Perfect height, perfect weight, perfect proportions. Most men at 6'1"-6'2" have enviable proportions.

first steroids came from the russian olympic team in late 50's.they took testosterone from the nutsack of bulls.the whole team had trouble even pissing beacause of it. dr zeigler came up with the first synthetic steroid dianobol. called the godfather of steroids.so all the haters who said reeves took steroids are full of it. his last title win was in 1950,years away from roids.and as far as growth hormone, the army was messing around with it in the 1930's.but it wasnt fully developed till the 50's to help kids grow who were smurfs. it wasnt even intended for muscle growth until the 60's. Reeves could NEVER have used steroids. First...because they were created in the late 30's, I believe and there was no way that they'd be available or AFFORDABLE to a farm kid from Montana who grew up in Oakland. Second...I knew Reeves and his word was his bond. He was a true "Man's man." His mother was way ahead of her time and raised him with a tremendous knowledge of nutrition. He was 6 ft 1 and had the habit of weighing himself every day. He ate mostly food that was grown on his farm and cycled and weight lifted till the end of his life. He the GREATEST bodybuilder the world has ever known (as well as a hell of an actor and he raised prize Morgan horses as well) and did it naturally. He wasn't ever a gym rat. He wortked hard, ate well, got lots've rest and was blessed with great genetics. A rare breed and sorely missed.

mark, technically testosterone is needed to be a lean 215 at 6'1", just not "extra". If someone is at the high end of the natural range that would be enough, but there is still testosterone there, just not pills or injections. Johnny G says on 31/Jul/09
to 6'5" guy - that Shep in Fargo spelled his name Reevis and was an American Indian not the Steve Reeves who played Hercules in the late 50's - Steve was a legit 6'1" - best built man of all-times NATURALLY - no steroids Anthony says on 30/Jun/09

re: Albert's supposed 1953 Mr Universe measurement of Reeves's height: Reeves last competiton was in 1950. While it's remotely possible that he was 'only' 6'.5" then, it's quite possible that after 1950/24yrsold, he grew another .05". Many healthy males don't reach their full height until 28. mark says on 15/Apr/09
Reeves, at 6'1", competed at 215 lbs, nicely defined, but not -nearly- in the 'shredded' condition common today. A 5'6" top modern BBer weighs way more than Reeves ever did, and is leaner. Why would anyone think testosterone is needed to weigh a moderately-lean 215 at over six feet tall?. Nonsense. Look at today's top men when they were drug-free teen novices: Many of them already had the mass of a Steve Reeves, if not the perfect proportions. THEN they started drugs. About his height i think that 6,1 is a good estimate.
About his bodybuilding carreer: Steeve Reeves USED steroids.Anabolic steroids were first isolated, identified and synthesized in the 1930s.
@Danny Dio: Anabolic steroids are defined as synthetic derivatives of testosterone. Most anabolic steroids are derived from the roots of a plant named "sarsaparilla mexicana". So testosterone is an anabolic steroid, that makes Steeve Reeves a steroid user.
@Bad Radio: from your words i note that your knowledge of steroids and sport drugs is very limited. Creatine is a LEGAL and natural substance used by almost all athletes all over the world, and most of all is also produced by our body. Some people do not need creatine because of their abundant endogenous production. 6'5guy says on 24/Nov/07

I have met him several times...amazing guy...very charismatic. He is definately 6'1. He was a natural bodybuilder. He trained in the forties when steriods, prohormones, testosterone boosters and creatine weren't around. He was and still is the greatest bodybuilder !! Brad says on 10/Mar/07
Shrunk a few by the time I saw him a year or two before he died at Ray Courts' show. Dannny Dio says on 26/Jan/07
6-6'1 sounds true. Based on eyewitness testimony, 6'1" sounds right which is how he was billed in his bodybuilding days. Off topic here, Reeves is often acclaimed as a great natural bodybuilder. This I doubt, myself as although he was steroid free, he probably did use Testosterone. drake says on 15/Apr/06
I saw Steve Reeves when he was about 55. He was 6'1" then. |
