@baldwin Thanks. I appreciate it. I did find it awhile back though. He's claiming shoe height, obviously, which I have no issue with.
baldwin said on 17/Jan/23
@Shane Gray: yeah sorry i responded so late but he claimed 6’5 “on a great day “ at the 22:00 mark of the video.

@Canson, yes, we now have a blend of barefoot heights, shoe heights and barefoot plus an inch. So it's more confusing and less consistent now. At least before, we knew 95% or so of listings were in shoes. Hopefully we are slowly going back to the old way. Did you see my preferred solution the other day on another page? I say the NBA start using playing height rosters. For example, Miami Heat playing height roster. And then they can send official barefoot heights to Vegas. Allegedly, this was why the policy of a couple years ago was put in place, but that was always bogus. Either way though, that would give Vegas those numbers and have a consistent standard for rosters that would be consistent with the last 40+ years (minus the last couple) and one that would please the players too, most of whom have hated the listings the last couple years. What do you think?
Canson said on 22/Nov/22
@Shane: I would rather have one or the other, I agree. The listings here are not consistent at all. They list Jordan Nwora at 6’8 when he measured 6’5.75” same with Thaddeus Young. Young May have grown but there are a lot of others where they just knocked 1” off shoe heights when they are nowhere near it. Jimmy Butler is another example. I don’t know why they bumped him to 6’8 the first season in Minnesota but 6’7 was fine before. Chances are, he wakes up 6’6 max or a bit above and is a 6’5.5 guy or even lower later in the day. Meaning his nba listing should be 6’6” if they’re using barefoot heights but he was dropped from 6’8 to 6’7” which made no sense. He isn’t 6’7 if Adebayo is 6’9 (6’8.75 is what he actually measured)
Shane Gray said on 21/Nov/22
@Viper No, I hate them my friend. For one, nba heights were shoe heights for over 40 years, so changing that conduses height comparables considerably, especially for casual fans. Two, the players hate barefoot heights. They are still listed in shoes in high school, summer ball and college and most pros still consider their shoe heights the height that matters. Three, rosters have only gotten more confusing and less consistent now than before. Because now, instead of knowing almost everyone is a shoe height, you have some barefoot heights rounded up, many an inch above barefoot and quite a few shoe heights still mixed in. So its only confused the entire process. Many teams dislike the policy too, as well as fans and players. I'm not even sure the league policy is still in effect. If if it, it isn't enforced. I could give lots of examples of current shoe heights. Players play in shoes and I feel like playing height (in shoe) rosters are appropriate, less confusing, more consistent and makes historical comparisons regarding heights much simpler for most fans. Additionally, basketball is a game of supermen and height. In my opinion, taller listings capture the imagination of fans more. Finally, lots of American fans claim shoe heights, so they like seeing players listed in shoe heights as well.

Shane I can't believe you don't like the barefoot heights
Shane Gray said on 19/Nov/22
@Canson: correction. I have no doubt he's 6'5" in shoes early in day.
Shane Gray said on 17/Nov/22
@Canson yea he's listed 6'4" about everywhere. As you know, I hate non shoe heights for basketball. Most of the players hate them as well. I think he's probably near 6'5" in shoes early in day so I'd have no issue with it. Happy Thanksgiving brother.
Canson said on 16/Nov/22
@Shane: 6’4 is probably fair since it’s his shoe height. I can see him as a legit 6’3” barefoot
Shane Gray said on 15/Nov/22
@Baldwin that video is over an hour long lol. Could you please post what time he said that? He's simply claiming his shoe height, and rightfully so. He was listed that way his entire life until the trash nba policy went into effect a couple years ago, which should be ignored by all teams (If it in fact still exists.) Players despise it overall.
Shane Gray said on 15/Nov/22
Hea listed 6'4" mostly this year. Should be listed 6'5".

@Ice Cold: he can look 6’2.75-6’3.25 at times. He looks a bit taller than Westbrook who I think is 6’2.25 or 6’2.5”. He also looked taller than Wall by about an inch who I suspect is about 6’2”

Canson said on 27/Jan/22
6’3.75 out of bed
6’3 3/8 after an hour
6’3.25 after 2
6’3 1/8 after 5
6’3 afternoon height
Canson said on 24/Nov/21
@Shane: yea likely that he wanted the taller listing or that they measured him more 6’3 3/8 or so earlier in the day. Then again I did have a friend who thought he was 6’3.5 until he realized he was under 6’3 now a days (in his 60s now) and that Beal would
More than likely have a footwear advantage if he is in basketball shoes. He met him on the court I believe or was at minimum in gear. That lines up to 6’3 which I believe he is though. Rob probably has him listed right here imho for his afternoon height as a matter of fact although posture could be a different story. But I never ruled 6’2.75 out although 6’3 looks fine to me
Shane said on 13/Nov/21
@Canson pretty sure Beal probably pushed for this. I doubt he liked dropping 2 inches on the roster and some quotes he has made would support that notion. Most players hate the NBAs new policy. These guys have been listed in shoes since middle school.
Canson said on 11/Nov/21
@Shane: I bet he was 6’3.25-.5 and they rounded him. He does look more proper 6’3 than other guys. He’s taller than Westbrook too. I think 6’3 flat afternoon (tops) and 6’3.75 out of bed. Worst case he’s 1/8”
Lower on each
Canson said on 3/Nov/21
@Shane: true. Beal could have been earlier in the day and rounded to 6’4 from 6’3.5”
Shane said on 30/Oct/21
@canson I'm not sure if nba has relaxed the policy because most teams look like they have barefoot heights or close barefoot heights for vast majority of players, which I despise based on a 40 year standard and 40 years of comparables being all messed up. I see a few teams who seem to be relaxing things. A couple did last year. I won't name them here as I domt with to bring them any scrutiny.
Canson said on 22/Oct/21
@Editor Rob: I think the NBA has relaxed the policy (more than it already was in 2019 when they allegedly did the measurements) is what it really is. The heights should’ve remained the same. I mean do we really believe LeBron was measured 6’8.5? He wasn’t. That was a shoe measurement. I bet he was either measured 6’7.25 like he was when drafted or measured earlier in the day at 6’7.5” and given the inch for shoes. Doesn’t add up when Anthony Davis is 6’9.75 and has 2-3” on him. His pre Draft does add up with him though
Canson said on 21/Oct/21
NBA is starting to use shoe heights again. He’s listed at 6’4 now. Maybe it’s just when a new coach comes since Robert Williams III is now listed 6’9 (from 6’8)
Editor Rob
They should have done independent measurements, there's some heights which simply aren't adding up if they are supposed barefeet.
recapa said on 26/Sep/21
I see.
Canson said on 23/Sep/21
@Recapa: lol that’s actually what a friend of mine thought who met him that he was 6’3.5”. But my friend is 190 cm now a days (6’2.75-6’3 max) as opposed to 6’3” and Beal likely had some footwear advantage being in basketball sneaks. So chances are that they may be close. I do think Beal may have gained and don’t rule out 191 but I’d say perhaps he was rounded up to 6’3.25 morning and 6’2.75 or 6’2.5” in the afternoon when he was drafted and 6’3 flat today perhaps but could be 6’3 and a hair. Only thing is he looks shorter with Tatum

Here he is with Troy Brown Jr. TB measured 6’5.75” but not sure if that’s a low for him being a combine. He looks 2.5-3” taller imho being he’s favored. I will say Beal generally looks a solid 6’3 guy tho as opposed to the weak 6’3 he looked before

I’m not seeing how Beal is listed shorter than Wade.
Canson said on 21/May/21
@Viper: well he’s def not 6’9 like Beal claims being the Celtics kept him at 6’8”. He does look shorter than Lebron at times. I wonder if he fails to a weak 6’7” and the 6’7 5/8 was very early morning
viper said on 20/May/21
At times Tatum doesn't even look as tall as LeBron on the court.

He's absolutely no taller than 6-7
Canson said on 19/May/21
Tatum calls himself 6’8” I believe
Canson said on 19/May/21
@Editor Rob: here he is again saying he’s only 6’3” but there he is trying to inflate Jayson Tatum who I showed measured 6’7 5/8” before last season. I’m not even sure Tatum measures that at an afternoon height

Editor Rob
I'm not sure why he'd inflate Tatum...
Canson said on 21/Apr/21
@Editor Rob: how much do you see between Beal and Wall as well as Beal and Pierce? He can pass for 6’3 with a 6’6 Pierce. Maybe both guys fall 1/4” as you alluded to with Beal at 6’2.75” being worst possible case.

Editor Rob
seems a big 3 inches between paul/beal there, paul maybe has eyes up a bit making it seem more though...and Wall looks a 6ft 2 guy

@Junior: agreed. Not sure about Wall though. He may be 6’2”. Westbrook 6’2.25 like he was when drafted
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 14/Apr/21
John Wall and Westbrook were likely the same height between 6'2 1/8-1/4 and Beal isn't lower than 6'2.75" like Adam Silver.

Beal can seem a half inch taller there...however it is tricky as they could be moving and maybe not exactly the same distance away.

@Canson, and simon L, yeah, that Zach LaVine pic was indeed heavily tilted. Corrected here.

Bradley is clearly shorter than LaVine. Also, like Canson stated, it makes no sense Coby White and LaVine are both listed at 6'5.

I can see like 2in difference there. White could be slightly shorter than Beal. NBA listings are more like lottery nowadays lol 😂 😂 😂

How tall do you think Jordan Clarkson is? listed at 6´4, (originally 6´5) but looks 6´2 to 6´3 max. When he was on the Cavs, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson made him look tiny, and he only seemed a little bit taller than Darius Garland. He also apparently weighs 88kg but looks like a stick.

Weak 6’3” imho. 6’2.5-6’3 range

Hi Rob could you do a page for Devin Booker please, he measured 6ft4.5 barefoot at the draft combine in 2015 but I just don’t know if he really is and it’s hard to judge where his head really stops due to his hairstyle.
Canson said on 3/Feb/21
@Robbe: that’s probably the camera. And Levine is probably closer to 6’4” flat being 6’4.5 is earlier at the combine. As for Levine he’s now listed 6’5 this season after Billy Donovan arrived as opposed to 6’6 last year (after the supposed barefoot measurements) but you’re right he measured 6’4.5 so it should’ve been reduced last year not this year. I don’t get how Coby White is listed as tall as Levine when he isn’t but then again Kyle Kuzma only measured 6’8 flat and is listed 6’10 now when AD is listed 6’10 and is taller than him

@Junior: 6’2.75 is the lowest I’d argue like Rob also said. I’ve had people who’ve met him who thought he was over 6’3” but maybe because he had more footwear then. I really did think Beal grew a bit. I mean he looks taller than Dwayne Wade
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 1/Feb/21
@Canson

Beal might be 190cm since his draft measurement is 6'3.25". Wall i believe 6'2.25" a low is possible and might be spotted by people see him 6'1.75" because of footwear disadvantage maybe Wall had 0.5-0.6" converse and the guy 1" or more sneakers.

@Junior: Wall is more like 6’2.25 if he measured 6’2.75 early morning. I’ve heard people in the area who’ve met him say they would be surprised if he’s even 6’2” but if he is it’s max. That suggests 6’1.5-6’2 range. I do think 6’2 flat but SJH a former poster thought weak 6’2 too. Beal measured 6’3.25 but likely was 6’2.75. Not sure if he grew but someone I know who’s seen him said he thought Beal was taller than he was. He’s a tiny hair under 6’3 today. He figured Beal may have been his listing. To me he looks max 6’3” though and struggles a bit with Troy Brown

@Editor Rob: could you see him being just 6’2.75? That lines up to his morning pre draft in that case
Editor Rob
that would be lowest I thought he could appear, I still think about 6ft 3 is a fair mark

Beal struggles with 6’3” there but with Westbrook or Wall he looks the full 6’3”. Maybe Beal had us fooled and he didn’t really grow lol. Was 6’3.25 early morning when drafted (6’2.75 afternoon most likely). Maybe he was only 6’2 when drafted lol
