Just watched Talk of the Town. Colman looked at least 3 inches shorter than a young Lloyd Bridges - 5'11 3/4" on this site. Also noticeably shorter than Cary Grant. 5' 9" max.

He was 5'11" tall and 165lbs in weight. He is 3-4 inches shorter than 6'2.5"basil rathone. He looks 6' with C aubrey smith and 5'11" with david niven and basil rathbone.

In LOST HORIZON, he's the same height as Jane Wyatt when they are at a distance.
Close up, he's walking beside her on an elevated path to look taller.
In any of his movies in any scene, he's the shortest.

Well, Steve, you're shrinking Boyer an inch from Rob's listing and he's closer to the camera than Colman. I would say that Colman doesn't always look a proper 5'10" but 5'8" is too of a downgrade IMO.

Remember that camera tricks were pulled.

A 5 ft 8 Coleman would put Greer Garson at a weak 5 ft 4 and Walter Pidgeon barely over the 6' mark!!
Steve said on 7/Dec/14
Coleman was no more than 5'8". There is a photo of him on the set of Lost Horizon with Sam Jaffe who was aound 5'10". Jaffe is visibly taller.

Finally got around to watching A Double Life. I highly recommend it for anybody who likes this guy as an actor. Played the murdering actor with a lot of intensity, well worth his Oscar win. Always looked 5 ft 10 to me.
Arch Stanton said on 21/Nov/14
Well in Random Harvest he did look an easy 5 ft 10 next to Garson.
Arch Stanton said on 21/Nov/14
Yeah that's a great film Gonzalo. Especially as it had Greer Garson in it ;-)

That Zenda photo is a terrible angle though Sam with advantage to Massey. I saw the film only last week and Colman looked at least 5'10 next to Niven and Aubrey. I'm getting the DVD of Double Life which I'll be watching soon. I suppose anything in the 177-78 range is arguable.

The films mentioned above are great (haven´t seen Bulldog Drummond). The Talk of the town was another excellent film, with Jean Arthur and Cary Grant. Grant looked taller than Colman by at least three inches.

Random harvest is one of the summits of romantic films. The way he acts in the scene where he goes back to his old house (by the end of the movie) should be shown in acting schools. And the perseverance of Greer Garson in her character was amazing. Very beautiful film.

Nice one! But I could see a fraction under the 5'10" mark for him.

I could see a 5'9.5" listing as better although he looks more a weak 5'10" usually rather than 5'9" range.

Nice one, yeah he looked a clear 5 ft 10 next to Niven and Aubrey.
