average guess is way too low. never looks smaller than 6'2.5 in shoes

@Canson Cavs have most conservative rosters in league. Rubio, Love, Allen and Mitchell all down two inches from pre 2019 listings. Allen kept his 6'11" after 2019 and dropped 2 inches for Cavs and Rubio is listed at 6'2" for first time in career with Cavs.

He has to Listen 6'1.25 here.

@Shane: agreed

@Canson I do remember Respert and remember his 6'3" listing. I believe NBA should starting calling them playing height rosters to eliminate confusion and clarify a standard consistent with over 40 years of historic listings. They said they instituted the roster policy for betting purposes, which was total bs. That said, call them playing height rosters and send official barefoot heights to Vegas before each season and they can do with them whatever they want (which is nothing.) And if all rosters are labeled playing height -- such as Miami Heat Playing Height Roster -- we would have a standard players like and one where everyone knew the heights listed are in shoe. We get the barefoot heights of most players anywhere at the various combines so we would still have those. Aa it is now, we have some barefoot heights, lots an inch over barefoot and quite a few shoe heights. In my opinion, it's more confusing now for casual fans than before. At least before many fans simply realized most heights were in shoes. Now it's really random.

17 size shoes would look ridiculous at his height

He is definitely 6 feet 1.25 to 6 feet 1.5
Canson said on 24/Nov/21
@Shane: actually 6’1.25 would suffice for 6’3 if they measure and round from 6’2.5 since we’re talking 1.25” for sneaks. Do you remember Shawn Respert? He was listed 6’3 but measured 6’0.5 or 6’0.75 from what I recall. He played for Michigan state. That probably wasn’t his doing though. I’m sure it was the team and I’ve seen him listed 6’1” other places and 6’2 but I remember his nba listing was 6’3”.. I think a guy like curry would easily get a 6’3 listing even if his afternoon height is taken where He’s likely a 6’1.5 guy and 6’2.25 out of bed
Canson said on 29/Oct/21
@Shane: yea that eliminates lifts lol. I’ve seen some doozies. One guy I think Derrick Brown was 6’5.25 barefoot and 6’8.5 in shoes 😂 😂 😂. I think the fair approach was to do it the way they did before where they had the barefoot and in shoe measurement and just specify both. I just wish they did it either later in the day or that all players were measured at the same time of the day or around the same time of day and we were able to get an accurate gauge as to what time of the day it is for each one. So if they do it first thing out of bed, we could estimate what they would be in the afternoon.
Shane said on 28/Oct/21
Mitchell back to being listed 6'1" on both espn and NBA sites. I hate the barefoot listings. 40 years of NBA comparables and standards down the drain. I suggest they measure everyone barefoot and then add one inch and the round to nearest inch. So to get a 6'3" listing, you'd need to measure at least 6'1 1/2". Any lower and it goes to 6'2".

@Canson thing is like every self respecting strong 6’7, he claims 6’9
Canson said on 15/Aug/21
@Viper: he’s closer to 6’6 than 6’9” if I had to guess except out of bed when he could measure 6’8 flat. Even if 6’7.25 is his afternoon which I doubt, that’s fractionally closer to 6’6 lol. I have him as a flat 6’7” though
Canson said on 7/Mar/21
His teammate Joe Ingles measured 6’7.75 early morning in 2009 and is now listed 6’7” from 6’8”

Oddly enough, both Mitchell and George Hill measured 6’1.25” w/I shoes at their combine. However, Mitchell is listed at 6’0” right now, and Hill is listed at 6’4” right now lol.

It's like the NBA is trolling at this point.

They are gonna list Lebron at 6-6 I guess

I meant to say the underlisted

I've never heard of anyone wear a size 17 shoe at his height

@Viper I have seen a 6'0.5" guy wearing size 17 back in HS.

@Simon L: I remember Derrick Jones Jr being measured 6’5,75 now he’s listed 6’5 this season as opposed to 6’6 last season after the measurements and 6’7 previously before 2019-20 season

NBA.com reverted their listing back to 6'1. Weird
A lot of NBA players height seem to have been changed over the last month or two on NBA.com
Editor Rob
data entry mistakes maybe?
Canson said on 24/Jan/21
I’d say 186 like Rampage said is best case (maybe) if he measured afternoon. Really I’d say 6’1” flat but worst 6’0.75” if morning

Reasons why Donovan Mitchell is at most a weak 6'1, Donovan Mitchell next to Frank Nitlinka listed as 6'4 on the nba:

Donovan Mitchell next to Chris Paul listed as 6'0 in the nba and 5'11.75 barefoot by rob:

Donovan Mitchell next to Damian Lillard listed as 6'2 in the nba, but who is at most a weak 6'1:

These two images with damian lillard are not so clear but we can see that Donovan Mitchell has a height similar to that of damian lillard but that went unnoticed all this time because he always has big hair..

Rob, how likely is 186cm?
johnnysidgursson said on 22/Jan/21
He dunk so easily, i guess between 6´1 and 6´2 barefoot and 6´4 on shoes
Canson said on 21/Jan/21
@Jay Hay: being they measure guys earlier in the day on occasion it’s very possible he’s not that at a low. Otherwise he would’ve been listed 6’2” being he’d be that out of bed and 6’1.25 afternoon height. He could be 6’0.75 or 6’1 at a low
JayHay said on 20/Jan/21
I think he’s probably 6’1 1/4 barefoot at a low. I don’t know how the how the hell he could measure below 6’1”, maybe he was slouching?
Canson said on 20/Jan/21

@viper

Then you probably don’t pay much attention to the NBA a 6’5 1/2 Klay Thompson was once listed 6’7 and a 6’6 3/4 LeBron James was listed 6’8.5 and even claimed 6’9

I’m sure Viper pays attention to the NBA.
Canson said on 20/Jan/21
@Junior: Dame at 6’0.25 is not impossible and I doubt Dame is as tall as Mitchell. Mitchell is probably worst case 6’0.75”. That 6’0” listing appears to be a mistake

@Editor Rob: I think there is a discrepancy with the listings for Mitchell and Mike Conley. The Jazz now have Mitchell listed 6’0 and Conley 6’1 when it’s the other way around (per 2020 measurements)
Editor Rob
it does seem something may be off one way or another with the figures.

@Editor Rob: other question is how tall is O’Neale? Could he be a weak 6’4”? Can’t tell with a lot of the newer players as there is no reliable measuring stick
Editor Rob
at worse a weak 6ft 4
Canson said on 19/Jan/21
@JAWilder: good question. 6’0.75 is the lowest I would’ve seen for him (a a stretch) 6’0.5”. 6’0” is very surprising. I could’ve even bought the full 6’1” listing as some guys don’t necessarily lose 1/2” from their listing if it’s 2-3 hours out of bed. Probably rare but I could almost see it with Kawhi Leonard. I would’ve put him at 6’5.75 but I also don’t rule out 6’5.5”. He’s definitely not 6’6 though
Heightboss said on 19/Jan/21

The more likely conclusion is they screwed up and was measured 6-0.25
Jawilder said on 17/Jan/21
@Canson nice find with that video. You think Mitchell’s low is 6’0.75? I wouldn’t be too surprised if Lillard was 6 feet flat but he looks over it with some players like Westbrook and Rose.
Canson said on 17/Jan/21
@Viper. You mean underlist by an Inch. I’ve seen several players over listed by as much as 3. Lillard could be a candidate taking about afternoon heights

@Editor Rob: what if that was a shoe measurement that was placed in the barefoot category? That seems to be the case with Lillard. He’s nowhere near his listing
viper said on 16/Jan/21
He's 6-0.5 at most IMO

I've never seen the NBA overlist anyone by a full inch
Editor Rob
it would be a big jump going from having a 6ft 1.25 (and 3 in shoes) to a 6ft 0-0.5 measurement 3 years later...

Wonder if he has said anything about it!
Jawilder said on 16/Jan/21
@Rob Wow. I didn’t even notice that. Maybe the first time a NBA player has been underlisted? Haha
Editor Rob
somebody should tweet him asking why he's shrinking 😄

Canson said on 16/Jan/21
@Editor Rob: here he is with Royce O’Neal. O’Neal was another player who shrunk two inches from 6’6 to 6’4” last season. He may be that or a bit under depending on time of the day. How tall is Mitchell with O’Neal?

Editor Rob
Donovan does have a bit of camera/hair advantage, a minimum 3 inches, but as much as 4 I don't know.
Canson said on 16/Jan/21
@Editor Rob: be fair, see him with Mike Conley. Conley was measured 5’11.5 back in 2007. Was it possibly a roundup or a morning like height? Possibly. I say morning like only because some guys will be measured in the afternoon but lay around until they get measured. So is Conley only 5’11”? Possibly. Mitchell only has him by an inch. Or maybe he’s 6’0 and change. It looks like ESPN and NBA.com are not aligned. Dwight Howard is listed 6’10 on ESPN and NBA.com 6’9”
Editor Rob
sometimes there may be errors in a dataset, I mean 6ft would be surprising given his previous measurements.

Looks the same height as Lillard. 6’0.75
Editor Rob
actually he is surprisngly now a lowly 6'0" on the NBA!

That’s because Lillard is only 6’0”. Remember Colin Cowherd also said Lillard was only 6’0” when he met him. Cowherd is 6’1.5”

@RJT: yea he measured 6’1.25 at the combine but not sure what time of the day. I doubt he’s that tall but he could be 6’0.75-6’1 range or a full 6’1 afternoon. Rob has a very good listing for him
