Jeff - I reckon 5-4 is correct. I have a pic on my phone of me and him before a show - with his arm round me! He had big boots on and there is no way he is 5-5 or above (which may explain Julies encounter). One of my sisters is 5-5 and is bigger next to me than Kelly was. However, as he is so great I think it is ok to list him as slightly bigger!! Richard Jones was pretty massive.

I met him in Toronto a few years back. I am 5'10" and I towered over him wearing regular shoes. We were having a conversation and I was directly in front of him. I would say 5'4" at the very most. There's no chance that he is any taller than that. Josephine says on 12/Jul/08

I recently met the Stereophonics in Norwich when they cancelled their gig as Kelly was ill :( I stood next to all of them chatting and for pictures etc for ages - such nice guys! Anyhow, I was in flip flops (v.thin sole) and could not believe how tiny Kelly was - i'm 5'8 and he was tiny next to me, even in the big thick soled boots he had on (as always)! My sis is about 5'3 - 5'4 and was pretty much the same height as him. Not that height matters, the guy is a legend regardless, but there is no way he is 5'6 - i'd say 5'4 max. Its true, the new drummer is even smaller hehe but Richard Jones is a pretty big guy and well built. I was at the James Taylor concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham last night and I swear I saw him in the bar before the show. He walked in and I did a double-take because I couldn't decide if it really was him - he was so petite! I knew he wasn't very tall but didn't realise he was so sleight as well. But yeah, not 5'5" by any stretch. I just keep thinking about when he was being interviewed by Jonathan Ross at Live 8 and he referred to 'little' Peter Doherty - oh, the irony of the man! Fabulous voice, an incredible talent, an astonishing band. But I have also seen him personally (within 3 feet on me for a prolonged period). And in all honesty, he is not even 5'5". He just isn't. (It proves that "Height isn't important, if height isn't relevant", and in the case of musicians it just isn't(for those heighists in doubt!). My honest estimate is 5'1", no really, honestly. He is an astonishing performer that I have paid and will pay very good money to see, but he is a quite tiny person, in height and also in build. But who cares, this is a stunning, stunning performer and a member of an incredible band. I only posted because having seen him that close for so long, there is no point in pretending he is 5-5. The Who did a concert at Royal Albert Hall about 5 years ago with other bands and singers making cameos with the Who. Daltrey introduced Kelly Jones who had to readjust the microphone down a couple of inches after Daltrey had used it. Daltrey smiled and said,"It's great 'cause he's shorter than me!"
