5'2 is what I always guessed for her seeing her next to dawn French she always seemed about 2 inches taller and I've met dawn and had a good 6 inches on her

Years after leaving school, I had the pleasure of meeting 4 of my former schoolteachers, and - time being the major factor in each case - I was able to talk at great length to three of them! It was wonderful, as though we were old friends!

@ Arch Stanton - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend dying at such a dreadfully young age, I really am. Life is to be embraced and loved and appreciated while we can. So sad, and I send you my sympathy.

Lovely comments Sandy and Nik. An old friend of mine died only a few weeks ago at just 44. She taught me to play trumpet as kid. I've never seen so many devastated looking people at one funeral before. It does make you think.

@ Rob - I think it's a beautiful thing that the stars who have passed on are still very much alive on celebheights. Reading as I did this morning Arch's comment that she died, of what I don't know, has really thrown me. Life is so, so precious!

RIP Alice. Such a character and great actress, certainly not somebody you would expect to see in the obituaries. Smaller than I thought, I thought about 5 ft 4 in my mind but then Dawn is 5' flat.
