Well, Ken Kirzinger looked 6'7" in Jason Voorhees, even if he wore special boots or elevator shoes, he couldn't push 6'8" in my opinion. Alex says on 15/Feb/09
Ed, yea he did look 6'10-7'0 in some shots. Was this 3 inches of lift or 3 inches added to his height because 3 inch heels wont give a full 3 inches, more 2-2.5 inches.
Now the shortest Jason was Steve Dash I believe. Warington Gillete only played Jason in the window scene at the end of part 2. Dash looked 6'0 max and likely more around 5'11 I think. John says on 14/Feb/09

Kirzinger did where lifts in Freddy vs. Jason, and in the just released documentary His Name Was Jason he talks about them in his interview. He said they were around 3", and the director mentions them too, using his hands to demonstrate how big they were. So Kirzinger was around 6ft8 in FVJ, and with certain steep angles like in the cornfield scene he does look near 7ft.
Aside from mentioning that in the doc, there's no reference to the varying sizes of the different Jasons over the years. The do interviews with all the guys who played him, but they are pretty short, maybe 2 minutes each. Haze says on 14/Nov/08

SJ, Kirzinger played the cook in Part 8 which I've seen numerous times. He comes out from behind the counter in the diner to face off against Hodder, who throws him over the bar. When he comes out you see he has normal shoes on and is not standing perfectly straight and he has a good 2-3 inches on Hodder. I remember as a kid being more impressed w/the huge cook than Jason in that movie. It was the first time I've really seen Jason look outsized. In normal shoes he'd be about 6ft6 plus, compared to Kane standing close to 6ft4 in his big heeled Jason boots. S.J says on 15/Mar/07

Just read an interview w/Brad Loree the guy who played Michael Myers in part 8. Anyways he's a godd friend of Kirzinger's, and he was originally up for the role of Jason in FVJ, but Ronny Yu the director thought he was too short at 6ft2.5 for the role. Yu was looking for guys that were near 6ft7, and apparently that coupled w/the fact that Ken had Jason experience in Part 8 as Kane's double(which explains why Jason looks so tall in diff. scenes)he was chosen. So the guy lists 6ft5, but I'm wondering if he rounds down a bit to get more work. I'm sure at times 6ft7 is wanted, but maybe he says 6ft5 to make sure he's not passed up for a slightly smaller guy, just a theory considering Loree describes him at 6ft7 as does Canada Mike and Aussie Bloke who said he looked huge at the premiere. I thought he looked 6ft6 at least as the cook in part 8, and in FVJ he looks massive. Alex says on 4/Jan/07

If you guys saw the press conference on the Freddy vs Jason DVD when Freddy and Jason have a staredown, Jason has him by 9-10 inches. Freddy is wearing boots while Jason's boots are obviously bigger. Ken is 6'5, maybe 6'5.5 and he looks like 6'8 in them. Canada Mike says on 29/Sep/06
I grew up with Ken from a young age, haven't seen him for a couple of years though, and we measured each other when we were around 16-17. He was right on 6ft7, WITHOUT A DOUBT! I was at 6ft1 and he absolutely towered over me. Maybe he stopped growing in his mid-late teens, and has shrunk a couple of inches, but I swear, this dude was 6ft7 when he was around 16-17 Alex says on 4/Jun/06
Jason while you're on the this page what do you peg this guy at? 6'5-6'5.5 most would say. On my Freddy vs Jason DVD they have a press conference on the extras and they both have a face off and Jason is just a good 9 inches taller. Also if you look at Ken's heels they are a good 2 inches, maybe 2.5 inches of height he got going on there. Hes def 6'5-6'5.5 in his barefeet though. Jason says on 2/Jun/06

I wonder how big his boots were in Freddy vs Jason? 6'5-6'5, whichever he is. The boots must have been at least 2 inches whether it was on the inner of the boot or outter. I think he had a 1-1.5 inch heel with a 1 inch lift inside making him 2-2.5 inches taller and hes already 6'5-6'5.5 so he was def 6'7-6'7.5 in those boots. Alex says on 6/Apr/06

But also like you said Ken said he wore boots 2-2.5 inches putting him at 6'7.5. He is already 8 inches taller than Robert England, plus the bigger boots he had on and the camera angles he did appear like 6'10. That scene in the cornfield Ed where he goes after the 2 kids where he snaps the kids neck and turns it totally around, Ken does look like 6'10 with that camera angle. Ed says on 28/Jan/06
I think he's around 5ft9 like you said, with boots with 1.5 inch heels. 5ft10.5 looks right for Freddy, no more though. There's a picture, or I should say a poster of Ken and Robert standing back to back in their costumes, and it's hilarious how tall Ken looks next to Robert. You can see how gigantic he really was in that film. On another note, I always thought Kane looked tall, especially when he was chasing the doctor through the woods in Part 7, and I remember thinking he looked like a giant. But, Ken really did look the tallest of any Jason by leaps and bounds. In the scene at the rave in the cornfield, in Freddy vs. Jason, he looked like he was 7ft tall. I know not for real, but with the camera angles he just was monstrous. Richard Booker I always thought was a really good Jason, and he looked really tall and lanky. Plus he had that clean,white, bald head, which was kind of creepy. It made him more human I guess, and not so much a zombie. Ed says on 18/Jan/06
He did say in interviews that he wore boots with large lifts to make him about 6ft7 maybe 6ft7.5. They wanted Jason to be really huge and intimidating in the new film. Kane just wasn't big enough! |
