He’s listed at 6’0” again this season and not the 6’1 he was last year

If Donovan Mitchell is actually 6’0” CP is 5’10”. Ironically Paul had been called 5’10 before by a few In the NBA although I think he’s 5’11

Somewhere in the 5’11” range

@Animus: i didn’t see one with Fallon. He can look it at times but then with Harden who measured 6’4 (early morning) who is about 6’3.5, that looks a little more than 4”. I also have Curry at 6’1.5 and he looked just over 2” taller. Maybe 5’11.25 but I can’t see 5’11.5

That's fair, I respect yours too. You don't think he looks at least 5'11½ next to Fallon and certainly not 5'11?

Here Chris Paul is with Jimmy Fallon (who is listed as 5'11½ on this site): Click Here
I think it's clear that Paul is slightly taller than Fallon. Again, as I have stated before, there is substantial evidence from multiple situations with different people that Chris Paul is nearly six feet tall, more precisely he is a strong 182cm.

That photo with Kobe is tricky, because Kobe has the clear camera advantage. In general pictures up close of people who are vastly different in height are not that useful - it's better with a bit more distance to the camera.

In the photo with Anthony, Wade and Lebron, I don't think he looks below 5'11¾ (having also taken footwear into account).

If Chris went by his full name of Christopher Paul, he'd have one of each vowel in his name. How unusual is that? 🤔
Chris is tall, sure, but looks rather small next to the huge basketball players!

He can have a Christmas guess of 5ft11.75. 🏀⛹️🎄🎅

Paul with Wade (with less footwear than the others) Lebron (legs further apart) and 6’6.25 Melo. Wade looks close to 4” shorter than Melo before footwear is factored in effectively putting him around 6’3”. Lebron looks close to his listing. I’d say a flat 6’7” is good

Testimony should not be the ultimate arbiter. It's only a specific kind of evidence, certainly a type that's admissible but it can often be highly tendentious. Sometimes guys like Iverson and Barkley are described as shorter than they are to make their achievements seem that much more impressive. That's definitely a real thing. And, furthermore, as long as we go by testimony, I value Rob's opinion higher than a basketball coach that doesn't really know what he's talking about.

But no matter how you slice it, you rely mostly on other's testimony and that's not really rigorous.

I am not understanding your logic. I don’t rely mostly on testimony. I use facts. I know people who’ve met him. And how would you trust Rob who has never met Iverson over Larry Brown who is a 5’8 range guy (listed 5’9”) that coached him for 6 years not to mention the Sixers have measured him within the organization? That makes no sense
Canson said on 19/Dec/20
@Animus: I don’t have Thomas as 6’0 either. So they may explain it. However, he’s a weak 6’.

To my eye that looks roughly like an inch difference in height and Isiah Thomas (HOF'er) was/is legitimately 6'0. I think it's fair to say Iverson is roughly 5'11.

I won't go into why CP3 isn't 5'11, again. I have already provided some arguments and you haven't.

Here is Chris Paul and Allen Iverson: Click Here
I'd say that's a pretty good example of 182cm versus 180cm.
Here is Chris Paul and Reggie Bush with similar footwear: Click Here
Reggie Bush is listed at 6'0, but I recall that measured in at 5'10¾ at the NFL Combine. Bush's afternoon height is probably 5'10¼-5'10¾ - call it 5'10½. I think Paul can look about 1½ inches taller. Again, the conclusion is that Chris Paul is roughly six feet tall; certainly not a 5'11 guy. Parsimoniously, I give Paul 5'11¾

Larry Brown said that Iverson is 5’10-5’11 range. He’s been measured before with the Sixers. 5’10-5’11 is how he’s been described from others who’ve met him too. Maybe 5’10.5”. CP would measure 5’11.75 early morning or near it. 5’11 isn’t a bad estimate for him

Chris Paul is definitely not a 5'11 guy as some people claim here. Here he is with Derrick Rose, who is listed at 6'1¼ here: Click Here
Is that how a 180-181cm guy would appear next to a 186cm guy? Granted the angle and the photo overall favors Chris Paul, but it's hard to find 2 inches worth of external factors that can explain that photo.
He also generally looks around six feet tall next to guys like LeBron and James Harden. I don't think it's possible to earnestly put him outside the 5'11½-6'0 range. I can definitely understand he measured in at 6'0¼ (he can look that tall sometimes), but that was probably early morning. 5'11½ is the absolute lowest I would go. It's possible he measures that at five in the afternoon. However, he can also look like a six-footer and since he apparently measured in at 5'11¾ at the draft, I think that's the most reasonable listing.

@Monkey Knees: I would give Walker the solid 5’11”. His measurement is inline with other players who measure 1/2” taller at the combine than in the afternoon. CP3 is a very odd case. We would assume that 5’11.75 would’ve been his afternoon and 6’0.25 his morning since he got that this year. However he never looks that tall. I would give him 5’11 too solely based on how he looks

@Shane: I never realized he was dropped last year. Some analysts and players who played against him say he’s only 5’10”. My true guess is that he’s 5’11” and that the 5’11.75 was out of bed and he ended up like Draymond Green measuring near his out of bed height at the combine where other guys may lose a 1/4” or so before being measured. Maybe he’s like 5’11 5/8 when he got his

@Warren: I think 5’11” flat for his afternoon. Some players measure 1/2 or 3/4” taller. I think the case with the latter has more to do with the fact that 1/8” increments aren’t used or if they have possibly a shoe lift. But CP probably would edge AI by about 1/2”. Larry Brown and Lebron both said AI was 5’10/5’11
Warren said on 21/Jul/19

@Junior and Frost: there was a poster here named Kroc and one called Baller FL below that both met him and said he’s 5’10. Now he measured what he did but see the pics with Jarrett Jack. He’s definitely over 3” shorter and I’ve met Jack more times than I can remember. I’ve played against him repeatedly and he’s 2” shorter than I am. I’d give him 6’2.25 at a low probably. Jack can honesty have 4” on CP3
Canson said on 8/Jul/19
@Junior: it’s very possible that he did dip 2cm. Remember if someone wakes up and immediately lays around before measuring that they will still be close to the top. But also remember that 5’11.53 could be 5’11.75 on paper. When it’s even a mm over they will round it up may even if it’s dead on half. So 5’11.53 could easily be 5’11 at a low. He really never looks more than 5’11” to me. I’ve seen pics of him with Jarrett Jack and that’s minimum a 3” difference if not slightly over the mark
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 2/Jul/19
@Canson how can he lost 2cm from 7am average time draft measurement? Steve Nash need to bring down 6'0.25" if CP is 5'11. 181cm is the worst. Sometime CP look his full 5'11 3/4 and most of time i admmit a little lower he look .25-.5" range.
Frost said on 10/Jun/19
@canson I don't think that's at best. A flat 5'11" is the lowest I could go with him. 5'11.25"-5'11.5" I can see being the better measurements for him in the afternoon.

He's definitely not 6 feet so I don't get the average guess.

Lowry is shorter than Paul tho.

Curious did Paul get his measurement 182cm on the dot and get round up at 5'11 3/4 or he did reach 182.2cm an exact 5'11 3/4. Because someone this height doesn't make change much through out the day from morning height maybe fraction below or 8mm, worst 1cm and i don't think he fall into flat 181cm trap if he was measure 182.2cm. My previous thought of him 5'11 3/8 now i could see he could be 5'11 1/2.

@Christian: it’s possible he got the same as Dwade or Damian Lillard. Ben Wallace is another guy whose pre draft was boosted. He’s admitted to being 6’6/6’7 before and he’s clearly at least 3” shorter than 6’9.75 measures Rasheed Wallace and is significantly shorter than an aged Bill Russell. And that’s if Wallace is actually that tall at his low. Although Wallace looks minimum 6’9.5 so I could see it. Either way, Ben Wallace ends up around that claim, not the 6’7.75 that the NBA claims he measured

Rob, whats an average height in the nba that you must be or should
Editor Rob: obviously the taller you are the more beneficial some aspects of the game can be, but there are still some good players under six foot...

I'm not sure what an optimal height is though.

The optimal range is 6'3"-6'7" I feel. At that height range you're not too tall to be a Guard, neither are you too short to be a Foward. But the best height to be an overall skilled player might be 6'5" (I might sound biased because I'm around that height myself, but I'm actually not)

@S.J.H: Duhon has a point where 5'11" guys especially if well proportioned sometimes even not easily pass for 6' tall especially with height varying. A guy who wakes near or at 6' and drops to 5'11-11.25 may say 6'0" either way and most people unless within an inch either direction and honest will take it at face value esp with the way perception of height is these days. You know too being the height you are. But I do agree esp with people having met Paul on this site that there's a chance he isn't really that height he's listed. I do know that the .75 is thrown around judiciously like you mentioned for Wall my buddy is a solid (almost can be considered strong since he barely falls below it usually 190.4 is his lowest), he said Wall is an inch to inch and a half shorter than him and he's met Wall more than once. He did say Beal was correct tho (he may have grown) or may not fall below 6-3. He actually said Beal may he slightly taller when he met him. But for Paul I saw where kroc and fl baller said he's 5'10. That looks short for him but they met him and one is close in height so possible he is
S.J.H said on 2/Mar/17

Question is chris paul doesn't look 6'0 and 5'11.5 both and honestly sometimes he only look 179 to 180cm so 5'10.75 could be possible at his lowest. Trust me a real 6'0 and a 5'11 can be tell by frame if you really looking more at it. I've know 2 legit 5'11 friend who doesn't look shorter than chris paul and our good friend were 6'0.25 look way taller than paul.

@Willes190, given how specialized the positions are in the NBA, it'd probably be better to ask an average for each positions since the height needed to make a great point guard and a great center are so far apart. The league wide average has been just above 6'7" since the 80's (in fact, the average in 85-86 seasons is almost identical to the 08-09 seasons), but forward and centers and skew the league-wide average quite a bit. For most positions, around 6'3" would be a solid height.

If Paul is 182 cm then Bush is not at his 6 feet even listing the NFL has him at. The NFL is strange with listings at times. Most of them are quite close but some are just downright strange. You have people like Bush, Steve Young, and Deion Sanders who are listed a bit above what they are. Then most are listed at where they should be. Then you have Adrian Peterson and Brett Favre who are listed under what they really are in my opinion.

But Kobe is supposed to have been measured 6'4.75 and he actually doesnt look any taller than Michael Jordan...
[Editor Rob: remember photos can sometimes enhance or reduce one person. Look at Bryant with Wade and Chris. Wade being measured almost 6ft 4 and Paul almost 6ft I think is reasonable enough.]

Rob, why does he look so much shorter than Kobe Bryant?

I mean, if this guy is 182, Kobe is at least 6'6!
[Editor Rob: Kobe could be 6ft 5.5 range]

He's 178cm tall, he came here in Italy and stood next to De Nicolao (Cimberio Varese's PG) who is 5'11 and he was slightly shorter but he was in basketball shoes while Nicolao was barefoot.

This is right. Saw him in LA at his hotel. He was actually taller than I thought.

CP3s wingspan is 6'4'', average for a NBA PG but his steals rate is insane. Somehow his reach is only 7'9''. Im 6' lowest height 6'2'' wingspan and mines 7'10''. I suspect some players slack 2 inches on reach for 2 inches more vertical leap. CP3 got a 38'' vertical which is still good for a PG.

How can you tell the difference between 5'11.75 and 6 feet tall
Tony said on 8/Jan/13
@MD Well Barefoot yes I am quite sure the average is under 6'1, here is a quote from the w1kipedia page" Most current NBA point guards are between 5'9" and 6'4" (1.78 m -1.93 m) in height. In 2011 the average height of point guards in the NBA was just over 6'1" Just go to the w1kipedia page on point guard if you want to read it
A lot of players don't even have barefoot heights documented so I would think that would drive the average up(Rondo, Chalmers, and Jennings do not have barefoot heights documented but are all listed 6'1)

@Sak Yeh he is quite small for an NBA player, but for a point in the NBA, I'd imagine the average is probably around or slightly under 6'1(barefoot), However length is important too (wingspan and standing reach, one reason why the sport is mostly African American, they typically have longer arms)

He must feel really small when playing bb. But in daily life probably feels tallish.

Nice add Rob, best sub 6 foot player in the NBA unquestionably

Best pg in the NBA imo. Fun player to watch
