🎁🎂🎶🎈 Happy Birthday Thom! 🎈🎶🎂🎁
Wishing Radiohead singer Thom Yorke a very happy 52nd Birthday.

I was listening to a Yorke song the other day and some guy told me to turn off the song, because it made him feel depressed.
I wonder if Yorke considers his height to be an "inspiration" for the music he makes.
Nik said on 27/Jan/20
It's a shame that there isn't a picture of him on his page.
Alison said on 14/Dec/17
I met them all in the 90's all of them are nice . X
Sandy Cowell said on 1/Dec/16
My boyfriend got me into the band Radiohead and told me the singer was 'little!' He certainly is, but he looks more than a little smashed if this picture is anything to go by!
mande2013 said on 10/Apr/16
Perhaps it would be most accurate to suggest Yorke and Greenwood are like Lennon/McCartney or Jagger/Richards.
Sam said on 21/Oct/15
Yorke is the primary songwriter, so to say Greenwood is the real brains is a bit reductive...Yorke the composer, Greenwood's the conductor.

@Arch Stanton AGREED 100%
Arch Stanton said on 22/Dec/14
Nah, Jonny Greenwood is the real brains behind Radiohead. He's a top notch composer to boot in his own right and I believe is involved with classical orchestras. A pity that Radiohead tend to keep producing electronic music though, it would be nice for a change if they varied it. I was a big fan up until mid 2000s when their music seemed to get stuck in that mold. Kid A had the jazz influence at least and although obscure it was the sort of album which really grows on you after a while.

he is a genius !
Nick said on 19/Jul/14
I had the chance to meet him. He came across to me like a really nice and down to earth guy, despite what many people say about him being a ego-centric hipster. Anyway, I'm 5' 7" on the dot measured in late afternoon and we were eye to eye. He didn't look like a terribly short guy to me
Frank said on 17/Jul/14
181cm for Jonny is right?
Sam said on 24/Sep/13
I think he would be around the same stature as Ringo Starr, Ben Stiller and Buster Keaton, as a few random examples.
Aerocobbler said on 16/Jul/13
Wouldn't 5'5. 5 be 167cm?
Esperance said on 31/Dec/12
Their height has nothing to do with their musical ability. And nobody is attributing any 'limitations' to people's heights, people are just interested in debating and discussing. No-one is saying their is a problem that Thom Yorke is 5ft 5, people are just curious.
truth said on 26/Aug/12
thom 5ft5, phil 5ft8, jonny 5ft11, colin 5ft7, ed 6ft5.

I must say not all of the best musicians were or are short, but probably, the ones who changed history were, or at least they were "normal height", such as: Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, all of the Rolling Stones, Bob dylan, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, Eddie Vedder, Jeff Buckley, Kurt Cobain, Thom Yorke, Michael Jackson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elliot Smith, John Fogerty, Elton John... I mean, there is a big list, but really, doesn't matter, you don't have to get to the sky to get to heaven.
MsKitty said on 23/Apr/11
@Shaun...I have to argue with you on that one...MANY of the best rock stards are short...John Lennon and Paul McCartney-not short...Neil Young-not short...if you like newer or heavier stuff, Rob Zombie-not short...James Hetfield-not short...the list goes on. But yes, I agree that many big voices in rock are short fellas...and yes, some of the best. But you can never say ALL. Btw, Thom Yorke is brilliant no matter how tall he is...guys like him transcend the "limitations" of height.
littlesue said on 22/Apr/11
I'd agree with this!! Kelly Jones of the Sterophonics, James Dean Bradfield of the Manics, Bruce Dickinson, Brian Johnson, Dio, the list is endless!!
Shaun said on 21/Apr/11
All of the best rock stars are short. Fact.
Simon said on 30/Mar/11
@Danny - Yep, that's what I've read too but comparing Colin to Thom, I would not rate him that high. Then again, I have only pictures and video to go from
Danny said on 11/Feb/11
@Simon, I've heard 5' 8" for Colin Greenwood.
Simon said on 7/Feb/11
How tall would you rate Colin Greenwood? I've seen him listed at 174 cm but there are several scenes in 'Meeting People Is Easy' where he stands directly next to Thom and looks to be either the same height or barely taller. Any opinions?
Kelvin said on 2/Feb/11
nobody should care how tall Thom Yorke is okay u listen to music to escape and enter a world that really isn't there radiohead is a great band and Marcus don't call him a shrimp he is a great artist that paints a very vivid picture oh and also i am 15 and i am about 5'2'.
Veronica said on 22/Dec/10
I had him standing in front of me (at a distance of a feet apart) for at least five minutes, I would say he is no taller than 5.4, but believe me, his sole presence adds him a lot more inches...
MD said on 13/Dec/10
Really, Jamal, STFU. Sorry to be so harsh, but it's posts like yours that totally don't deserve any kind of posting.
Jamal said on 12/Dec/10
This guy is definitely at least 6 feet tall. I met him at a pub in NYC.
Elle said on 20/Dec/08
I am sure he is not that tall, I met them in 2001 and he looked no more than 5.3
maurison said on 5/May/08
Thom is 5'6 i met raiohead when they went to jools holland we talked and they singed some pics i asked them if i could take a pic of all of us together but they refused, anyways other than that they are great guys
btw I'm 5'8 and Thom seemed 2 inches shorter than me
glenn said on 5/Sep/07
i read 5-11 and 6ft for gahan.for years i thought and saw 5-9 when i would meet him.upon further examination,i realise he is indeed 5-10.its a slouch that does him wrong.so way in hell is he taller though.
The crowns said on 4/Sep/07
Hi how about Dave Gahan, i'm sure he is no more than 5'9", maybe 5'8" but he's listed 5'11"...why he isn't in theis site?
Franco said on 30/Aug/07
i love Radiohead, but Thom is definetely in the 5'5 range so yes 165-166cm is right.
glenn said on 5/Jun/07
thom york, after he got famous,as with loads others,(billy corgan 6-2) has a phobia with cameras and wont pose with people.he told me if a flash goes off he is gone.but both he and corgan were hams for the camera in the early years.and thom seemed more 5-4ish to me.like eddie vedder(5-7 or 5-8),who i saw a happy ham, become a phony depressed person reflecting on issues when their debut got bigger.please.a digusting act.
radio_man said on 5/Jun/07
that's great man you're so lucky! but I think phil is less than 176 he seem short and colin I think he's 170 and phil 173!
Anonymous said on 5/May/07
Yeah Vibram, those heights seem pretty good. radio_man met them before and after a show in 2004, all very nice (surprised that thom was becuase a freind met him earlier in the day by chance at an aquarium and he was quite dismissive)
Anyhow these are the heights as I could gauge, was wearing all stars at the time so this may affect my judgement + I was younger and was more like 184cm so this may effect my perception of back then.
thom: 164, Phil 176, Colin 172, Jonny 180, Ed 194
Vibram said on 22/Apr/07
Well, I've looked at 50 or so photographs, and read a few things including the making of the 1995 "Fake Plastic Trees" video, which said: "Ed is tall, around 6'5, the other band members are below 6ft."
Thom: 166cm Colin: 174; Phil: 176; Johnny: 181; Ed: 195.
radio_man said on 29/Mar/07
glenn..did you meet him? or see him in some live show?
glenn said on 26/Mar/07
thom is more 5-4ish.
radio_man said on 25/Mar/07
you met them?!!! how when??, you're so lucky, I always thought that ed was hudeg and thom about 5'5 but colin its just a bit taller than Thom.. or not??..
and jonny seems like 5'11 to me too..
ekj said on 8/Mar/07
having met all them but colin, have to say Thom is 5'5 to 5'6 (a little guy with a really big head), Phil is a little over 5'9, Ed is huge I'm 186cm and he was signifacntly taller than me probably 6'4.5 to 6'5, Jonny was surprisingly taller than i expected probably 5'11 and a bit. Would say from photo's colin is round 5'8
Glenn said on 4/Nov/06
Thom is 5-5 tops.looking 5-4 sometimes in the flesh.
Matt said on 4/Nov/06
J, I really don't agree that he "likes big boots." I've seen him usually in converse shoes and the like. You'd do well to actually prove that Yorke is insecure about his height.
antron said on 6/Oct/06
As a short guy myself (170cm in the morning), I love how many short/shortish band front-men there are. It helps that most of them are superbly talented. (Billy Joe Armstrong, Anthony Keidis, Kurt Cobain come to mind)
Lmeister said on 14/Aug/06
It is pretty awesome how they make him look taller in the band pics. In most of the pics he looks from 5'8'' to 5'9''.
Simon said on 14/Jul/06
Speaking of Radiohead, does anybody know how tall Colin Greenwood and Phil Selway are?
cendrin rovin said on 3/Mar/06
...rob, this height must be changed... he was listed as 163cm in short persons support, now 165cm and they dont trick people there... and glenn said it too, hes about 5 4, or a bit more...
Glenn said on 15/Jan/06
my bottom.he is 5-4,5-5.and photo phobic.gahan claims he is 5-11,6 feet.gahan is 5-9.
DB said on 8/Dec/05
He said to Spin magazine 2 years ago he was 5'5.5".
cendrin rovini said on 16/Nov/05
Hey Rob, what about Dave Gahan, singer for Depeche Mode. You have so many singers here, but not that one who is so famous. Always listed as 180cm, Im not sure if he is that tall.
cendrin rovini said on 9/Nov/05
In short persons support he was listed as 163cm. Sometimes he looks very very short, sometimes like 5 7. But he's soo talented, pure cure for everyone who feels worthless cos he's little. He had an affair with Michael Stipe? I always thought he'd be straight to girls, greetz from germany.
J. said on 27/May/05
This height is way too high. Many Radiohead sources list Thom as 5'5" and that seems more accurate. Like many tiny rockers, he likes big boots.
glastonburied said on 27/May/05
I met thom at the trade march at westminister on April 15th. He's diddy kong! about an inch taller than me (i'm 5'5") bless his little cottons!
