I'm sitting in my porch feeding my foxes and so far, I have counted four. It's so cold that one of them has a cough. They have a mixture of dog and cat food, with chocolate biscuits for afters, so there is an amusing crunching sound. 🍪

The Friday before last, I took my cat, Pixie, to the vet as he's been overgrooming. Before my name was called, a huge black dog and his owner came out of the consultation room. I said, "What a huge fox you have there!" The pet owners present in the waiting room laughed.

Actually, the dog was a jet black German shepherd, and was as fox-shaped as any fox I've ever seen, only the wrong colour. 🦊🖤

Terry gets 6ft2. 🐿️🌰

A giant owl 🦉, not seen anywhere for 150 years, has been spotted in Ghana by British scientists.

The owl is called the Eagle Owl for obvious reasons, and has dark plumage, a pale beak and black eyes. The scientists' jaws literally dropped and they copped a particularly good look at him as he was perched on a low branch before he flew off.

Terry would have been SO excited at this incredible find, bless him!

Mmkay! I've seen no evidence of Terry ever saying he was more than 6ft2, and I've done a fair amount of hunting around.

I think 6ft2¼ peak is reasonable since he's claimed 6ft2 and 6ft2½, today probably still over 6ft by how much is the question? Can still 6ft1 in some photos and barely over 6ft in others

I saw Heseltine up close in 2019 when he would have been 86 and I thought he looked 6ft-6ft0.5. So somewhere in 6ft2 or 6ft2.5 range prime is believable.

I had a lovely article on my phone today about foxes mixing with hedgehogs in our own gardens.

I have had limited viewings of hedgehogs during my lifetime, but I recall an incident one night when I went for a bracing walk at 2 in the morning back in 1983.

I was approaching my road on the way home when I saw a hedgehog slowly crossing the road. I wrapped him in my jumper and carried him into someone's garden, leaving a note. Unfortunately, I've seen more hedgehogs in roads who have been hit by cars than seeing the little fellows just wandering about. At that time, there was no internet, so I couldn't check out their diets, but I knew they drink milk, so I went home and brought him back a saucerful of the simple liquid mammalian basic food drink and he lapped it up!

No, it’s definitely an honest admission but nothing less than that though. More likely 188-189cm range than 187cm I think. A good 2in on Chris Packham (decent 6ft).

Definitely could give a 6ft3 impression. He looks like a cross between Michael McKean and Brion James, height wise obviously much closer to Brion

The other night, I was listening to music and watching my local friendly foxes, with an owl hooting in a tree, and little did I know that Terry's page was in the making. He'd have loved the scene!

I don't believe it! We have wildlife expert, Terry Nutkins! 🌰🐿️

I was watching him on morning TV a few months back, and I thought, "He's tall!"

Then I checked out his height, as I could see he was very tall, but then I had a horrible shock. Terry, always one of my favourite conservationists, passed away in 2012, aged 66. 😢

He was such a likeable fellow, and always very friendly and passionate about animals.

I have no doubt whatsoever that he was all of 6ft2.
