Maybe she's shrunk from her peak height now. I've given her 5ft 6.5in.

I have seen Sheila interviewed many times, mainly in tribute programmes to her husband, the unforgettable John Thaw.
In these, she was, of course, sitting down, so I couldn't take in her height. What I did take in, though, was that she was friendly, charming and humorous.
Then I saw her playing a really controversial part and I thought "Fabulous! This woman's got balls!"
She played a gay woman outcast who befriends another of society's misfits! It is a very enjoyable story and I am going to have to try and find out what it's called because it is worth seeing again.
Now in that play, I was surprised to see how tall she was. I never saw her in her other programmes! She could have been nearly as tall as John, who as 'Inspector Morse', never looked more than 5ft8 - 8.5. I shall go with 5ft7.5 for Sheila.

I would say more around 5ft 6 now, always looked taller than her hubby in her heels back in the day
