think this guy has lost something.
Led said on 24/May/06
I think he is 5'11''. If you look at the picture, he is not much taller than glenn, whos 5'8'', and rob is wearing runnign shoes, my running shoes give me 1 extra inch, plus glenn is bending a little to the left, wich takes some height away. And also you should remember his high hills boots that he always wore in concerts. I'm not trying to diminish the guy, i'm a huge led zeppelin fan, but i think people try to make him taller than he really is. Another factor is, my dad is 5'10'', and im 5'9'' and in pictures he looks much taller than me.
Anthony said on 20/May/06
Whoever put Plant's peak height as 6'0 1/2 must change it. Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band, and I like to get my hands on whatever footage I can find of them. I have two concert dvds of them, and I must say that in his prime, Robert Plant was a solid 6'2, possibly 6'2 1/2. He definitely had a few inches on Page, he was clearly taller than John Paul Jones and John Bonham, the guy was just very tall. It's possible that he's lost a few inches over the years, but there's no denying that in his peak he was about 6'2. 6'4 is a bit of an exaggeration. I'd buy anywhere from 6'2 to 6'3, nothing taller. Still, the fact of a matter is, when he was younger, he was well over 6', surprisingly one of the few rock stars who are / were.
Glenn said on 13/May/06
Its actually dressy, casual boots.yeah,I wish it was updated more often.but Rob has multiple duties.
Glenn said on 10/May/06
I never said he was 5-11.I dont edit the site.only contribute pics.he told me himself,he was 6-1.I saw him look 6-5 in heels first time I met him.he did shrink for sure.look at the pic to the right.Im 5-8.
Gigantism C said on 8/May/06
dude, Glenn, you should change that. Plant is not 5'11''. It seems like you're being overly skeptical. The guy is at least over six foot. Give him real credit.
Editor Rob said on 27/Apr/06
Glenn, the 1993 Spin Magazine did say this:
"Plant’s six-foot-four frame makes him appear larger than life in the dressing room. Onstage...plant assumes something closer to Twin Tower proportions"
Mike Wong said on 14/Apr/06
I am 6"2. I met him in the 90's and he was almost as tall as me and he appeared to be wearing flat sandals, I met him more recently and he looked shorter this time with a heel? I am 47 years of age and last time I checked I am the same height.
Mikex said on 28/Mar/06
I think Tom has a tendency to boost his height with boots.
Glenn said on 22/Mar/06
Well I saw 6-4 in 1993,so your not far off.in boots though.
Heidi said on 21/Mar/06
Look - I saw him in 1988 in Greensboro, NC and I swear he was 6'6" if he was anything. "Tall Cool One"???? Ring any bells out there? I can't confirm these pictures posted here - I just know what I saw. Sure, alcohol was involved. He may possibly have also been on some type of "stage". Not sure. He was either playing with little people, or he's 6'6".
Mike said on 31/Jan/06
Hmm, strange... he always struck me as being very tall. It's certainly possible that he lost a couple of inches. He was involved in a serious car crash in 1975 and was badly injured so maybe that had something to do with it? But he was listed in a magazine as 5-11.5 in 1969 so that could be his true height. He had a penchant for boots so might have appeared taller than he really was...
Glenn said on 15/Jan/06
I funny enough asked him in 1994 about his height and he said 6-1.bumped into him 6 months ago,and your right,he looked 5-11.he shrunk.
Tubbs said on 14/Jan/06
Well he looks 6ftish in that picture, but I met him about 2 years ago at a football match, and he seemed in the 5'11 range. What also confused me when I told a mate about this was that he had also met him years ago in Kidderminster, and he said he was about 6'2". Something to do with his footwear maybe? I dont know, what I can say about him though is he was a really down to earth guy, and was happy to speak to me, I should've asked him how tall he was!
mcfan said on 29/Dec/05
Robert Plant only claimed to be 6ft during Zep days so it's no surprise to see he's lost .05 -- 1.0 inches. Not to sound like a broken record, but he was two inches taller than McCartney in Rockpile's "Little Sister" video.
Mikex said on 26/Dec/05
I always thought he was over 6ft. John Bonham was supposed to be 6'3'' and in photos Plant seems almost as big.
Gramps said on 3/Dec/05
I attended my 40-year high school reunion last summer and was shocked to meet an old friend who was about 6'2" in school, but had shrunk to about 5'10". Maybe he had other "issues" too, because I have only shrunk about 1/4" in 40 years.
Glenn said on 3/Dec/05
I asked him and he said 6-1.though I bumped into him 6 months ago and he did appear 5-11.hmm.he always looked 6-1 to 6-3 to me in the early 90's when I met him.
Chris said on 20/Oct/05
Yeah, that is probebly correct, but when he preformed on the tonight show, he looked like 6 ft2. I noticed he wore boots with high heel.
