In that scene in lolita, when Humbert attacks quilty and kills him, irons had dress shoes on and langhella was barefoot and they were similar in height. Weak 6'2 for irons at peak very believable.

186,5-188 peak. I think 6´1 3/4 could be what he measured. These days he can probably look 184 in person because of bad posture but i still think he is 185 when measured.

In their scenes together in Damage (1992), Irons looked almost a full head taller than 5ft 6 listed Binoche, and generally gave off a towering impression with impeccable posture throughout the movie. Very close to 6ft 2 peak, and certainly closer to 6ft 1.75 than 6ft 1.5 at least.

After seeing the latter half of 'Fatal Attraction' yesterday, I thought it might be an apt progression to get acquainted with David Cronenberg's version of M. Butterfly, which arrived on my doorstep early last week.
I knew it wouldn't be the opera, Jeremy hardly being an opera singer, but it was still beautiful, with humour typical of Cronenberg, with the ultimate sad ending.
Anything with Jeremy Irons is welcome in my collection, and all David Cronenberg's work is imperative. I'd like to have seen both guys discussing the film, but my DVD video disc didn't accommodate that.

I watched 'Dead Ringers' last night, not having seen it for many, many years. Of all the twins movies I've seen, which usually involve a good twin/bad twin scenario, I found this far and away the best and most thought provoking.
Playing privileged twins, who work as gynecologists, we're able to observe the closeness of an identical twins' relationship, and how they share everything. They live in the same apartment, sleep with the same women unbeknownst to the women, but when the more emotionally sensitive twin, Beverly, falls deeply in love with Claire, played by Genevieve Bujold, who works as an actress but is desperate to have her own children, she starts to suspect that Beverly might be schizophrenic, the twins having both spent time with her, feigning to be one and the same.
Beverly's twin is called Elliot, and the brothers are so close to one another that when Bev starts spiralling out of control with drugs, feeling rejected by Claire when she goes off to shoot a movie, he nearly dies, but Elliot covers up that it's from an overdose and decides to take him home to supervise a detoxification programme for his beloved 'other half'.
I don't want to talk too much about the outcome, but it really is dreadfully sad. It makes you appreciate the bond between identical twins and that they do feel each other's pain in a way that the vast majority of us will never experience, both physically, as tests have revealed, and emotionally. When Elliott's plan to cure his brother's addiction fails, we are left wondering if dying is a preferable alternative for the healthy twin to living without his brother.
It's slightly amusing that one twin admits to being 2mm taller than the other, and that Elliot calls Beverly his 'little brother', being born first, but a height difference like that isn't worth straining your eyes to try to observe! The film was made in 1988, so Jeremy was 39/40 with a full head of light brown hair, and when you see him walking about, even if there's nobody to compare him to, you can see he's a tall guy. He has typically tall man proportions. When the film started, I put Jeremy at 6ft1, but there's a scene in the middle of the film which is shot outside a building, and enables you to compare him to other people, which caused me to think he was pushing 6ft2. There are plenty of scenes which show Jeremy hunched over in a state of intoxication, yet still he looks tall! Perhaps I need to dig out my copy of 'Stealing Beauty' to compare him to Liv Tyler....🤔
Anyway, this is a film well worth investing in. 📀💕😁 Though not your usual David Cronenberg visceral horror, the subject matter couldn't have been handled better.

I'm quite tempted to say 6'0.5 today but given his age and less than perfect posture I can see him measuring 6'0.75 too.I do feel him measuring the full 6ft 1 today though is unlikely.

I saw him in a clothing store in New York. This was about 5-6 years ago. He was definitely 6'2. Now I think he is closer to 6'1. He seems to have shrunk a little. Compared to Liam Neeson in "The Mission," he was no more than 2 inches shorter. More recently, he looked 6'1 in "The Borgias."

Could have been nearer 6'2 at peak... He is still a strong 6ft1 today, aged 65. He could easily be 186 today, and a solid 187cm(6ft1.75) at peak. He looked more than a flat 6'1 with Chris Meloni, in 2011. So either 6ft1.75 peak, or he just hasn't lost much.

I've beem suspicious of his height since the Lord of the Rings movies in which he was only a few inches taller than Cate Blanchett, and the same for Aeon Flux with Charlize Theron. Mr. K I like your theory! And I agree that many guys listed at this height do round up, as I have found from personal experience. I'm exactly between 185-186 cm and find that many celebs and even sports stars round up slightly by about a cm or two. Harrison Ford is another example, as is Edward Norton, and Tom Hanks (never met him, but he doesn't quite look 6'1" to me) are also examples. One guy to me, from personal experience, that our editor lists as being 6'1" who is definately taller is Daniel Baldwin, whom my comparison to Stephen does have being an inch taller. My encounter with Baldwin has him at a solid 6'2", you can even see this relative to Cole Hauser in Parazzi.

I'm exactly between 185-186 cm and find that many celebs and even sports stars round up slightly by about a cm or two. Harrison Ford is another example, as is Edward Norton, and Tom Hanks (never met him, but he doesn't quite look 6'1" to me) are also examples. One guy to me, from personal experience, that our editor lists as being 6'1" who is definately taller is Daniel Baldwin, whom my comparison to Stephen does have being an inch taller. My encounter with Baldwin has him at a solid 6'2", you can even see this relative to Cole Hauser in Parazzi.

Many listed as 6'1" is actually about 184cms. And remember when a honest actor like Irons says that he is about 6'1" (he is about 186 cms) he will be almost one inch taller than those who rounds up, for example Nicolas Cage, Kevin Costner, Pierce Brosnan and many many more.
