Listing Looks pretty accurate for his prime.
@Editor Rob: wasn’t he listed 6’3.5” at one point?
Yeah, he could pull off looking a big 6ft 3 range
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 27/May/20
Agree he could be solid 192cm peak and a better figure to give him should be 6'3 5/8 (192.1) and 6'3 1/8 at worst now. He still manage to pull off 6'3 1/4.

Hey Rob, maybe 6'3.5 peak and 6'3 for a current listing would be best?

Still looks a solid 6’3” imho

It's possible he hasnt shrunk at all.
Always been 6-3.

@Rampage He still doesn't look under 6'3 with 6'1 Samuel L.Jackson. Could be closer to 6'3.75" peak and 6'3 1/4 now Click Here

... Hard to believe Nelson's the one older by 4 years there!

190cm today wouldn’t surprise me

I don't doubt 6'3.5" at peak, but I still can't believe Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star's voice actor from Spongebob Squarepants) makes Craig look quite small.
I never thought Patrick Star would be one big dude.

At 74 Craig T Nelson make it losing only a fraction of height. Wish him to be healthy and live up to 100 making a record of celebrities only lost a half inch in 26 years time. I think Sean Connery make it his way over 77 still looking 6'2 with 6'1 1/2 Jim Carrey. By the way i see Craig could be close to 6'3 1/2 peak and solid 6'3 1/4 now.
berta said on 24/Aug/18
the guy looks weak 6 foot 3 today. he is 74 years old. i think he have lost little over half inch by now. peak i would say 191,5 range
Tall Sam said on 21/Aug/18
With Fagerbakke, he certainly could look closer to 6'3" than 6'4" range, could seem around 3 inches shorter at times.
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 2/Jul/18
@Danimal 5'9 3/4" Under 6'3? He edge out 6'2 1/2 Will Ferrell by 3/4. Age is not the issues. He might not be losing much height yet.
Danimal 5'9 3/4" said on 27/Jun/18
He's 74 years old Rob. The man has lost height. He was 6'4" at his peak and is most likely under 6'3" today.
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 26/Jun/18
i'm still pretty much surprised for the downgrade. Craig look 6'3 1/2 peak and i don't see him lost much height yet. But he could be 191cm now.
sulu2018 said on 20/Mar/18
A handful of height listings on this site that used to have the 1/2 inch have been downgraded to the 1/4 inch.
Junior said on 26/Dec/17
He may not lose any height yet. Some people don't lose any height only when they reach their final stage of age battle with illness from 80-100 years old. I have a grand uncle who always keep up good posture was 6'1 and skinny had keep up all the way and only lose half inch bed bound a year before passing at 95 years old. All goes to good gene.

What height does he claim rob?
Editor Rob: actually he was regularly called 6ft 3 in the Coach era, sometimes later on 6ft 4...but I didn't see a specific quote yet.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Oct/17
Compared to most, he's done quite well. Still looks about an even 6ft3 today. Makes me wonder if he could've been 6ft4 in the past

This is a very large man and he hasn't lost much at all. As for the movie the proposal he looked at least an inch taller then Reynolds if not more and he has a much larger frame then Reynolds which makes him look even bigger then that compared to Reynolds. Could have been a full 6'4 in Coach days.
Richardspain said on 24/Apr/17
He is still 192 cm today. Good genetics as Spielberg, Tom Selleck,or David Hasselhof. Everybody doesn't lose height.
S.J.H said on 27/Mar/17
Craig t nelson might just be 6'3.25 during 8 years ago filming The Proposal , ryan reynolds only look about 0.75" shorter it was a fact.

Rob, could 6ft3 flat be closer today?
Editor Rob: yeah he could be roughly that today.
Sandy Cowell said on 2/Feb/17
Craig T. Nelson is 6ft3.5! How very interesting! It now makes me want to check out Jobeth Williams' height, the actress who plays Craig's wife in the 'Poltergeist' trilogy! I think therefore, that she must be pretty tall as well.
I only have two of the above films. I have 'the Devil's Advocate', where there'll be juicy opportunities to compare Craig to Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves, but the film that sends high quality shivers down my spine is 'Poltergeist II', when he goes round singing "God is in his holy tem-ple!" Forget Jason, Michael Myers and Freddie Kruger! That creepy old man in Poltergeists II and III is scarier! AND he can possess you, as we see happening to Craig's loving father figure! If Craig was a little guy, I don't think it would have had quite the same impact!
So 6ft3.5 it is then! The above picture speaks volumes for his height!

Craig t nelson has a strong gene. He didn't loss any height at age of 70 seeing his show parenthood. My dad is 61 had lost about 0.5 since peak 5'11
Arch Stanton said on 8/Apr/16
Mmm in Poltergeist he was stood against the door and only came slightly above the top frame on the door. On my door that top panel is around 6'3. So he was looking 6'3.5 but in shoes though. Hmmm. I guess it can vary from door to door but I'd not have thought him over 6'3" in that film.
Sam said on 4/Mar/16
Watching Parenthood recently and I'd be surprised if he was over 6'3" today and could be a smidge under it. Next to near 6'5" John Corbett, he looked at least 2 inches shorter. Also only looks a couple inches taller at most near Peter Krause, usually less, and barely taller than Dax Shepard in it. In stills online, however, Nelson can look to have some height over Shepard still.
Sam said on 28/Jul/15
Wouldn't surprise me if Nelson was in the 6'3.5"-6'4" range, possibly similar peak height to John Wayne or Clint Eastwood.
Sam said on 3/Apr/15
This guy deserves more credits...could you add the following Rob?: Poltergeist, The Osterman Weekend, Devil's Advocate, The Incredibles, The Proposal and the additional TV series The District and Parenthood.
Arch Stanton said on 1/Apr/15
Looked no more than 6'2 with Kurt Russell in Silkwood.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 25/Oct/14
192-193cm peak is possible. He could look 6ft4 in the 80s. Today it looks like he struggles with 6ft3 flat. Like I said before, he wasn't much taller than Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal
Judd said on 18/Oct/14
6'3.5" seems accurate...in devil's advocate (1997) he towered on al pacino, had almost 2,5" on keanu reeves and was eye-to-eye with jeffrey jones.
6'4.5" or 6'5" are much optimistic visions...
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Sep/13
Looked 6ft2.5-6ft3 tops with Reynolds.

Craig T Nelson is a big man with a big head. At 6'3.5" he is 6.5" or 9.5% taller than the average North American. Assuming that his skull is not as thick as mine (2") his brain probably weighs about 220 gms based upon his skull being 50% larger than the average North American. I conclude that he has an intelligence quotient of 150 (lower quartile genius) and should have obtained his two university degrees summa cum laude. Am I correct in my assumptions that nice guys finish last?

I just saw him in a miniseries from 1990 titled DRUG WARS: THE ENRIQUE CAMARENA STORY. He was tall as a young man, and even now he looks like he's kept most of his height. I don't think that Nelson was ever less than 6'3", and I can even buy 6'3 1/2" barefoot for him, but no taller than that. In this miniseries, he has his 6'1" co-star Steven Bauer by an easy 2"; likwise, he has an inch & change on 6'2" Benicio Del Toro. It's too bad he wasn't a bigger star than what he was.

6ft2.5-6ft3 range now. If you watch The Proposal you'll notice a very minimal amount between hin and Ryan Reynolds. But he was close to 6ft4 in his prime for definite.

I recall some live TV celebrity show. He'd walked by John Laroquette, who is said to be 6'4" but is likely 6'5". Craig was an inch shorter, but had shoes with 3" heels on. John's shoes had 1" heels. That puts him about 6'2" -6'3".
Rock said on 28/May/09
Craig just walked right by me while he was smoking a cigar in New York City. I am 6'3" and the first thing I noticed was his height. I would have to say he is 6'4", maybe a little taller. Most of the comments are pretty spot on. No way the guy is shorter than 6'3" though, 6'3.5" AT LEAST.
yoyo said on 24/Dec/08

Not nearly as tall as 6'6 costar Bill Fagerbakke on the hit show 'Coach'. 6' 3.5 to 6'4 is very believable.
patrick said on 9/Jan/08
I always saw him very tall (6'4 or more) until I see him in a TV movie 1999 "to serve and protect" with 6'5 John Corbett: the latter was clearly taller by a good inch in the "street scene" we see them walking along.
So, that does not mean he was not a tad taller before when ten or 20 years younger which, in this case, would indeed put him at 6'5 or so.
I bet for 6'4 when young and 6'3.5 nowadays.
